Physical Description

Alanna is a woman long since hardened by war. Her fiery red hair is starting to streak silver with age and the strain of surviving in the middle of a war zone. A once youthful and perhaps to some, beautiful woman, Alanna now is riddled with scars and wrinkles. Her expression seems to be permanently set to a frown with tired sunken-in grey fish eyes.

Her straight hair is usually kept short and tied back away from her face. Although, a few strands always seem to manage to find their ways out of the bindings no matter how many times she ties and reties them back. There is also a perpetual weariness that seems to follow her every movement despite how much she continues to push herself again and again to continue forward. It is as if her very heart and soul has left her long ago and left in its place a body made of fire and anger.

Personality

As a Mordecai she is well-suited for her duties. Alanna is incredibly loyal and honorable to her loved ones and her duty although she is not without compassion or mercy even to the enemy. She loves her country and is disturbed by the unrest and trauma both sides are suffering. However, she understands that she must remain strong for the time when the smoke clears to help rebuild and start anew.

She fights to protect the innocent and dispatch of the guilty in as a quick and painless a manner as she can. She does not enjoy or take part in the cruel torture that others seem so found of nor does she privately agree with the extremist ideals that led to such a civil war. However, Alanna is wise enough to keep her mouth shut and her head down so to speak. She follows and will follow the Grand Duke and upholds her duty to him and Connlaoth until she the day when she feels she is no longer capable or bodily able to.

Relationships

~Roland Harker (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=23158.new#new): Alanna's husband that she believes to be killed during the war.

History

Before the war, Alanna had a rather simple life. She was discovered to have Mordecaism at a young age and was quickly sent off to train, much to the pride and honor of her family. She excelled at it too and in no time at all made a name for herself as a force to be reckoned with. She was strong and bull-headed, unwilling to back down to an adversary when there was someone to protect and defend. From then on she was known as "The Lioness," a name she bore with pride even as she "roared" at others to shape up and catch up in their own duties.

In her early twenties she met another Mordecai a few years younger than her that both sparked her interest and challenged her. Up until then, Alanna had never shown an interest in settling down for life and family as she far more enjoyed the thrill of spending her days with her brethren, drinking, fighting, brawling, and bedding. However, Roland Mercer made an honest woman of her and she thought it was impossible to ever be happier than she was with him.

Sadly, war broke out a short time after their marriage and all plans of family and children were pushed aside as duty and honor came to the forefront of their minds. They were both sent off to different battles to fight and soon had only sparse letters to try and keep in touch. Alanna never felt the toll of the war so much though as the day she was told Roland was dead, that he did not return with the others and that his body had not been found.

Her heart shattered and in its place cold stone formed. She threw herself into her duties, obeying orders without question or feeling as she moved from one task to the next. Perhaps if she fought harder or pressed into more dangerous territories then she too would be brought down and not have to get back up again to face her days alone and brokenhearted.
