Rules
  • Stay within boundaries.
  • No overly dangerous weapons (this rule is not always observed).
  • A team is eliminated when their object is unrecoverable.
  • Team automatically loses if they attack an opposing team member who cannot fight back (unconscious, one or more arms or legs broken, etc.).

How do you play?
Tinteerium (Tin - tear - ee - yum) is a game similar to 'Capture The Flag' where each team designates an object the other team(s) must take by any means necessary. Players are free to choose any weapons to use in their goal of either defending or attacking, though many games restrict larger and stronger players in their choices as to be fair to smaller and weaker players.

Boundaries are agreed upon before the start of the game and the playing field is split into two or more areas (depending on the number of teams playing) and each team designates a spot to place their object. Teams are then free to designate attackers and defenders.

Defenders: They stay strictly in their team's designated area and try to drive opposing teams away from their object and out of their area by attacking said opposition with whatever is available. Larger and stronger players are normally chosen as defenders.

Attackers: Through stealth, cunning, or brute force, attackers are to gather information about the whereabouts of an opposing team's item before taking it back into their area. Attackers are not allowed to strike defenders without being attacked first or suffer an automatic loss.*

Winning: A team wins once they retrieve all other teams' objects and render them unrecoverable. Rewards for winning are agreed upon before the start of the game.

Making An Object Unrecoverable: Once a team has recovered another team's object, the defending team has one chance to recover that object. If the objectless team fails in retrieving their object, it is deemed 'unrecoverable' and that team is removed from the game.

In games of more than two teams, all other teams must be informed by the objectless team on when they will attack. Teams not involved in taking or retrieving are not to interfere with either team until said attack is completed. Attacking force is not allowed to take any object besides the one required to keep the one team in the game.

Alliances: In games of more than two teams, teams will usually form temporary alliances to strengthen their chances on winning. When a team has had their object taken, all teams it is currently in an alliance with are free to choose if they will help the attacking team or not. The same is true for the allies of defenders. Whatever action is decided (help or no) is applied to the whole team to prevent teams from sending half of their players to help and half to stay and defend.

*Attackers are free to strike defenders clearly engaging in hostile actions (charging, striking, etc.)
