Serendpity's castle. The heart of Arca. The gem of the entire country. There were some who would give anything to traverse its corridors, and gaze upon its glorious collection of paintings - which, he noted, seemed to be of past Kings and Queens, princes, and princesses, respectfully - old vases and other expensive frivolities. And saving the best for last, the royalty. He had to admit, it did nothing for him. It was all old and smelt funny. Of course the ambassador from Connlaoth would never say such things out loud. Why, that would be impolite and Livius would not allow himself to stoop so low in civility as to match say...His hosts. There were times where he felt terribly homesick, wishing for the sights and sounds of his birth city, Reajh, and for the people. There he did not have to worry about his own safety from mages, there were Mordecai to do that. Here however, he found himself not being able to trust what was under his own bed. Colonel, his faithful hound, on the other hand didn't seem to care. Then again, he was a dog.

Ah yes, but Colonel being of the four legged fuzzy sort did not explain why the both of them were currently looking for a cat.

It was just here a minute ago! He knew it! He could smell that cocky bastard from a mile away. Grr. The way he held his head up high like he owned the place...It irritated him.

Livius Trabell, a diplomat no less, was kneeling down on the floor in one of the castle's many corridors, looking underneath the embroidered tablecloth of a little table leaning against the wall. On its surface it was home to potted plants - rare ones, to anyone who knew a bit about botany - but there was no cat to be found. Originally he and Colonel had spotted the orange and white tomcat out in the courtyard. It was minding its own business but had made a quick dash inside once it realised the eyes of a Connlaoth Tracker and a werewolf were on it. Livius wouldn't normally do this, he really wouldn't. The closer a full-moon came to rising the more prickly his personality became and bestial instincts kicked in harder than a mule. As much as he wished, some things he couldn't control; sometimes he had to give in or go crazy trying to suppress it. That did not mean he enjoyed it. Afterwards he would feel sick of himself.

Colonel had his nose pressed to the area around them, Livius could hear his snuffling and then a long disappointed whine meaning that they may have lost their trail. The ambassador sighed and stood back up, being wary not to hit his head on the table - that has happened before. He smoothed out the wrinkles in his clothing. His furry friend padded up beside him and nudged his hand with a wet nose.

"Don't worry, Colonel, we'll find that demon." He said, and meant it. Livius had received enough funny stares to make him swear revenge. His response garnered a happy yip from Colonel, who thusly walked over to the nearest open window and stood up on his hind legs, placing his front paws on the ledge as if searching. Livius crossed his arms and raised one cool eyebrow. Taking initiative, are we now? After a moment's pause he joined Colonel out of sheer curiosity.

There wasn't much to look at. The courtyard was below them, he could catch glimpses of tiny figures of people going on with their daily business. But no cat. It did not seem like it was outside again, surely they would have passed it on their search through the halls. The mere thought of eventually finding the tomcat made his tail wag much like Colonel's. Unlike his though, Livius' was hidden from view. Thankfully. The werewolf had a fairly posh long coat tailored for him when he caught ear of a particularly talented seamstress in the city through the grapevine. While it cost him a pretty coin,  he couldn't say it was not well spent. The woman was a master with the needle to say the least, and had said she accumulated some experience with designing clothing for interesting sort. That being, back onto the topic of his tail, it was hidden from prying eyes for the most part, nothing was perfect, and was given enough room to wag if it felt the need without him needing to worry. He swore sometimes it had a mind of its own...

On a beautiful sunny day, quite like this one, Livius would prefer to be outside enjoying it. Perhaps sitting in the cool shade of a tree if he had no diplomatic duties to attend to, and simply read. But he would not be able to rest without knowing where that damnable cat was! It was a matter of honour.

Achrim strolled through the corridors of the palace, relaxing and unwinding after a meeting with some nobles. Gah. It seemed like, no matter what country he was in, all nobles were the same. Of course, Adelan nobles had a certain flair about them that Serenians would never be able to live up to.

"Isn't that right?" He asked the cat he'd been carrying for a few minutes now. The cat purred its agreement as the ambassador scratched the feline's chin. Achrim had been relieved when he had discovered that the king allowed cats to stay within the palace walls. Its not that he thought the king wasn't mindful of ill spirits but these Serenians were a strange bunch and he hadn't been exactly sure what oddities he would encounter.

He was brought out of his thoughts when the cat decided that it had had enough of Achrim's attention and jumped to the ground before trotting off the way he had come. Well that was odd. He thought briefly before putting the feline out of his mind. The cat had probably been hungry and had gone off in search of food. Rounding a corner, however, revealed the real reason for the cat's departure.

A good sized dog was peering out of a window.

Achrim was a little wary of dogs. If not handled properly, they drew evil spirits towards them like a fly to a rotten piece of meat. Although, a dog wouldn't be allowed in the palace if it wasn't trained well. The ambassador relaxed a little and finally noticed the human accompanying the dog, which put him back on edge a little. He had heard...rumors about the man. Well, not really rumors about him but it was easy enough to guess. That and he had setup a little investigation of his own into tracking down the rumor.

Not that any amount of reliable information had turned up.

Still, the implications around the event were disturbing but Achrim was off in his own mind again and he had failed to greet his fellow ambassador. "Good afternoon to you sir. How does this day find you?"
