Rumors of a strange woman helping mages escape Connlaoth wasn't typically enough to rouse Seiko's interest to the point she felt an investigation was in order. Granted, she would have certainly preferred those mages stayed in Connlaoth and joined her cause, but mild annoyance wasn't enough of a motivator to trek to the border regions. However, the physical description of the woman certainly was...not that Seiko was actively looking for company (far more futile endeavors were on her list than that, including, say, a headlong assault on the palace), but adding another pure elemental to the ranks would certainly improve her ability to make war on the people of Connlaoth.
She didn't bring many men with her, only two guards to deter an attack by some foolish highwayman. Bandits didn't scare her, they were her people...and if they weren't, they were usually smart enough to fear her. Plus, a small entourage meant faster travel, as less gear and supplies needed to be transported. It hadn't been long before they stumbled across signs of a camp, small enough that it could have only been meant for a group no more than perhaps a half dozen strong, and a few footprints still visible in the snow led Seiko and her escorts in the right direction. In just short of a day's time, they came across fresher tracks, ones that had yet to be filled in by snow. One in particular moved away from the group toward a cave...a clearly inhabited cave.
"Wait at the entrance. You'll be summoned if there's trouble," Seiko gruffly commanded, marching off without waiting for any sort of response. If the men were bright, they wouldn't have one. Nor did she wait to be invited inside the cave, instead pushing the furs guarding the entrance out of her way and stepping inside like she was entitled to be there. The fire flared larger almost immediately, and what little snow was still present on the black and crimson robes Seiko wore quickly turned to steam; the metal accents she'd sewn into her robes glowed with intense heat not long after.
"So. You do exist. I suppose some rumors are to be trusted."
