Title: Character Registration and Directory Change
Post by: Whim on November 06, 2020, 11:19:45 PM
Because of the new 'Le'raanian Characters' subforum, the most recent post in 'character registration and directory' always shows up as the art policy instead of the most recently made character (who would normally be relegated to one of the subforums).

Its not a huge deal, but needing to make one more click to see the most recently made character greatly reduces potential exposure new profiles might get. Its kind of nice when the first thing you see when you hit the forums is some shiny new character maybe waiting for a thread, especially for people who might be newer and a little approach-avoidant.

Hi!

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like something got broken unintentionally. In the future if you see something like this, just let a mod know as its not necessary to make a whole post about it. We're more likely to get it sorted out faster that way as well.

Until then you're still able to view new hot off the press charrie profiles with the click of a single button if you use the "show unread posts since last visit" feature located at the top of the page by your username and profile picture. Members are of course still able to advertise their characters, link them in their profiles, or search for them by location where little pink "new" flags are marked by the side of them for anyone that hasn't read the new topic.

I understand change can take some getting used to however the change is necessary as what you can't see yet is an additional sub-forum for the new continent and the characters that will go into it. We felt having it broken up this way would make it easier for new and old members to find what they were looking for rather than searching a massive alphabetised list with all the new and old countries lumped in together.

That being said I can confidently say that we have not seen a decrease in profile traffic since the change has been implemented so your concerns about new members and their profiles not being seen can happily be put to rest!

In the meantime, I will double check again though to find out what has been broken in the process either because things are hidden or were done a certain way. If you have any further questions or notice something broken or out of the ordinary please don't hesitate to contact myself or one of the team as we are more than happy to assist.

Happy writing!
