Today felt like a day to be Nico, while Nico was another name of night, it was a name of temperance, bravery, justice and valor. All that went out the door as Night stepped out of the inn and into the mercilessly bright sun. "Hot damn" night muttered, summoning power into his hand, the dark blue radiance telling him to cast. As if out of nowhere, heavy cloud cover blocked out the sun. "Today I will be Baam." Baam was another name for night, but it was also a name for simply existing, for kindness.

That was how it was most mornings for Night, dead set on finally being noticed and that damned ball of fire ruins everything. Though, that said, there was nothing wrong with being Baam, Baam was likable. Baam was generous. Baam was understanding.

Night cast aside the petty symbolism of names. Thoughts likes that would inspire concern in most sane people. Night simply found it as an entertaining outlook on the day. Today he needed to just break his routine. Travel was only so exciting as you let it be, and with an inaptitude for emotion, traveling tends to be, lifeless.

Night made his way to the market, a place he rarely ever went as it was mainly active in the day. "So many people" he marveled.

The weather was so unpredictable here.

Niamh glowered up at the sky as though she could in any way control it and, with a sigh, decided she would just have to make this market trip a quick one. The sky looked ugly, like it might open up at any moment, and with it the air had grown cooler. Rubbing her arms to ward off the gooseflesh that prickled there, she shrugged it off and went back to checking out the colorful hats and sashes some lady was selling. Not that she could really afford so vain a purchase, but it was still fun to look!

She was busily inspecting a large, floppy hat with several large feathers in it, wondering if anyone actually wore these things, when a sudden gust of wind ripped it from her hands. The seller let out a cry of alarm, but Niamh dove after it without even thinking.

"Got it!" she called back, swiping for it and missing. "Shit!"

Talk about unpredictable weather.

Cursing, she scrambled after the rogue hat as the wind swept it just out of reach. Dammit! It was getting all rumpled and dirty, too! Putting on an extra burst of speed, she lunged for it, hand closing around the feather--

Right as it landed on a pair of black boots.

Erk.

Niamh froze in place, then looked up slowly to find herself uncomfortably close to the man whose boots the hat had landed upon.

"Uh...hi."

Night raised an eyebrow as the hat fell, more like flew, onto his boots. He then looked over to the woman that stood a bit too close, but he didn't seem to mind. He smiled a friendly smile and reached down to pick up the hat, offering it to the woman. "Is this yours?"

Just then a strong and prevailing wind tried to tear the hat from his hands, but his hold was true. "I didn't expect today to be so windy." He summoned the power to the hand not holding the hat, the blue radiance engulfing his hand. Flexing his hand outward then clenching his fist, the wind died in its tracks. "There, no more wind. My name is Baam by the by. Might I ask you yours?" Night handed the hat to the woman.

"Er, not exactly," Niamh said, taking a step backwards to put some space between them and straightening up. It wasn't just a move to respect the personal bubbles of them both, but to ease a thread of her own anxiety. Her last few meetings with strange heathen men in marketplaces had not gone over well and that had left her with an instinctive, automatic sort of caution.

Voice lowering to a grumble, she added, "At least, I sure hope not. "

Some shopkeepers had a 'you break it, you buy it' policy, so Light above she hoped it hadn't been damaged! Reaching out to take it, it was then that the man--Baam--flexed his other hand and it glowed. But not like fire or light, it was blue--and it stopped the wind.

She jerked her hand away as though she'd been stung. "What the hell was that?"
