The sun was nearly at its zenith, its warmth washing over a small clearing. A light breeze tickled the grass, making it dance back and forth. Leaves rustled in the wind, and the beautiful songs of birds filled the air.

The air quickly became heavy, almost as if an unseen force had displaced it. It crackled with electricity, sparks dancing about randomly. The ground began to smoke and burn, as strange runes long forgotten to the races of this world were etched into the dirt. In a sudden explosion of power and electricity, a large gate appeared. It seemed to be made of stone, vines creeping up along the pillars and over the archway. In the center, an image of trees and grassy plains swirled toward the center.

I do not own this image. All credit goes to its creater, who ever they may be.

A being stepped out from the swirling image, dressed in blue cloths with a strange purple skin. His eyes, deep blue and glowing. He looked around for a moment then sighed heavily. How much this world has changed, he thought. The being's hands started to glow as his body was lifted into the air. His body curled in slightly, then, in another explosion of power, he threw his arms out wide, with his head tilted backward toward the sky. A wave of arcane magic spilled forth from his body, spreading throughout the entire zone, reaching out to any who would be near enough to feel it. He would draw the simple creatures of this world to him. May they bask in the power of the Xan'Thral, and witness the glory that ley just beyond the gateway.

Morgan Droud

"This is..."

Morgan was astonished at the quantity of energy flowing past him. Though unable to use it himself, he at the very least understood that such a magic was powerful, and anyone capable of wielding such an amount must be someone of great standing.

Standing from his resting place under a tree he found, he spread the wings behind him and flew towards the point he had calculated the energy had originated from.

As a great stone archway and purple skinned creature came into view, he slowed, and landed a short distance away, before calling over and asking, "Was that magic a little while ago yours?"

Gawfy

Gawfy was sitting around in this new place he had just got accustomed to after getting lost so many times. After Lounging around for a few hours He decided to leave again. It was nice here but his Pockets where empty and there was always more work to be done. He Fell over as a shock wave  knocked him over. He Stood up and wiped all of the Dirt off of his armor. He then made his way to what looked like a portal and two magic users talking to each other.  Still in the wooded area he decided it would be best to keep low for now.

Garrick

Arcaniss slowly floated down to the ground near the gate. If he had a mouth, he would have smiled. Morgan would feel a presence in his mind as the purple skinned creature reached out to him telepathically.

Yes, it was. I was unsure if there was anyone around to feel my pull. I am Arcaniss, Herald of the Xan'Thral. Have you come to learn about one of Le'raana's oldest races?

He motioned to the gate behind him, indicating that the Xan'thral are somewhere on the otherside of the swirling portal.

Morgan Droud

"Pull? Oh, the magic from earlier?"

So that's what it was. The entity before him was willing to use such an amount of magic simply for an audience? This, could be interesting...

"So, this "Oldest Species," who exactly are they? What are they like?"

Morgan was a seeker of knowledge, and it's statement had peaked his curiosity.

SionnachSaysHi

Sionnach felt the pull, as far away as he was. The amount of magic being used was strong. He stared in the direction the energy came from for a moment, deciding if it would be best to continue to the city he was heading to, or to take a detour and find out just what was using so much magic.

He decided on the latter.

He picked up everything, and started walking in the direction. It would take a minute to get there.
He only hoped he wouldn't be too late to have some fun.

Garrick

If Arcaniss had a mouth, a wide smile would have spread across his face.
Allow me to show you.
Arcaniss would attempt to project visions into the man's mind, showing him the glorious wonders of Xan. Xan was a demi-plane created for the Xan'Thral by Arcaniss, the races most powerful arcanist. There was a large, singular island surrounded by a vast expanse of water. The land was lush and green with a sprawling city built against a small mountain range on its left side. Xan'Thraal of all sort of colors and sizes roamed the streets. They conducted trade, played games with the children, and many other things. The most notable thing was that there didn't seem to be a single individual that was unhappy or homeless. From what the man could see in the visions, Xan was a utopia for the Xan'Thral.

Morgan Droud

"Beautiful..."

Morgan whispered under his breath, taken aback both by the suddenness of the vision, and the paradise it showed.

"This, is a real place? Such a utopia trully exists upon this earth?"
