Tatsu had spent weeks unmoving, body a tangle of coils in the dark recesses of a deep cave in the Thunderblacks. It was peaceful, quiet with only the scents of the earth and brimstone from nearby volcanos to, the only sounds and disturbances were tiny vibrations and quakes of the rumbling peak that rose above him thousands of feet into the sky. Growing restless, he eventually tired of the inky blackness.

Twisting and uncoiling, his long body practically slithered its way out of his hole, feeling much like a serpent, and grumbling softly at such a prospect. Once on the surface he basked in the sunlight, soaking up the warmth and converting it into energy while his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the daylight. Up here he could hear the sounds of the raging beasts that Adelans typically enslaved for their mighty dragon riders. Perhaps the dragons did not view it as such, or the riders, for that matter, but what else could it be considered?

Once sufficiently warmed and energized, Tatsu lifted himself from the rocks and glided into the air, body almost swimming through the air. Feeling the wind rush by him was exhilarating, the air was dank and stuffy underground, but this was like soaring through the very heavens. He spent hours just gliding over Adelan skies, with no particular purpose in mind. Rising above the clouds he sped through the air until Adela was far behind, crossing into Serendipity, a place he had spent a great deal of time.

He was high above the forests of Ravensway when he caught the scent of blood, it was so faint he almost missed it from such a great distance, but he could sense it too. No blood was as potent as dragon blood. Long, serpentine body immediately twisted into a graceful dive. In minutes he was on the ground, body glowing as he shrank down from his dragon form into a tall, broad-shouldered human, dressed in blue and silver armor with a large sword sheathed on his back.

Strolling confidently through the trees he followed the trail of blood until he found its source, pale blue eyes gleaming slightly, the soft glow of magic radiating from their icy depths. "What have we here?" He mused in a deep, but surprisingly soft voice. He pushed a hand through his shaggy white hair, eyeing the injured creature with curiosity. Normally he would avoid other dragons, but in the case of an injured female...well, exceptions can always be made to policy.

Sapphira hid deep in the forest of Serendipity. Her wounds were severe, she was covered in blood, most of it her own. Though in the grave state she was satisfied, even with the new wound that would forever scar her face, she now wore it as a badge of honor. She had killed the last of the tribe that had left her orphaned and alone in the world.

She was left weak though, if anything tried to kill her she would most likely be killed. She just had to hope she could intimidate anything that came near her because she was sure the smell of her blood would draw things. The longer she sat there nursing her wounds the best she could the more agony she was in; the pain of the memories of her family haunting her, the pain of there lose not eased even though she had killed their murders.

She then heard them, foot steps. They were heavy foot steps, that of a mans. She could hear the slight clank of the metal of his armor but she could also sense him, she could feel the magical energy that flowed from him. She pulled one of her short swords from her back. She didn't know what his purposes would be but she was weak and if he meant her harm she knew there wasn't much of a fight she could put up.

Then he was in view. He was tall and as pale at the moon. He reminded her of the way it looked after a big snow storm; everything covered in pure white snow. She pointed the sword up at him from her place on the ground.

"Stay back," She spoke, her voice weaker than she had hoped.

Now that Tatsu could see her, she was in worse shape than he had originally expected. That was an awful lot of blood, and her voice sounded weak. What had happened? Whatever it was, it must have been a pretty mighty fight for a dragon to take such wounds.

He lifted his hand, putting a finger to his lips in the sign for quiet. "Shh, shh." He mumbled softly, what a shame, she seemed frightened. That hadn't been his intention at all. "I am not going to hurt you, I give you my word." Moving slowly he walked over, keeping pale eyes on the sword in her hand. In her weakened state he wondered how hard she could actually swing that at him. It wasn't something he was all that eager to actually find out first hand.

"You are hurt, but I can help. If you let me." Tatsu had stopped just out of striking distance, and gestured to the sword in her hand. "If I wanted to hurt you I would have overpowered you by not in your weakened and vulnerable state, so please put that away and we can see about getting you back on your feet."

Sapphira didn't know if she should trust him. He seemed like he was sencere but what if it was just trying to kill with the least amount of effort necessary. Still she found herself lowering the sword, letting it fall heavily to the ground as she herself leaned back against her elbows. She was weak, exhausted and in pain. If the man could help her then she would let him, though she didn't understand completely why he would.

Zero

Tatsu watched her lower the sword warily, it almost seemed like she couldn't have kept holding it up if she wanted to. That actually alarmed him a little, just how badly was she hurt if she couldn't even hold up such a weapon as a short sword? All the more reason to act quickly and decisively, then. Helping another dragon seemed like the right thing to do, especially a female.

Moving quickly now, he moved to her side and knelt next to her, pale eyes passive as he let them roam over her form, taking in her injures, a grave expression on his face. Putting a hand to his forehead, he closed his eyes lightly, drawing on the magic and energy he had absorbed earlier. A soft silver-blue glow pulsed in his eyes as they opened again.

Lowering his hand, he lightly brushed his fingers across her forehead, and immediately he began transferring his own energy and power into her. Sapphira's body would be able to use that power to heal itself, or just to regain the strength to get back up. He couldn't direct it once it entered her, only she could do that.

Sapphira felt an odd sensation run through her body as soon as he touched. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling per say but it wasn't really a feeling she liked. She felt her temperature rise as the dragons energy entered her body, and her wounds slowly beginning to heal.

She looked up after a moment, gently moving her hand to push away his hand. She didn't want to take too much of his energy, only enough to get back on her feet. She didn't want to owe the man anything, he was helping her so she would owe him, but the less she owed the better.

"Thanks," she spoke, her voice sounding a bit stronger than before.

Zero

When she pushed his hand away he didn't resist. Tatsu looked down at her and gave a faint smile, though he wished she would have taken more it; wasn't as if he wasn't practically full to bursting with magical energy. After a long flight like that, he always felt so energized. Still, the idea of trying to force her to accept his help left an unpleasant taste in his mouth. Males never did anything the females didn't want them to, that was just how it was for his kind.

"Do you need help standing? Or are you planning to lay here until your wounds heal. I do not think you have taken enough to properly defend yourself if something decided to attack you." His eyes roamed over her once more and he tilted his head slightly. "What did attack you? I did not know there was much in this land that could so harm a healthy dragon."

paganchick

Sapphira pushed herself to her feet swaying slightly as she did.
"All I have to be able to do is fly, that is the benefit of having wings," she spoke, her hand moving up to touch the freshly healed wound over her eye.
"As long as another dragon doesn't try to attack me I think I will be fine," she added, bracing herself against a tree.

"A thing my people called wizards," Sappira spoke, her voice filling with a hint of pain.
"A tribe of people who were half dragon half human, a tribe that hunted my kind until I am the last standing," she continued sighing deeply.

Zero

Tatsu watched her quietly as she stood, he remained kneeling as she spoke, eyes still softly shining from the magical energy he'd summoned from within him. It was a tragic story - though briefly told - and one he was actually rather familiar with. His entire colony had been wiped out, and still he wasn't sure how it had happened. That a mighty race of dragons could be so decimated by such seemingly insignificant creatures as humans. Well, he'd thought that a long time ago, now he knew better than to think humans were anything less than extraordinary creatures.

"That is quite a tale to tell a complete stranger. So you are the last?" He asked softly, expression turning to one of sympathy as he could understand her pain, and awaken his own so keenly. It was devastating to be so alone in the world. "I know your pain."

paganchick

"Well it is quiet a deed to save a strangers life as well. Yes, of my kind. It's a sad thing, but something I can not change. I have sought and achieved my revenge. Now I must find something to occupy the rest of my long life," Sappira replied softly, looking over the man as he kneeled for a moment. He was pleasant enough to the eyes in his human form, they she didn't know what he would look like transformed.

Zero

"It was a trifle, no trouble, and no great deed. I was able to help, and so I did." Tatsu slowly rose from his kneeling position, pale blue eyes regarding her solemnly. "A long life is a cursed one, when you have no one left to share that life with. Perhaps you should find meaning through aiding others? It is the only thing that rouses me from my listless dazes. I suppose you could say helping you has helped me. It means that today my life meant something to someone, even if only in a small way."

paganchick

"I doubt I will be much of a help to anyone. The only thing I am good at is killing and fighting. I am a warrior left without anything to fight for," She replied simply before she started to adjust her hair. Even now that she was somewhat healed she was still covered in blood and an absolute wreck.

Zero

Tatsu tilted his head slightly to the side, peering at her with a curious gaze. "You could find something worth fighting for, something worth protecting. Or you could learn something other than death and destruction. Just because you have been a warrior doesn't mean you can't become something else."

He shrugged his great shoulders, it was her decision of course. He couldn't make her take a positive outlook on anything. Still, wasn't it better to devout one's life to a new purpose than simply give up hope? "How do you feel? I can give you more energy, more of my magic. It doesn't bother me to share it with you."

paganchick

"No," She said sharply, be it completely unintended.
"I mean, no, you have given me more than enough and I don't like owing people," She said, her voice much softer this time.
She let out a deep sigh, though she would never admit it she was still weak, and she had a feeling she was still in danger. Maybe not at that exact moment, but she knew she wasn't exactly safe. She had gotten life threatening injuries, something she wasn't exactly used to. She had almost always been the apex predator.

Zero

"You owe me nothing." Tatsu made a dismissive gesture with his hand, obviously not feeling that he'd done anything worth thanks or repayment. His eyes were still fixated on her, though, observing her quietly as he took in each detail.

"You are a true mess, are you not? Perhaps, if you will not accept further magic, you will at least allow me to escort you somewhere more secure. Maybe somewhere you can clean yourself up. Humans tend to get so excited at the sight of that much blood."

paganchick

Sapphira looked down, a hint of a chuckle escaping her. If one looked closely, it would seem she even was blushing softly. He was so humble, he acted as if he had done nothing, it wasn't something she was use to. The males of her species were never so humble.
"Well thanks for putting it so bluntly, that I am a mess," She said, chuckling again. She leaned down, picking up her long sword from the ground and replacing it in its sheath.
She was curious about this man, and his kind, she had never seen a dragon that could transfer its power like he did. Her body was full of magic on its own, but it was only released in some form of destructive elemental magic.

"What did you say your name was?"

Zero

Tatsu tilted his head, expression still neutral. "I am sorry if I offended, but you are a mess. Not to say it detracts from your natural beauty, merely that it is messy."

If that was truly meant to be a compliment, it was delivered rather matter-of-factly, without a hint of flirtation or tease. "I never introduced myself, but my name is Tatsu. Might I know yours? Or shall I simply call you Miss?"

paganchick

"You can call me Sapphira, and no, you didn't offend me, I found it amusing," She explained slowly. She once again leaned heavily against the tree, closing her eyes.
"I have never met a dragon that could transfer energy like that, it was, interesting, to say the least," Sapphira spoke, keeping her eyes closed as she spoke.

Zero

Tatsu watched her passively, simply observing while she spoke. It was obvious to him how weak and tired she was at the present. He wished she would have taken more from him. Sighing softly he walked over to her side, looking down at her with a hint of bemusement.

"Have you never? I suppose it is not a common gift for our kind, but my species always had a particular penchant for energy transference and healing. A blessing and a curse, I suppose, since it was that particular energy that brought humans to hunt us to extinction - or close enough."

He held a hand to her in offering, but didn't touch her. "Do you need help walking? You can lean on me, a bit more mobile than the tree, I imagine."

paganchick

"I would hope that you would be more mobile than the tree," Sapphire spoke, once against chuckling softly, moving a hand to her side as if the action hurt her slightly.
"My kind could not heal as you do, but we possess magic none the less, my species magic tends to be expelled in a much more.... violent way though. That is what has led me to be in my position. Both as being the last, and being so grievously injured," Sapphira explained. She looked at his hand, contemplating it.

She hated feeling weak, she hated excepting help, but could she really deny it at such a time.
"I can walk on my own... for now," She spoke softly before looking away.
"So do you know in what direction we should head?"
