Danny looked around frantically as everything around him went to shit. A number of bar patrons were slowly getting out of their seats, various weapons in hand. Another Duhjari had appeared to back up Matchitisiw, but this only seemed to enrage the bartender further. "I don't take orders from you, featherhead." he spat "An' quit speaking your plains gibberish and get out. This is a place for civilized folks."

Matchitisiw snorted, gaze shifting to the newcomer. "I'd say it's worth it, yeah." he replied in Duhjari, face twisting into a nasty smirk. "Besides, the only-"

"Um, guys?" Danny squeaked, looking as if he were about to cry. "Maybe we should just go. There's got to be another bar in town, right?"

Matchitisiw looked at the boy in disbelief, and likely would had said something disparaging had one of the one of the men not hurled a bottle at his head. Barely managing to duck in time, the Duhjari looked on as the bar erupted into chaos...

Dominique smiled, and began to thumb through her book. "You know, that symbol is hidden in a lot of different places. I've seen it in the main stairwell too, and the courtyard fountain-which is weird, because it fell out of use long before the school was constructed..."

She stopped herself, looking up at Laeni sheepishly. "Ah, but there I go forgetting to introduce myself again. My name is Dominique, I'm here studying arcane linguistics." She tilted her head slightly. "You mentioned being shown around, are you visiting?"

Dominique nodded her head wistfully. The carvings on the walls were a time capsule of not only memories, but language as well. The oldest visible markings were centuries old, and you could follow along as the letters and spelling gradually evolved from the Pre-Di'Veeran alphabet to modern, standerized characters. To Dominique, things like this were more valuable than even gold- though, she seemed to be the one of the few to truly appreciate it...

"Eh? Oh, that?"

The human boy's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and Dominique glanced up to where he was pointing. "It is just Old Serenian character. First Era alphabet." she said matter-of-factly, pulling an ancient looking tome out of her bag. "I noticed it too, a few years back. It represents, ah, how you say..." The student rolled her hand in midair, as if trying to flip through an invisible dictionary. "...Well, there's no easy translation. The concept it's meant to describe is too outdated for that. Simplest answer is "the space outside", but this does not quite do it justice..."

The trapdoor had pushed itself open once more, and a bespectacled young woman peeked her head above the frame. "Oh! Ƿes hāl!" she exclaimed excitedly. Her voice had a very noticable accent- a sort of rural twang that was difficult to place. "Not used to seeing faces up here! Hello!"

The upperclassman gingerly pulled herself up, pulling her thigh-length green hair out of the way before closing the trapdoor behind her. She smiled cheerfully at the younger students slinging her book bag off her shoulder. "This place is usually quiet. Good place to be studying." she said, placing the bag on the bench before taking a seat herself. "You lot here to carve your names on the wall?"

Susie stared at Ryana nervously, beginning to feel very small. Everything about the young noble was condescending, from her gaze to her posture to the way she did her hair, to...

"Oh! R-right, sorry!"

Ryana's voice snapped Susie out of her thoughts, and she hurriedly began flipping through the pamphlet. "July, July... here we go!" She pointed to an image depicting a man in a straw mask hunched over a cauldron. "Your constellation is the Shaman! It says that it represents, uh, wisdom and prophecy..."

Arthur's locked eyes with the young woman for a brief moment, then immediately shifted his gaze to the card he was holding. There was something wrong with her eyes, but he could quite place it. They were.... empty? No, there was something there, but what?

Elwin's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, causing the boy to jump. "Wait! My turn isn't finished yet." He put the card he'd been holding face down onto his active monster. "Since Seed recieved healing energy while at full health, that mean's he's ready to germinate." he said matter-of-factly. "I summon Yggdrasil to the arena.

Arthur flipped the card over, revealing artwork that depicted a gigantic ent bursting forth from a mountain. Moss covered hills still covered the creatures back, rivers falling off it's body like waterfalls. The monster's stat's were ludicrously high, of course- some of the strongest in the game. "So, I'll have him use his Root Rot attack. He's big, so he can target both your monsters at once."

"Well, it can..."

The redhead scrunched her face, thinking. Did it do anything? "It, um... Well, the thing is... What it does, is- hey, wait!"

Susie flinched as the Magister cut off a piece of the tower, sagging her shoulders in defeat. "I mean... please ask first next time..."

"S-stop it, will you?"

The Connlaothian shrunk back in his seat, cowering at the sight of the magic orb. Joseph snickered. "I already told you, alterboy. You'll have to- hey!"

A woman's voice cut through the air, and Joseph felt his hand being pulled away from the young man. He slowly turned his head to see another Serenian, electricity jumping between her fingers as she chastised him. Joseph returned her smile, nostrils flaring angrily. "Is that a fact? Well sweetheart, I'd hate to have to throw you overboard, but if that's what you want..."

The Connlaothian stared at the two mages, face beginning to pale. "Ma'am?" he said quietly. "I don't think that's helping."

Before the situation could escalate further, the Captain had returned below deck. Scowling, Joseph pulled his hand out of Leenawn's grip. He folded his arms cooly, leaning back in his seat. The young man across from him straightened up in his chair, giving Amryth his full attention. Once the captain had left, the Connlaothian looked to Leenawn dutifully. "I... have some basic woodworking skills." he said slowly, as if unsure whether it was his place to speak up. "If you had any jobs that involved fixing things, I'd be more than willing to take them."

"Kiss-up." Joseph muttered under his breath, giving the boy a nasty glare. "Never catch me speaking to a woman like that."

Normally quiet, the healing ward was abuzz with activity today. The majority of beds were now occupied by students suffering from a variety of ailments, from minor to serious. Gazing across the room, Professor Zinc sighed. "Well. This is just great..."

"Professor, thank Kia you're here!"

Alabaster turned to see an older man hobbling towards them, a gnarled cane in hand. Recognizing it as the lead healer, he nodded slightly. "Yeah. Thank Kia." he said dryly. "Who has it the worst?"

"That one, right over there." the man said, gesturing towards a girl in the back of the room. Large flakes of skin were slowly peeling off her body of their own accord, before turning white and fluttering away. Upon approach, Zinc had to do a double take...

"She's turning into butterflies. That's... wonderful."

QuoteBrahgo would be a chill roommate for Jaxius I think. Up to @Eckhart_Von_Musel if Laeni needs a PC roommate, but it's also possible that she's in a single dorm cuz of her "condition"

Generally, most students don't get their own dorm until their last year or so, when they've reached adulthood. The only exception to this rule I'm aware of is my character Aahva. He really only gets one because the Broken Seal needs him isolated, and the room is about the size of walk in closet. Laeni's power might warrent her getting her own room, but to me it seems more likely the school would just stick her with one of the other "unusual" students and hope they don't kill each other.

She could room with Lulu if you want! Most of her roommates usually switch rooms by the end of the school year in order to get away from her lmao

"No, I didn't." the assassin affirmed, shaking her head. "I... haven't been keeping tabs on any of you."

"Kinda hoped you'd just forget I was here." she added silently.

Sarah gave her cousin a gentle look. "Sorry this turned out to be a waste of time." she said, half a smile beginning to form on her lips. "It's really nice to be able to see you again, though. I mean that."

"Will you stay out of his way? You aren't helping!"

"So you expect me to just sit here?"

Belladonna and Porcelina glared at each other angrily, each daring the other to speak. The other Friends had all left Eckhart to tend to the wounded boy in peace, but the dwarven woman had insisted on staying to help. The healer sighed in resignation. "It's fine Bella." he said quietly, gently lifting Pavew's shirt to get a better look at his injury. "I, um, could use an extra pair of hands..."

"Yeah, right." said a voice in his head. "You just don't want her to yell at you."

Porcelina huffed loudly, crossing her arms. "You're just saying that to say it!" she exclaimed angrily. "I know you, Eckhart."

"Then what do you want?" cried the Eckhart, throwing up his hands in confusion. "Either help or don't!"

"Sister says she's going to shiv you if you don't hurry up." Pavew said darkly. "I'd listen to her, she sounds really mad..."

Eckhart and Porcelina exchanged worried glances. "Um..." the healer said. "Why- why don't you start by fetching a bucket of water, okay?"

Susie's heart skipped a beat. "The N'vaar family?" she thought to herself, swallowing nervously. "Aren't they a really big deal?"

"Well, uh..." she sqeaked, trying to figure out how to properly address the girl next to her. "...Miss N'vaar, it's a privilege to make your aquaintance..." Did that sound okay? That was how Mistress Whitechalk want to be spoken to, and she was a noble. She slowly took the leaflet, trying to smile through Ryana's complaining. "And I... I suppose that's what we're here to learn, right? Um..."

Susie squeezed her eyes shut, than opened them again. "Right! Um, what month were you born in?"

Amryth dissapeared from view, and the deck soon cleared as passengers slowly shuffled below deck. A tall, navy-haired man lingered for but a moment, staring wistfully as the port slowly vanished into the distance. Eventually, he too would depart for the ship's lower levels.

The mess was fairly crowded when Joseph Stonebridge stepped inside, the low hum of conversation echoing across the room. The Serenian had hoped to grab some food while everybody else was getting settled, but it seemed that most of the others had the exact same idea as he did. An exasperated sigh escaped his lips. "Of couse..."

Scanning the room for an empty seat, Joseph made his way to one of the small tables in the center of the room. There was a bag on the chair he'd spotted, likely left there by someone to claim it as "their" spot. Moving it to the floor, the man sat down lazily. He raised his hand to the table, and small ball of light appeared in his palm. Absent-mindedly twirling it in his fingers, he gazed idly across the room...

"Will you cut that out?"

An angry whisper across from him caused Joseph to look up. Sitting at the other end of the table was a young Connlaothian man, a small plate of cured meat set in front of him. His face was boyish and clean-shaven, with short brown hair neatly parted to one side. From the looks of it he was barely out of his teenage years- a deserter, or perhaps an escaped mage. The man stared nervously at the spell emanating from Joseph's fingertips, eyes wide. "You shouldn't be doing that kinda thing." he said softly, a hint of fear in his voice. "Not unless you have to."

The Serenian raised an eyebrow, reaching to scratch his goatee with his free hand. "Oh?" he said flatly. "Why would that be?"

The Connlaothian quickly looked at the plate of food, seemingly unwilling to meet Joseph's gaze. "It's... not right." he said finally. "I-I mean, there's a time and a place, and-"

Joseph snorted, smiling in disbelief. Was this kid for real? "Maybe this is the time and place." he challenged, eyes narrowing. His tone was jovial, but laced with venom. "I'm bored, yeah? So I'm gonna cast this spell to pass the time."

The boy's mouth thinned, and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Yeah, well..." he said quietly. "That doesn't sound neccisary to me..."

It was at this point that the Serenian leaned forward, bringing his hand closer to the young man. The ball of light jumped from finger to finger wildly, before finally resting on Joseph's thumb. "Well..." he said caustically, the smile on his face growing rather nasty. "Why don't you stop me then?"

The professor watched as the non-mage left, a flicker of annoyance on his face. He scratched his neck before turning to look at Sainev, one eyebrow raised. "What do you mean, 'what should we do about them'?" he asked, eyebrows drooping. "We're mages. Unlike our rich friend back there, we can actually fix issues like this."

Zinc's expression softened slightly. "Don't stew too much on what he said." he said awkwardly, beginning to walk down the hall once again. "If it makes you feel better, I, ah... didn't come from money either. It's what you can do that really matters."

"Yeah right." he added to himself bitterly. "Because look at where it got me."

The professor shrugged half-heartedly. "Let's go. There's still work to do."

Arthur looked on as Elwin piled the damage counters onto Matango, face expressionless. When the older student had finished, the boy gave him a wide grin. "'Kay. So Matango goes down, but since Faefen's effect is still in play, that means that Seed is being healed while at full health, so...."

Just then, without so much as a glace in Elwin's direction, the strange woman dug her fingernails into the portly man's hand. Arthur cowered back in his chair, the card he was about to play clutched to his chest. "Bounderies." the girl hissed softly, eyes still fixated on the pillow-headed child. "Respect them."

"M-memorized it, sir..."

The newly-formed sculpture was light, and the strength of Maergath's arm was enough to slide it a few inches towards him. Susie winced at the sight, silently praying the model wouldn't fall apart then and there. "I... I really wanted to be an archetect before..." She shook her head violently- she'd gone back to stuttering again. "Before I came to Wyrdwood." she finished, trying her hardest to channel the confidence she'd had moments earlier. "I've read a lot of books on how castles were designed in the third and second ages, so it, um, came naturally..."

Sarah flashed a grin at the waitress, hungrily taking a plate of perogis and setting it in front of her. Picking up a fork, she stuffed one of the dumplings in her mouth. "Basil was... two? Three?" she said after swallowing, wiping her mouth with a napkin. "All I really remember is that Uncle- uh, your dad basically hid him away..." The assassin looked at her plate of food sadly. "I assumed he was in the same boat as-"

The sound of loud chewing caused Sarah to pause, face twisting into a disgusted grimace. She turned to look at the wolfman, one eyebrow raised. "Uh... Could you maybe, y'know... Not do that?"

"Ewan?"

Randal tried lifting one of the larger chunks of cobblestone, gritting his teeth together. "Sometimes- sometimes you just-" He dropped the stone unceremoniously, panting. "-You just gotta let the adults do their job."

Griselda sighed audible. Shaking her head, she picked up the stone effortlessly and threw it into the crater. "Ha!" Randal said, grinning. "See?"
