I just saw it for the first time last night and I loved it! (I've already gotten the original soundtrack from my good buddy.) I know this is quite random--and that the movie's been out a while ^-^;--but is anyone else a sucker for the Phantom, too?

Rhindeer

Oh hell yeah! Bwahaha!

And when I was in 7th grade, my mom and I got tickets to see it performed! I knew nothing about it then, but man...it blew me away, even when I was young. I was just...in complete awe and loved it. The live performance is spectacular--see it one day if you can! The movie was awesome. *__* Both are completely gorgeous and amazing in their own rights!

I've also seen some of the old movies, and those amused me. I wanna read the book, too. But yeah. It's great, great stuff!

My friend says that the book is funny, probably because of the horrible translation...but other than that, she says it's good.

And one of my friends went to see the live preformance, too. He said it sounded like people walking above the theater, screaming backstage, and other stuff. I'm just waiting for it to show somewhere near home so I can watch it.

Just thought I'd throw this out there...I love The Point of No Return, Wishing You Were Here, All I Ask of You, and Think of Me...I actually sang Think of Me for an audition once. ^-^
The other songs are good (except when the Prima Donna has to sing. XD)
I am pure geek! XD

Oh dear gods, madly in love with the Phantom, as so many are. I mean, who wouldnt want to be whisked away to an underground lair with nothing really to do but singand be fawned over? *le sigh* But I digress.

I'd love, absolutely love to see the stage performance. The movie, my first Phantom experience, was pretty much akin to some kind of epiphany rather like walking into a wall. (also have both soundtracks and the book >->) Most people either take or leave the whole thing, though. Wildly swinging emotions and romances aren't for everybody.

Personally, I have three versions of the Phantom in my closet. But that's just me.

((I'm stopping now, I could rave on pretty much any aspect of the subject all day ^_^;;))

No, please go on. ^-^ I love the thought of being spirited away to the underground lair--even if there are rats.

But one thing that's always amazed me was how there was a horse in the lair. It didn't have very far to travel, did it? ^-^;; Or maybe that was one of the Phantom's tricks...?

It's an allusion to the book, if I recall. In the movie it did indeed seem rather silly. Then again, good ole Erik (Phantom) had unknown amounts of underground space to utilize. Why not keep a pony? One wonders, though, who shoveld the manure...

I thought the image of the underground lake was breath-taking, both in the book and the movie!

Hehe, when I was 7 we played the orchestral theme to the Phantom of the Opera and I fell in love with the score then...but it wasn't until about 9 years later that I read the book and went to see the film.

Favourite scene from the book/movie?

Rhindeer

The underground lake scene was gorgeous in the play, too...*__* Ahah! I can remember I jumped in a lot of places while seeing the play. When the chandelier falls in the beginning, holy hells that made me jump. XD It was very bright and loud, haha! Then there was another part in the play where the phantom randomly manifests and like...did some cool bright-flashy special effects stuff that also made me nearly have a heart-attack. XD And of course just the random special effects of his voice echoing in various places in the theatre...

It was really cool because I saw the play at an actual theatre/opera thing so...they really went all out and emersed the audience in it so it felt like you were part of it. 8D

I think another favorite scene of mine in the movie is the masquerade. *_* And the whole scene for the song Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. That scene gave me goosebumps...so did the end during the last score of The Point of No Return. Gave me chills.

Zomg, you must read the book. Book!Eric 10,000x > Movie!Erik (the Phantom). Seriously. If you're into horror and geniusgasmic artistic psychotic hermit villains, then the book by Gaston Leroux is for you. The movie is good, and the play is great simply due to the awesomeness that is Michael Crawford, but the book is so much more fantastic, in-depth, and sans Pansy!Erik, Pansy!Raoul and most of the unnecessary mushyness. It's totally worth the read. My favorite scene is the Red Death scene. Here's the book version:

Wins, right? Plus, Book!Phantom is actually as deformed as he's supposed to be, as opposed to the movie's "horrible third degree sunburn Phantom :O", and the movie and musical totally cut out one of my favorite characters: the Persian. *is a sucker for horror and awesome villains* >:D

That's awesome! (*w*) I have to go get this book. And I've never gotten into horror until now (my friends have sat and watched Fatal Frame II and Rule of Rose with me in the LOCKED room. I still have mixed emotions about that...TT_TT)), so I'll definitely take a loo at it!

Thanks, Umbrella!...Do you want me to call you that? Umbrella? *holds Umbrella* Siiiiinging in the raiiiiin! XD
