A Tale of Two Roses [Ruby Red]

"You...Literally can't eat cheese?" Jace blinked a couple times, a little perplexed by the concept. "Well, I guess if you're not gonna eat it..." With a single swift, oddly accurate motion, Jace plucked the cheese covered veggie from Rose's hand and delivered it to his own mouth. Within a mere couple seconds, the famished young man devoured the broccoli, savoring the taste of its cheesy coating. From watching him do this, one might get the strangest feeling that he had a lot of experience abruptly swiping food from the hands of others. "So, you don't like greens, and you can't eat cheese. What do you eat?...Other than cookies."

Rose narrows her eyes at the final comment. Cookies were one of the best things ever, the mere thought that they couldn't be was impossible. "What's wrong with cookies...?" She immediately asks, an accusing look about her. There was only one right answer to her question, and he was bound to try once more at persuading her otherwise.

"Nothing, of course. But..." He paused to lick a bit of cheese off his finger, fully aware of how unruly it was to do so, but figuring Rose probably wouldn't care. "...that can't be all you eat, you'd die of malnutrition." Clearly the girl wasn't malnourished, she seemed exceptionally healthy to him, so it stood to reason she had something else on her diet. Whatever else her strange palette could tolerate was what they'd probably be having for dinner, and Jace really didn't want his day's final meal to be cookies.

"Hmmf! There is no 'but' in cookie, cookies are the best!" She eagerly states, "...except for strawberries and sugar..." Rose rubs her chin, "....and cake, definitely cake is good, oh-and ice cream...." The plethora of foods started rising from her memory. "...carrots with that dressing, a-and so are brownies.... Ohhhhh yesss...." Thoughts brimming with her mother's masterful homemade desserts, Rose couldn't help but assume the look of the drooling child watching jealously over the cookie jar.

Jace started salivating at mere thought of such foods, his desire to fill his stomach somehow growing as he listened to the girl fantasize. All the more reason to keep looking for good food. "Strawberries huh? Any other fruits?" He tugged on Rose's arm as he spoke, already getting a little impatient with standing around, and wanting to continue his search for sustenance.
