The next piece of jerky disappeared down her canine throat so fast Sevi wasn't sure it touched the sides. Sure, she didn't get to enjoy the jerky flavour that way, but the instinct to eat everything quickly just in case something bigger than her also wanted to eat it was a hard one to overcome. Also, she couldn't really chew, not well anyway.
Strange, these people. Especially the most recent one, Marduk, who seemed to very much want to name her. That wasn't uncommon, people needed to name animals. It made them seem like they were supposed to be there, instead of just a wild beast that was in the house for some reason, in the same way having a tree in the house during winter festival was alright because they called it a Joy Tree, or a Festive Pine in some parts.
She'd been called Blue, Skip, Sally, Joan, Scruffs, and a dozen other names long forgotten, but Ghost was a new one.
Letting out a sigh, Sevi say down on her haunches and faced Marduk, vaguely aware of Zézette's hand on her pelt. "My name's not Ghost," she corrected in a condescending tone, "it's Sevi. Sevine if you want to know, but Sevi will do."
It took a few seconds to register the fact that that had come out of her mouth. Her human mouth.
She froze, bum planted on the floor, knees up, palms on the ground between them, in the exact position she had held as a dog a moment before. Only now she was naked. Alright, so she was naked before, but no one looked at a naked dog like they did a naked woman, and perhaps adding to that humiliation was the fact that, after a long period in dog form, the hair on her legs, crotch and armpits had grown quite a lot.
She felt like a yeti. A naked, frozen yeti whose eyes were so wide they might have rolled out if someone smacked the back of her head hard enough.
