Muscles rippled beneath the glossy coat of onyx fur. The claws that were extended from paws gripped the bark of a tree as powerful limbs lifted the well built feline up onto the branch. A tail swished for balance and to scare the nearby bird from the tree, who left with a caw and flutter of wings. Brilliant green eyes flashed about as they surveyed the area, moving along the branch, before jumping with grace and landing on all four feet, perfectly. The deep sound of a growl rose from the creatures throat and finally slipped past the rows of white fangs.

The panther was unusual, but only a skilled hunter or another of the species would know that. They would be able to read the intelligence that might have once lingered in those eyes, or the way the cat handled itself. It wasn’t like an animals, although many wouldn’t notice. And those that guessed this panther wasn’t what it claimed to be, would be correct. The body was one of the strong animals, but the mind had once been that of a human girl’s. Her mindset had morphed so much, that the former teenage girl truly believed herself to be this feline, this beast of complete power. Her mind and body was stuck as a panther, an animal she had previously shifted to, before one day, she remained in the body, the mind of this creature. One day, she found comfort and solace as this creature, and never came out. Did she know her true origin? No. She truly believed herself to be one of these animals, but with so much time having passed since human contact, she had forgotten all about humans.

Great jaws parted in a yawn, before she finally found the comfort of a slightly tilted boulder, who’s surface would make just a fine napping place. Her body fell to let her underside rest along the cool rock, and her front paws crossed to form a sort of pillow where her head rested. After a few lazy flicks from her tail, eyelids hid those emerald gems of eyes, and she dozed off to fall asleep, just as any other panther within the trees and forest.
