"By the gods, it's freezing!" Kynton was fairly miserable, to say the least. Managing to get himself chased up to the mountains and too wary to attempt to sneak back down unnoticed, he felt it was fair to say he was stuck here in the godforsaken freezing cold. Wrapping his cloak snugly around himself, he trudged along atop the packed, frozen earth beneath his boots. Rubbing his hands along his sides  in a pitiful attempt to trap what little warmth was left, he pressed onward, even further up slope.

Keeping a sharp eye, Kynton's one goal was shelter to keep himself out of the wind at least for a day or so...or more. He had no idea, his mind currently swarmed by thoughts of shelter, of finding refuge from the wind that stung every time it lashed out at him.

~~

As the minutes slowly rolled into an hour, his patience began to wear thin. He was exhausted just from his search, the effort of enduring extreme temperatures draining what strength he had after being chased in the first place. Just as he was about to begin back-tracking, though, he saw it, a beacon of light. Of course, it wasn't actually a light of any sort, but it was safety, shelter, a haven. Bolting for the little alcove carved out from the rock and packed soil of the mountainside, Kynton cheered his moment of joy as he plunked himself down against the hard ground, not caring for the dull pain as he'd finally found shelter from the harsh winds, though the low temperature was still quite an adjustment. He hated Winter. For the same reasons, he hated Summer, too; for now, though, he did not care, he had shelter.

Kellethein was rather pleased.  The wolf pups he'd been rearing had finally proven themselves capable of hunting on their own, and with three of them working together, they had formed their own pack.

So the white wolf's tail was wagging quite hard as the shifted druid made his way up to his usual sheltered area.  Despite the thick fur in the wolf form, the wind was being quite a nuisance.  He paused, picking up the smell of a human nearby.  That wasn't something he was expecting, though not necessarily a bad thing.  He shook his fur out, keeping a careful grip on the cloth bundle held in his teeth, Kellethein got moving again.

----

Coming up on his usual shelter gave the elf quite a surprise, to see the same human he'd smelled earlier, sitting in his shelter.  Well.  It was big enough for two, so he supposed it wasn't a problem.  But, knowing how some people reacted to wolves, Kellethein wagged his tail harder and whined.  Pity he couldn't talk in this form.  And he certainly didn't want to be attacked in the middle of changing forms.

It was almost too cold for him. He started to shiver and huffed his discomfort as he wondered how he would get himself out of the mess he'd stumbled into. He was too distracted at first to notice the white wolf approach, as obvious as it was, standing so close. Kynton had no idea that the shelter was already taken, that he was in anyone else's spot or territory or whatnot.

When he finally turned his head a little and took notice of Kellethein in his wolf-shifted form he panicked. Despite the tail-wagging and generally approachable appearance of the wolf, which he took no notice of, he just panicked. Twirling his body around quickly to face him, Kynton pulled his lips back with a snarl and then hissed as viciously as he could, opening his mouth to display his fangs. The move was entirely instinctual as he had nothing else to protect himself than the hope of instilling fear. Bracing his hands against the ground, preparing to push himself up to fight should the wolf try to attack him, he waited, eyes narrowed and body tense.

He noticed those fangs right away.  Alright.  So the guy wasn't entirely human.  Whatever he was, it would probably be very bad to be bitten.  Time for a different tactic, one not quite so dignified.  He dropped to the ground, tail still wagging madly, and rolled over on his back.  He knew perfectly well how ridiculous he looked, but it was far better than being mauled.

Besides, the wind was cold, and this was the closest shelter.

((OOC:  sorry for the short post))

He calmed considerably as the wolf dropped down to its back, exposing its belly and submitting. He doesn't want to look dangerous... This was very odd to Kynton as his experience with wolves in the past, though limited, wasn't all that nice. He soon dropped that look of murder in his eyes, trying to soften them as he stared down at the white creature. With a final, softer hiss, Kynton finally relaxed his face so he wasn't snarling at the poor thing, though he remained ready to jump away.

It was then that he took notice of the the wolf's tail wagging, a friendly gesture as he saw it, and the little thing of cloth that it held in its mouth. Kynton cocked his head a little in puzzlement, not understanding what need a wolf would have for something like that. "Hi...what do you want, wolf?" He was talking to a wolf. He was talking to it! Surely he was going crazy.

Shaking his head a little and averting his gaze, Kynton began to relax the rest of his body a little as he put some distance between the wolf and himself, still not trusting it completely even though it was acting friendly enough.

ooc: It's okay! =)

The need for the cloth bundle soon became apparent as Kellethein let out a little yip and sat up, glad that the man no longer looked like he wanted to attack him.  Dropping the bundle on the ground, he pawed through the clothing inside til he found what he was after.  A cloak was pulled out, the edge gripped carefully in his sharp teeth.  Fortunately if he tore anything with those fangs, he was perfectly capable of patching his clothing himself.

A final glance was directed up at the man, making sure he was still calm, Kellethein shifted out of the wolf form.  The fur seemed to melt away as his face shortened and his ears lengthened, the tail shrinking away into nothing, as claws became fingers, and the elf grabbed the edge of the cloak, holding it in front of himself as he finished shifting.

Freeing one hand to brush his blonde hair out of his face, Kellethein glanced over at the other man.  "I didn't mean to startle you earlier."

He watched the wolf curiously as it went through whatever it was carrying. Puzzled, as it ended up grabbing what looked like a cloak, Kynton moved himself away from the creature as much as he could without throwing himself back out into the wind. Eyes wide as the white wolf began to shift, Kynton gasped and flashed his fangs a little, frightened as he'd never seen a shifter....well, shift. And then it was a man. An elf with blond hair and he knew he'd been staring for a long time by now.

Gulping, he slowly raised his arm and pointed at the other male. "You... Wait, you're not a wolf?" Obviously not. "I mean...um, what are you, exactly?" He hated to admit it, but he'd been deathly afraid when the wolf had first appeared, his entire body fighting to protect himself as was his instinct. Flushing a little, hating the fact that he'd had nothing to fear, really, he muttered, "I wasn't startled..."

ooc: Sorry, I took a while to get this out

Kellethein raised an eyebrow, looking slightly surprised by the man's reaction.  Rummaging through the pack, he quickly found his clothes and dressed while he spoke.  "I'm a druid.  You've never heard of them?"  Fortunately his clothes were a little warmer than the fur, and once he'd finished dressing, he wrapped his cloak around his shoulders.  The man looked skittish.  And that muttered protest.  Hm.

He held out his hand, offering a friendly shake, and spoke up again.  "I'm Kellethein."

He knew he probably came off as extremely skittish, but he was just a little jumpy by nature since he tended to avoid people in general. Staring at the man that had just transformed from the white wolf, still a little puzzled about it all, he nodded absently. As he dressed, Kynton wondered for a moment if, perhaps, the man's clothes were warmer than his own. Warmth. He craved it now, shuddering a little as the wind slashed through his clothing.

The man stuck out his hand. He wanted to shake his hand. Normally, Kynton would mutter about touching other people and walk away, but he was about to freeze so his hand shot out stiffly, shivering as he grasped Kellethein's hand. "H-hi. K-Kynt-ton." He didn't want to let go. He really didn't want to let go, this guy was so warm.

He was surprised at how cold the man's hand was.  And he was stuttering, too?  "You're freezing, man."  The elf blurted out, confused.  It wasn't that cold up here, just a little chilly because of the wind.  So why Kynton was freezing was a mystery to Kellethein.

However, what he was going to do about it wasn't a mystery.  He couldn't just sit there and watch the guy freeze, it wasn't right.  Pulling his hand free, he scooted into the shelter and sat beside Kynton, and hoped he could block some of the wind.  "Here."  He pulled his cloak off and held it out to Kynton.  "You need it more than I do."

Blast it all, was it so obvious how cold he was? Of course he wasn't exactly normal, but perhaps this man would understand; he had just transformed before his eyes from wolf to man. Kynton didn't change forms or anything like that, but he had enough going on already, he figured it would only add to his oddness.

Still skittish, he jumped a bit as Kellethein moved into the shelter with him. "S-sorry," he said softly, figuring he might as well start relaxing if he was going to freeze to death. It seemed, though, that this man had other ideas.

He couldn't believe that he was offering him his cloak. He also didn't realize, though, that the other man was not nearly as cold as he was. He hoped he hadn't started to turn blue yet, that was always quite embarrassing. Slowly, he reached out to take the article from him and hugged it around his shoulders, shivering for the comfort of a bit of instant relief. "My...th-thank you, you're very k-kind." It was a rare sight, but Kynton managed a smile then.

Strategically, he curled himself up into a ball, having two cloaks now for warmth and protection as well as this kind man who seemed unfazed by blocking that cruel, slashing wind. He didn't realize, though, that it really only seemed so terrible to him as he tended to exaggerate the circumstances surrounding "extreme" temperatures for him.

Kellethein leaned back against the rocky wall, obviously not as bothered by the wind.  A small smile appeared on the elf's lips at Kynton's thanks, then he shrugged.  "It's nothing.  After all, it'd be cruel to let you freeze up here."  There was just something in the elf that couldn't stand by while someone else, either animal or person, suffered.

"What are you doing up here, anyways?  I don't usually see people up here."  He glanced sideways, still leaning his head back against the rocks.
