Vulcan felt as if he owned the sky and the lands below it. He was able to gallop within the clouds, due to the updrafts of air and his fiery hooves. But, the air was strangely calm, and the sky seemed to take a deep breath. This told him that surely there was a storm boiling within that cloud, and soon there would be violent rain and thunder. He came to the earth, not visible from the land. He heard the thunder, and saw the lightning, knowing the storm was coming. Soon.
Flashes of lightning and the rolling of thunder could only make his hooves beat faster against the ground. He hated this water pouring down on him, but that didn't bother him as much as how close the lightning was. It seemed as if it was attracted to him in particular. He was trying to race away. As the rain fell onto his fiery body, it turned to steam. To a bystander, he would look like a fiery cloud racing across the land. He looked to the left at a strike of lightning all too close, and didn't see that a tree was slowly falling down, right where he was. He made a startled snort as it creaked and fell almost upon him but striking his leg, causing him to cry out in pain, sounding like a horse but sounding almost human in a way. He crashed to the ground, stuck now. His body pressed into the mud, he couldn't move, or save himself with his fire, as everything was too wet to burn.
A normal horse probabaly would have been worse, but he was a demon horse, more powerful than normal, but still mortal in one way or another. He managed to squirm from within the muddy ground, but something felt wrong within his leg. It wouldn't work. He fell back onto the mud, his black body and mane and tail all streaked with mud and water. He couldn't escape. He went into a panic, then settled down. All there was to do was sit and wait. Wait for something. The storm seemed as if it would pass as soon as it came. He hoped that was the case.
