Day 190:
Exp 1
So Dust doesn't react at all with gold. Fancy that. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that Dust is made from gold with large quantities of mana-infused water. Normal water, on the other hand, reacts fine.

Exp 2
When Dust is added to water, it seems to amplify magic that goes in but without any discernible pattern to it.

Interesting.

On that thought, would mana-infused oil do the same?

Day 191:
Exp 1
Mana-infused oil is a bad idea. The stuff explodes at the slightest tap. I'm glad I only made a small amount of it, or it wouldn't be my desk that's gone.

Day 205:
Exp 1
Success! I managed to stabilize mana-infused oil with crystal particles. The crystal I used was Chalcocyanite. It's not rare at all, but it's nasty stuff. I don't know how exactly it is doing this though. There also seems to be a upper limit that proportionally corresponds to how much chalcocyanite I added.
Exp 2
100 units of mana per 10 grams of chalcocyanite. Overdose results in mana leakage.
Exp 3
Mana infused into the chalcoil (Chalcocyanite Oil Mixture) cannot be withdrawn. How can it be withdrawn?
Exp 4
1. Attempted to use copper as conductor for magic. All five attempts failed. Crystals within the oil attached to copper plate and mana leakage occurred.
2. Attempted to use silver as conductor for magic. All five attempts failed. Nothing happened.
3. Attempted to use wool string as conductor for magic. All five attempts failed. Wool string grew white-orange crystals. Instead of conducting, it formed this crystal and infused all of the mana into it, leaving no mana behind in the oil. Interesting.
4. Attempted to use Dust as conductor for magic. All five attempts successful, but only 1 unit of mana was withdrawn while the rest were lost. The rest were formed into a crystal similar to E4.3 but it is completely yellow. Not gold, yellow.

Day 207:
Exp 1
Chalcoil crystal from Day205E4.3 is being researched for its properties.
1. Dust has no reaction to it.
2. It does not crack easily.
3. Faint mana can be felt from it.
4. Blood has no reaction to it.
5. Mana can be stored in it like many other gems but unlike crystals.
Conclusion:
It's a new gem.

Exp 2
Chalcoil Dust Crystal from Day205E4.4 is being researched for its properties.
1. Dust has no reaction to it.
2. It does not crack easily.
3. Faint mana can be felt from it.
4. Blood has no reaction to it.
5. It explodes few seconds after mana was injected into it.
6. Small injection of mana made a meter wide explosion.
7. Double the previous mana injection made a 2 meter wide explosion.
8. Double the previous mana injection made a 4 meter wide explosion.
Conclusion:
It's a safe, crystalized bomb made from Dust Magic. How neat.

akallas

Day 208:
Chalcocyanite crystal made from mana-infused water will be tested for its properities.
1. Dust has no reaction to it.
2. It does not crack easily.
3. Faint mana can be felt from it.
4. Blood has no reaction to it.
5. Mana can be stored in it like many other gems but unlike crystals.
6. Instead of white-orange coloration, it is light orange.
Conclusion:
It's a new gem same as non-Dust Chalcoil crystal.

Day 209:
Chalcocyanite Dust crystal made from mana-infused water will be tested for its properities.
1. Dust has no reaction to it.
2. It does not crack easily.
3. Faint mana can be felt from it.
4. Blood has no reaction to it.
5. It takes half as long as Chalcoil crystal before it explodes. Similar explosion size.
6. Instead of yellow coloration, it is dark orange.
Conclusion:
It's another crystallized bomb same as Dust Chaloil crystal.

Day 304:
I have been approached by the Serenian military for my "expertise in research." They want me to create super soldiers.

Typical.

Day 359:

Experimenting Dust Magic and Dust crystals on races

Subject 1: Human, male, 170 cm, no disease, Serenian, 61 years old
1. Direct injection of powdered Dust Crystal gives subject larger magic reserve.
2. Direct ingestion of powdered Dust Crystal causes internal bleeding.
2.1 Subject became non-compliant after this phase.
2.2 Started to call me names.
2.3 Subject has been strapped down.
3. Runic tattoo made with powdered Dust Crystal ink performs significantly better than regular ink or mana-infused ink.
4. Injection Dosage:
4.1 100 grams: No adverse side-effect
4.2 200 grams: No adverse side-effect
4.3 500 grams: Subject's temperature rose by three degrees celsius.
4.4 1000 grams: Subject is screaming. Subject is irritating. Body is starting to break down. Symptom is similar to extremely excessive magic overdose.

Subject 2: Human, male, 165cm, no disease, Serenian, 30 years old
1. Subject has been strapped down. He questions my methods.
4.5 2000 grams: Subject suffered immediate death by explosion. Did internal magic set off Dust Crystal's explosive trigger despite the first being in a powdered form?

Subject 3: Human, female, 170cm, no disease, Serenian, 26 years old
1. Subject has been strapped down after she assaulted me. Her sexual relation to Subject 2 has been noted.
2. Pure Dust injection dosage:
2.1 She's still screaming.
2.2 10 grams: magic reserve has grown.
2.3 50 grams: magic reserve grows still.
2.4 100 grams: magic reserve has reached the theoretical maximum for the accepted and similar cases to Subject 3.
2.5 200 grams: Subject is screaming from pain.
2.6 500 grams: Subject is experiencing acute magic overdose. Similar to subject 1.
2.7 -200 grams: Subject is using Dust to heal herself. Interesting.
3. Subject 3 has been terminated.

Day 351:
Subject 4: Human, male, 130cm, no disease, Serenian, 10 years old
1.Subject was strapped down. Subject's familial relationship to Subject 1,2, and 3 has been noted.
2. Runic array "Serl, Alghiz, Wencuz, Qeutol, Serl, Hyuma, Malkos, Ghindos"[Green Pulse] has been tattoo onto the boy's forearm using Dust ink. Normal runic array done with normal ink marks every 3 pulses of mana usage with a green hue.
3. Subject was released and instructed to use spell "Fire Stream" at dummy. Fire Stream has been recorded to show on average 1.2 rings of green mana pulse every 5 second.
4. Subject uses it on me. Average of 1.2 rings of green mana pulse every 5 second. No change.
5. Subject is knocked unconscious. I feel childish, but I removed the skin where the runic array had been inscribed without numbing drugs or spell.
5.1 I grew the skin with Conjuration instead of healing, because I intend to remove the skin again and again after every ruinc array inscription.
5.2. Subject shows great potential for magician. Suggested the military to "rescue" him after my experimentation is done. Military representative Agent "R" agrees.

Day 352:
6. Runic array "Selz, Gyul, Reck, Qeutol, Gyul, Gyul, Malkos" [Faster Burning]was inscribed upon the conjured skin with Dust ink. This runic array should allow for increased mana output at the cost of depleting the magician's reserve faster. Runic Array [Green Pulse] has also been added beneath. The spell used will be "Fire Stream" once more.
7. Subject was released and instructed to fire at the dummy. Firing at other target will be met with fist to face once more.
8. Subject fires at me, again.
9. Fist to face.
10. The pulse rate had increased from 1.2 per 5 seconds to 3.9 per 5 seconds. I also received actual damage to my armor-body. I am impressed.
11. Childish, but I removed the skin once more without anesthetics.
12. Runic array "Yol, Selz, Malkos"[Increased Output] has been applied with Dust ink.
13. Woke up subject 4 and instructed him to use spell at the dummy, or Subject 5 gets it. Subject 5 has been discovered the other day to be Subject 4's younger brother.
14. Subject 4 does as instructed.
15. Heat of Fire Stream has increased from 800 celcius to 900 celcius.

Year 3 Day 9:

Subject 4 has become a strong warrior for the Kingdom. Unfortunately, he is as rebellious as ever, but he walks the fine line. I could respect that.

On the other hand, Subject 4's sister has just died yesterday from some kind of unknown disease. What I did notice was that there was a high increase in iron in her blood to the point that it had become lethal.

I wonder how subject 4 will take the news. He knows I don't lie to him...

akallas

Year 3 Day 23:

Subject 4 has escaped the facility, but I did manage to get magical oath from him to not harm innocents before he did (it was yesterday).

Subject 100 attempted to escape as well in the chaos that Subject 4 created as he escaped, but he was too weak to break free from the Dust Golems. Unfortunately, I forgot to remove the "Soul->Dust" feature on Golemn #14, and Subject 100 was fatally converted to Dust. But there was a large amount of it.

Year 3 Day 24:

Due to how much Dust was produced from a single soul (a whole kilogram of Dust, in fact, which is worth ten times its weight in gold), Director has tasked me with experimenting further with the [Soul Dust] feature.

Exp 1:
Prisoners from all over the kingdom had been brought before me. Each of them were converted to Dust.
1. More Dust was produced from adults than adolescents.
2. Oldest of the prisoners, a half-fae of some 300 years, produced the most Dust, a whole 13.1 kg of it.
3. Youngest of the prisoners, a 16 year old human, produced less than ten grams of Dust.

Conclusion:
Either age of a soul or the age of the body determines how much Dust can be converted from them.

akallas

Year 3 Day 31:

Exp 2:
Prisoners were gathered. All were of within 5 years of each other by gender and age group. They will all be processed into Dust.

Group 1: 15-20 years old, Serenian males (prisoners)
1. 7 grams
2. 10 grams
3. 6 grams
4. 4 grams
5. 12 grams
Average: 7.80 grams

Group 2: 15-20 years old, Serenian females (prisoners)
1. 8 grams
2. 9 grams
3. 7 grams
4. 13 grams
5. 11 grams
Average: 9.60 grams

Group 3: 21-25 years old, Serenian males (prisoners)
1. 9 grams
2. 11 grams
3. 13 grams
4. 8 grams
5. 10 grams
Average: 10.20 grams

Group 4: 21-25 years old, Serenian females (prisoners)
1. 12 grams
2. 10 grams
3. 9 grams
4. 8 grams
5. 15 grams
Average: 10.80 grams

Group 5: 26-30 years old, Serenian males (prisoners)
1. 13 grams
2. 20 grams
3. 21 grams
4. 15 grams
5. 19 grams
Average: 17.60 grams

Group 6: 26-30 years old, Serenian females (prisoners)
1. 20 grams
2. 24 grams
3. 21 grams
4. 20 grams
5. 17 grams
Average: 20.40 grams

Group 7: 36-40 years old, Serenian males (prisoners)
1. 60 grams
2. 67 grams
3. 45 grams
4. 29 grams
5. 86 grams
Average: 57.40 grams

Group 8: 36-40 years old, Serenian females (prisoners)
1. 30 grams
2. 56 grams
3. 98 grams
4. 66 grams
5. 105 grams
Average: 71.00 grams

Results:
Age correlates to amount of Dust converted from souls as increasing age leads to increasing amount of Dust converted.
Still not answered: is it physical age, spiritual age, or mental age? All three affect magic, though not equally, and Dust conversion has more to do with converting subject's magic core into Dust.
Prisoners are good test subjects, but they have a consistent mentally that is not found in normal citizens.
Requested five test subjects each for the following: normal citizens, tortured citizens, tortured prisoners, non-fae-related normal citizens, non-fae-related tortured citizens, captured fae, and captured and tortured fae. Hopefully, the amount of Dust that I generated so far will convince them.

Side note:
Pain may have high relations to soul to Dust conversion. Older the subject, higher the pitch. The oldest subject, G8S5 has described the process to be "burning pits of hell" with much more profanities while G1S2 has described the process to be "burning ice cold water." The later, if my memory serves correct, is much more preferable to fire. However, this is based on bias and as such, there will need to be additional experiments for this.

akallas

Year 3 Day 40:
My request for more test subject has been partially approved. The Director looked very disturbed when I asked for faes to experiment upon. I don't think he realizes how much Dust can be generated from fae souls. Subjects are to arrive within a month. The tortured subjects will have to be tortured by myself.

I quote from the Director, "Look, Akallas. I get that you have some kinky shit going on, and that you're doing it for the military. Shit, we're the ones asking you to do it for us! But draw a line, will you? Experiment on faes? Are you crazy? Did the Ukkac dung gas finally made you mental? If they find out that we allowed you to even turn a half-fae into Dust, they'll have our heads! ... I want that part gone from the official research papers."

I also quote from my fellow researcher ξσγτ, "U-Uh, Head Researcher? A-Are you sure w-w-we're allowed to do this? I mean, for the queen's love of bones, this is madness! Y-You're turning people into literal dust!" This quote was made on Year 3 Day 28.

Fellow researcher ξσγτ was later found to be comprised. Intelligence leak, the Director told me.He became part of Group 7 from Year 3 Day 31. Spouse of researcher ξσγτ was told that she died after a wrong alchemical reaction resulting in toxic fume filling her room. We told the spouse that her loved one had died drifting off to sleep (researcher ξσγτ did not. She died screaming and begging for mercy).

Year 3 Day 45:

I became disappointed with lack of activity in the research center, so I decided to make a new experiment while I waited for the subjects to arrive.

I did feel a bit "excited" as my old body would have felt for this experiment. If it was successful, then it would be sure to fulfill some of the demands of the Director and the military for "supersoldiers."

And I would get more funds.

Exp 1:
Dust rune engraving on soldier's bones. Surgery shall be performed with healers to ensure maximum survival rate.
Note:
The Director looked very happy about this experiment and wished the entire team and then some good luck. He never did that before.

Subject 1: Serenian male, soldier, Knight under the Director's service, ξδχχαοκجحهؤينرئجτωξςεηآضثفؤؤوقحلחיההצשתפבּצ runic engraving has been selected.
1. Surgical procedure went well. We expect no infection or discomfort.
2. ξδχχαοκجحهؤينرئجτωξςεηآضثفؤؤوقحلחיההצשתפבּצ is drawn up from multiple languages I have come across in my studies. However, due to lack of grammar that I could understand, I had to make do with inherent magic given to each letter of the word. The inscription is supposed to give subject increased strength, endurance, speed, and reflex at the cost of half of his magic core being used to upkeep the changes.
3. Subject 1 has been a success! He may not be able to defeat a combat mage, but he was able to defeat a dozen of his fellow comrades in sparring when before the surgery he could barely defeat one!

Year 3 Day 48:
Seeing our success and a lack of unwanted side effect from Subject 1, the Director gave us more funding, even going as far as to provide hefty sums from his own coffers.

Subject 2: Serenian male, soldier, regular infantry levy.ضثفؤؤ rune has been engraved repeatedly upon the subject's ribs.
1. Surgical went well, although the subject is screaming on the floor about the lack of anesthesia. Oops. We didn't notice until it was too late to stop because the subject had been put under sleep when surgery began.
2. As expected, Subject 2 is producing more magic.
3. Soul to Dust conversion applied.
4. 90 grams. Subject 2 was a 25 year old, Serenian male from a normal family.

Subject 3: the Director, ξδχχαοκجحهؤينرئجτωξςεηآضثفؤؤوقحلחיההצשתפבּצ
Note:
He requested this. Dust made from Subject 2 will be used for runic inscription.
1. Surgery is a success. We actually doubled the inscription, adding another set to his thigh bones rather than just the ribcage.
2. He is two times as strong as Subject 1.

Conclusion:
Dust engraving directly onto the bone is a success with minimal side effects.

akallas

Year 3 Day 61:

Subjects have arrived.

Exp 1:

Group 1: 15-20 years old, Serenian (normals)
1. 1 grams
2. 1 grams
3. 2 grams
4. 1 grams
5. 4 grams
Average: 1.80 grams

Group 2: 15-20 years old, Serenian (tortured)
1. 10 grams
2. 11 grams
3. 9 grams
4. 4 grams
5. 13 grams
Average: 9.40 grams

Group 3: 21-25 years old, Serenian (normals)
1. 5 grams
2. 8 grams
3. 3 grams
4. 7 grams
5. 9 grams
Average: 6.40 grams

Group 4: 21-25 years old, Serenian (tortured)
1. 11 grams
2. 15 grams
3. 15 grams
4. 19 grams
5. 9 grams
Average: 13.80 grams

Group 5: 26-30 years old, Serenian (normals)
1. 8 grams
2. 9 grams
3. 11 grams
4. 11 grams
5. N/A
Average: 9.75 grams

G5S5 was a mage living a life without magic usage. The military escorts forgot to mention this little fact. G5S5 barely resisted the Soul-Dust conversion attempts. Interesting. Is this inherent in all mages?
Requested mages from prisoners.

Group 6: mages (prisoners)
1. N/A
2. 90 grams
3. N/A
4. N/A
5. 600 grams

It would seem that mages don't possess an inherent resistance but rather it was their training. G6S1 and G6S5 are both combat mages while the other three weren't.

Conclusion:
Tortured individuals produce more Dust from Soul-Dust conversion than regular people. Mages can be turned into dust by this method as well and leaves a much greater amount of Dust behind. Unfortunately, the dust left behind is inconsistent. Soul-Dust conversion can be resisted, but it leaves individual very vulnerable afterwards.
This changes the presumption that Soul-Dust uses soul as reactant for the alchemical reaction. Is it soul or magic? New data supports that magic is more likely to be the reactant than soul, despite the fact that soul is what is inscribed onto mechanics of Soul-Dust converter.
Does this mean that magic was unable to find our soul, or was the parameters for the mechanic not enough to find a soul. If it did find our soul, is magic our soul? This clashes popular theory of soul not being magic. If this theory is true, then did the Soul-Dust converter grab magic in soul's stead?
Next experiment will look deeper into how much Dust is converted from magic.
Renamed Soul-Dust Converter to Core-Dust Converter.

Year 3 Day 90:

The Director was killed in his home. The killer was a mordecai assassin. His butler had apparently been bribed because the assassin -a woman- wanted some of the Director's underwears because she "fancied" him. I "laughed" to show what I thought about that. It was a flimsy excuse. It was obvious that the butler just wanted the money she offered him to allow her in.

Still, this now leaves me without a contact from the Serenian military. It was unlikely the Director would leave behind anything inside his home regarding myself, this research facility, and my work here.

But now what?

My funds were cut off because no one probably knew about me. I couldn't get more subjects because I couldn't certainly go get them myself. I could probably depend on the slave trade for my subjects, but most of them would lack a fae-bloodline, meaning that some of my researchs will be on hold. At the same time, if I constantly buy slaves and they disappear, it won't take long before the police and the populace finds my research out.

Director, why the fuck did you have to die?

I turned the entire facility's inhabitants into Dust and converted that Dust into gold, which was a simple process of removing the compressed magic within the Dust out. I took all of the research data and the matierals. And I used that excess magic from Dust-to-gold converstion to burn the facility down.

By my reckoning, I had killed all of the researchers, subjects, animals, and even plants.

There would be no trace to me.

Year 3 Day 95:

I returned home today. I was greeted very eagerly by my aging father, who had immediately asked about how I got kicked out.

I just showed him the gold I had and told him I was well paid for my services.

On that note, my children had been doing well in the short time I had been gone. My eldest son, who had inherited the title before I left, had expanded the family's treasury by ten percent. He had also married. I now had a granddaughter. My youngest son had gone off on adventuring. My only daughter, ever the tomboy, had surprisingly gotten married.

Apparently, they sent me a invitation but I didn't show up. It seems I forgot to tell them that I would be in isolation.

I apologized to her. She threw a fireball at my face.

I resettled into my old research room, which the maids have kept clean. They did follow my orders to not look into any of the cabinets, which they did. This was good as there were plenty of dangerous substances in there.

akallas

Year 3 Day 150:

Success.

Prototype of Dust-power Automated Ndroid (DAN) is complete! I do, however, lament the fact that it took a kilogram of Dust to make it.

I used the runes for its parameters, which also means that changing those parameters will be a bitch and expensive. I used the Dust as something similar to myself, a conduit for the runes to work upon the armor and limbs as well as to act as its "flexible" bodyparts.

Most of its body had been hand-forged by myself. Just for this invention of mine, I created an alloy using pinch of Dust, copper, tin, and iron. Most of its body is made up of the alloy containing less than 0.5% iron, but its claws -its hands- are made up of the same alloy that has over 50% iron. I also applied runes on multiple areas on everything, especially rune sequence εχτμαγωιτοσιγοφακαωοναερωιλβουοφφά. It took a lot of time, but it do its job as long as there is enough mana stored within the DANs.

To store mana, I have installed a milky quartz cut cubically at the heart of the DAN's chest.

To allow it to generate its own mana, I have added Core-Dust Converter on its left hand.

To allow smooth transition of mana transfer from CDC, I have added mana-conductive quartz nodes in its left arm and multiple areas within its chest.

To store the gold it would gain from its CDC, I have added storage tank right beneath quartz heart, and gave it runes for enlarged space. If estimations are correct, then the storage tank should be able to take up up to 5 liters.

All in all, creation of this prototype has cost me the following:
*Dust (50 gold coins)
*Raw Quartzs (1 gold coin)
*Copper, Iron, Tin (1 gold coin)
*320 hours of rune working
*100 hours of alloy smelting
*My son glaring at me
*My daughter glaring at me
*My granddaughter throwing up inside my suit

It was worth it.

akallas

Year 4 Day 17:

I ran out of willing research subjects, especially after I gave my granddaughter a whole series of foolproof runic array on her skeleton that -over time- will make her nearly invincible. She didn't even feel a thing in the entire procedure! I even measured out the perfect anesthesia dosage down to the microliter. It was not an experiment as they accused my surgery of my granddaughter.

It wasn't even invasive. All I had was my Dust enter her body and graft themselves upon her skeleton. Nothing harmful nor evil. Nothing experimental. I did this plenty of times with Subject 4, 19, 203, 1091, and 3404. Especially with Subject 4, actually. The kid probably has more Dust in his body than even I do, even if he can't use them.

I don't understand why they would be so shocked and angry with me.

Because of me, my granddaughter will never have to suffer disease of any kind, she will never be weak enough to be taken advantage enough, and she will always have my support. She had reached with my help, the peak of a magical being. Even the mordecai will now have problem with her because my Dust runes are not dominant power but a supplementary power.

What means would a mordecai have to hurt my granddaughter if she can demolish one of DANs in her prime? What poison will work on her when physical immune system, grown over the years by the Dust runes, can devour even the Dust itself?

I have freed my granddaughter from all things she may or may not want. I have given her the means.

My children and my House -my dynasty- does not recognize this.

...

No matter.

As much as it saddens me to have done few things that are ... socially not accepted, I still ... love them, I suppose. I only do what I do and did what I did because I love them.

Even if they hate me for what I do.

Perhaps my time as the Head Researcher has affected me more than I observe. Perhaps I shouldn't stay near my children, lest I hurt them.

It was time to leave, I suppose. The past six months have been pleasing.

I will have to make a few DANs before I leave though. Some for myself, some for their security. May even need to add self-destruct now.

Year 4 Day 70:

For people who denounced me and my ways, they were very emotional about myself going away. While they did not show it physically or with body language, I could sense it.

It was a little magic that I learned during my time as Head Researcher. It allowed me to sense emotions. However, it was only a single spell that was just constantly on and I could only "skim."

They were sad, angry, and confused.

I suppose they would be.

Year 4 Day 76:

I arrived at Carpathian College of Magic, which I had founded several years ago. I had still managed it and taught it during my time as Head Researcher, but I suppose I was now settling in completely.

It was ... new, I supposed. I now had more rules to follow.  Like a more restricted version of the Facility.

It could be worse.

akallas

Year 4 Day 83:

A new project. This one was proposed to me by one of the professors I hired.

The man was a war maniac. He would wonder on for hours about the majesty of war.

War, in my opinion, was pointless. Resources were ravaged for no reason.

But it was possible that the military would come find me if I develop something .. new. Something less socially awkward or rejected. Then I would get more funding. More funding would definitely help my research.

Something like those cannons that the professors seem to go hours about.

I am unfamiliar, however, with modern artillery, so I would have to discuss with the professor about them.

akallas

Year 4 Day 89:

After skimming over what few hundred or so books that Professor Na'Deri had gathered for his hobby, I was to determine modern warfare.

From the Serendipity side, magic ruled supreme. From Connlaoth, it was engineering. However, Connlaoth was falling behind in terms of large scale artillery like the ones Serendipity boasts on a regular basis. Connlaoth depend on mixtures of chemicals derived from nature to provide their method of fire while Serendipity required vast number of average magicians or a few powerful ones to power their magic war machines.

A good example was the standard Axulmas-hull mana cannons. It required 5,000 units of mana per shot to be fired. Its average range is 1 kilometer and has a blast radius of 10 meters.

Connlaoth, on the other hand, had the Highlander-hull iron cannons. It required a charge of their gunpowder, a mixture of saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal, and iron projectile. Their range capped out at 600 meters or so without any explosion, but they required so much less work.

Serendipity's military have developed smaller mana cannons to counter Connlaoth's advantages in firing rate, but the mana cost has yet to fall to match an acceptable ratio.

I could see how I can design my own.

Year 4 Day 106:

I figured out how to counter Mordecai.

It was actually so simple that I felt ashamed to not thought about it before.

Psychic Disruptor. The spell would be along the same category as [Emotion Skim], except I would be amplifying waves and waves of foreign psychic signatures into the area that would interfere with mordecai's own psychic output.

...

Maybe it wasn't as simple as I thought.

Can this psychic field be stopped by anything? What would be the "signature" that would cancel out the psychic output? How would I measure it? Would it work for all or one?

...

On the other hand, the design for Aeroki Artillery Prototype 1 is nearly complete. I just need to find ... a quartz the size of my head.

akallas

Year 4 108:

I suppose I could call this a success.

Aeroki Artillery Prototype is complete.

It is much smaller than the Arcanis Magic Cannon -and its successors- developed by the Royal Institute of Magical Warfare, but it requires much less. Also unlike the Arcanis Magic Cannon, which fires a pure blast of magic, I made sure to make the Aeroki Prototype to fire metal ball rounds just like the Connlaoth.

Spec:
*5 meters long
*2 meters wide
*2 meters high
*Horizontal firing test. Average of 400 meters. Time to reach 50 meters, <1 second.

To find the firing velocity:

y distance = 1.65 meters
0 m (ground)= 1.65 m + a*t, where a = -9.80 m/(s^2), or gravity.
-1.65 = -9.80t
t = 0.168 seconds

x distance = 400 meters
50 m = v*t
50 meters = v*0.168seconds
initial velocity = 297.62 meters/second

Longest distance achieved:

45 degrees results in optimal range for all range weaponry involving mass
sin(45) = Yvelocity / (297.62m/s)
y(v) =210.45 m/s
0 = 210.45 m/s + (-9.8)t
t = 21.47 seconds
Xvelocity = cos(45) * 297.62m/s
Xvelocity = 210.45 m/s

d = v * t
d = 210.45m/s * 21.47 seconds
d = 4518.34 meters

So just a bit over 4.5 kilometers, but this does not count into wind resistance. So during windless day, I would give my gun a good 4 kilometer range.

Accuracy Test:

Set exactly 4 kilometers away, this was the result. Against large-scale targets, I would say that my artillery is perfect, but against small or singular target, I wouldn't put my money on my own cannon.

This rune sequence of Urgritic was inscribed within the cannon. It uses a quartz and Dust core to accelerate the metal ball within (usually bronze). Acceleration depends on how much mana is put in.

So far, I have been able to come up with this equation:

Acceleration = Units of Mana * 0.15, if Units of Mana exceed 450.

If below that amount, the cannon doesn't fire. Even if it does, the cannonball may as well just roll out of there.

So far, I am very satisfied with what I have created it.

Year 4 Day 122:

The Serendipity's "esteemed" military council rejected my artillery on grounds that I had developed it outside of their overseers.

Because they were butt-hurt that they couldn't -or didn't- have the idea of developing what I did. Because I "stepped" on their pride. Oh, they never explicitly said so on their formal letter, but they did with an anonymous letter.

What.The.Fuck.

Are these the same guys as the Director? Are they so inept in their jobs that they let a few emotions get in their way? At least, the Director put up with it, but these fools? These FOOLS?!

I actually felt angry. I really, really felt angry.

Fine then. Screw them. I'm certainly not going to hand them over anything from now on. If Connlaoth comes and wrecks their asses and they come to be begging and crying for help, I'll kick them out.

I also will need to put up sign about not accepting anyone from Serendipity's government. Only commoners, nobles, and thinkers for my college!

Fuck the military.

I was a fool to trust them.

Yea 4 Day 128:

To my surprise, my eldest son, Arlas, visited me. I wonder why.

I invited him in, and we had a small chat over tea. I used [Consumption] magic to "drink" the tea so as to not ruin the mood I set up.

"Father, I would like you to come back home."

That caught me by surprise.

"Do you not hate me for what I did?"

"... I do."

"Then?"

"As much as I hate you for what you did to Elana, you did it out of love that I know you have despite your current ... appearance."

Damn right, I did.

"And it's because of that we want you with us again. Elana is doing physically better than she had ever been. She was sickly before you .. worked with her, and she's a healthy girl."

"Of course. It was one of the reason I operated on her the first time. Perhaps one of the primary reasons."

"Why didn't you tell us this?"

"From your perspective, nothing would have changed if you had not found out. It would have been simply watching your child get better and it would've been the end of that. You and the rest of those who still possess a body have emotional attachments, and sometimes, these attachments force you to make stupid decisions or not make one at all. You and your wife certainly would not have been able to make the right decision. I was 79% sure."

"You didn't trust us to-"

"I didn't trust your emotions to not get in the way of your logical process."

"Because we don't know how successful your operation would have been!"

"Trust me, son. I have operated on more than a thousand people with no casualty."

"Wait, what? Was that what the military paid you for?"

"Perhaps."

...

He left soon after that, but did bid me to join the family again.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't. These emotional barriers would force situations to needlessly rise again. I cannot have conflict get in the way of my research. Perhaps I will visit, but I will not live with them anymore. It's not like they didn't have me around for years on end before.

Year 4 Day 150:

Here is the list of spells that I have managed to come up with for Dust Magic.

Dust Implosion I:
5 meter diameter explosion centering from point of impact.
Requires 1 low grade Dust Crystal
-
Dust Implosion II:
8 meter diameter explosion centering from point of impact.
Requires 1 low grade Dust Crystal
-
Dust Implosion III:
15 meter diameter explosion centering from point of impact.
Requires 1 medium grade Dust Crystal
-
Dust Implosion IV:
28 meter diameter explosion centering from point of impact.
Requires 1 high grade Dust Crystal
-
Dust Drain:
Drains a target of magic to convert into raw Dust dust.
-
Dust Fireball:
Uses smidgen of Dust dust to empower Fireball (usually twice as strong and fast)
-
Dust Inferno:
Uses a smidgen of Dust dust to empower Inferno (Fireball that is 10x as strong as regular Fireball)
-
Dust Pillar:
A 3 meter diameter pillar of explosion radiates from Dust Crystal, radiating out to 15 meters.
Requires 1 medium grade Dust Crystal
-
Dust Crystal Missile:
Dust Crystal used in this spell acts as independent target seeking magic missiles. Instead of exploding, it pierces through until magic within the crystal runs out.
Requires 1 medium grade Dust Crystal per missile + 50 units of mana (enough to light a man on fire). Lasts for 1 minute.
-
Dust Control:
Injecting Dust dust imbued with mind control magic to target.
Duration dependent on dosage of Dust, but maximum is 1 day (dosage is fatal beyond that).
-
Dust Spear:
Uses Dust dust to create a spear made completely out of Dust dust. Acts like Dust Crystal Missile. Lasts 1 minute per 50 units of mana.
Requires 100 grams each of Dust dust and Iron dust. Returns to me once the spell runs out.
-
Dust Brigade:
Armory version of Dust Spears, it creates 100 Dust Spears at once. Lasts 1 minute per 75 units of mana.
Requires 1 kilogram of Dust dust and 10 kilograms of Iron dust.

Last time I checked myself, I have a good 400 units of mana in my reserve with a recovery rate of 1 unit per minute.

Year 4 Day 301:

My youngest son came home, and the first thing he did was come find me.

I was touched.

Then he kow-towed and begged for help.

I urged him up and told him to explain himself.

He told me a story about how he had gone adventuring and met many on the road. He gathered people and ended up becoming a successful man. Then disaster struck.

In their arrogance, they had run into a unknown dungeon.

His girlfriend was trapped in there.

I ordered the few DANs to help my adventurous and distraught son while I got the location from my son.

Even with Finicky Gutfish, it was going to take a while to get to Whitesands.
