Eli was feeling especially lonely and bored one day, so he decided to invite someone with him to the Maze of No Logic. That was a mystical place where anything from anytime could appear, and everyday problems could only be solved with topsy-turvy ideas intead of stupid common sense.
He coiled up his snakelike body near the grand, cavemouth-like entrance and waited for his invitee... ((mdu))
'Hello Eli. This had better be worth it,' Fiona said as she came overa nondescript hill. She looked before her. This was going to be one of those times where she wished she wasn't a Village Idiot. She could just feel it.
OOC: feel free to mess with her as much as you like.
Eli looked at his ally and shook his head. Great, I get to explore with this idiot...
"ok, let's go..." he mumbled, obviously expecting someone of greater status... and hygene.
Fiona knew she smelt bad right now. So would you if you walked across a field and fell in every cowpat you did (and didn't) see. She looked at the sign. No logic hey, her life was a mix of mismatched logic. Perhaps her own lack of logic would counteract the No Logic. As she entered the maze a large pot fell on her head. Nope, this was going to be as annoying as usual.
Eli turned his head away from Fiona in seeming disgust. In reality, he felt bad for her, but he wouldn't dare admit it.
"Come on already.... the only reason I invited you was to see if there's treasure in here and I may need a scapegoat.... You can handle that, right?"
The real reason he invited her was that he was hoping to turn it into a date.
He swerved along the ground like a lizard at a smooth pace that would be hard for Fiona to follow into the entrance.
The entrance closed behind them and Fiona groaned. She had hoped for.
POP! Fiona was transported away and landed on a ship near Serindipity. That was one good thing at least. Shemust have been too foolish for the maze to handle. Serves the damn thing right.
----------------
Serigala screamed, landing on the floor of the maze. She looked up to see a dragon. AMAZING!
She went around the dragon, admiring its dark scales seemed to glitter, even without the sun shining into the maze. She stroked her hand long it's back. Amazing.
Noticing that it was looking at her, she smiled, 'salutations Mister Dragon. I have never seen one such as you. You are truely amazing.'
"I-er-don't-um..."
Eli stammered, startled by the change of people and this new woman's compliments.
"I... Jeez, give me space!" He put on an angry face, only a second later hoping he could take it back.
Serigala glared at the dragon, then smiled, 'you haven't met many women have you?'
She looked around the hallway they were in. The room twisted sharply and swung them across the room. Serigala landed back on her feet.
'Did that just happen or have I had too much nutmeg*?'
*Nutmeg is a hallucinagenic, Serigala is the equivalent to what we'de call a doctor.
He felt ahsamed of his outburst...
His four legs and light wieght for his size kept him balanced as the room moved.
"No, it definately moved... I could feel it in my whiskers"
He glanced at her, naiively hoping she was impressed by his abilities...
She cocked her head and looked at him. He seemed very shy, she always thought dragons would have a more robust personality. The one's in her previous Master's books did. Though she did disagree with how they had been painted as viscious beasts. Humans were so racist.
'So, how did I get here, and how do we get out?'
"Er... Figue it out!"
(He cringed)
"I mean... I... don't know?"
Stupid, Eli.... Don't I have any idea about women?
He smiled apologetically, lowering his ears and head a bit.
Think... how do I impress her?
He sighed. He was clueless.
Serigala smiled. She tried to take his mind off his embarressment, 'we'de better move forward then.'
'I'm Serigala by-the-by. What would yor name be?'
"It's Eli," he replied, grateful she changed the subject.
The path ahead of them was a long hallway with a purple door visible at the end. As the two walked foreward, Serigala striding confidently and Eli gliding silently not far behind, the hallway seemed to get longer. No matter how far they traveled, the door was never any closer...
She looked around, 'there has to be a trick to this.' It was more to herself then to Dragon Eli but she said it aloud.
'Do you know how this works?'
She took a step forward and found herself walking on the roof. She was very glad that she wore pants under her skirt.
In Eli's eyes, she had disappeared. He backed up, thinking maybe she-
Suddenly, he was on the roof as well. All this trickery was starting to make him sick...
"Let's try to think opposite" he said, struck by inspiration.
'Opposite to what?' she said as her bag came undone.
'No,' she groaned. The strong scent of bergamot oil filled the air. She wrinkled her nose.
She thought very hard about walking on the floor, trying to see herelfs picking up her little packages of herbs. Instantly she fell to the floor.
'Better than nothing,' she said as she rubbed her head.
Eli had already forgotten what he had meant, probably because he was distracted...
He wished he could join Serigala now, but instead of falling to the ground...
They were both teleported into a remote forest. It seemed normal enough... Eli judged that they were away form the maze and its magic now. He was glad for that, but he felt more sick than ever now.
OOC: are they really out of the maze or is this a trick?
IC:
Serigala was about to ay something when she saw some Bergamot. She hesitated. If they were still in the maze it could be a trick. Who knows what it could be. She went over and plucked a few leaves gingerly.
((they're out of the maze... they now have to survive the wilderness))
IC: Eli watched her, wondering what the plant was.
'Bergamot. It's the stuff I spilled earlier,' she said, looking at the dragon's puzzled face, 'I'm a herbalist. I heal injuries using medicines and skill rather than magic.'
She stood up and rubbed dirt of her skirt. She looked around. It didn't look like a trick,'so, what do we do now?'
"I don't know what you'll do, but i can just fly away..." Eli looked at Serigala.
"But maybe I could stay and help you."[/i]
'Well, you could always stay with me if you------,' Serigala noticed another door. A big red one with no handle.
'We're still in the maze,' she groaned, 'why did you want to come in here. It seems like a lot of trouble for enjoyment.'
She walked up to the door and tapped it gingerly. It was hollow. She pushed it and saw that the room was entirely black, not like night is black but a total absence of light.
Eli was eager to go into the darkness, having hidden in it so much in his life.
"come on," he said and walked right in.
'Interesting. This is an unnatural darkness,' she said, wonderring if this is what death was like.
She shifted into her wolf form and packed her clothes into her pack. It was going to be very uncomfortable to shift back. She hoped the dragon wouldn't feel too uncomfortable when she shifted back into a naked lady. She tied the pack, a trick she had learnt as a child and carried it in her mouth. She could see better in this form.
Eli saw Serigala put her clothes away and briefly wondered how she would change back...
(he didn't realize he was staring)
She misread the staring. If she had been in her normal form she would have blushed, but instead she growled.
'Never seen a garou before?' she was slightly irritated. Humans didn't like garou's or werewolves but she would have thought the dragon would be a bit more understanding.
"Huh? Oh, it's not that... I was just.... um... thinking about- I mean, um..."
He kept glancing at the pack that had her clothes in it.
Luckily for Eli, the unnatural darkness meant that neither could see his actions. Serigala smiled weirdly, it was hard to smile as a wolf. Then headed away from the foor: the most likely place the next door would be.
Eli heard her movement and followed.
((yay extra short post!))
'Ouch!' she had only taken a few trotting steps when she bumped nose-first into a wall. It was on a strange angle.
Eli remembered he could use his catfish-like whiskers to feel around. He felt along the wall, nudging Serigala ecery once and a while to tell her where he was.
When the feelers first touched Serigala, she was startled. When she realised it was Eli she relaxed. She felt around the wall, thinking that the dragon really was nothing like what she thought a dragon would be.
'You're not very dragon-like.'
"I'm not one of the European ones you're used to," he replied.
For he had a long, sleek, snakelike body, whiskers, cat ears, a horse-mane, and so on...
She didn't think he understood what she meant. She'd read many books of dragons from all over the globe, some even from before the holocaust. All the books had said how proud and strong dragons were, never that they were shy and awkward. She felt sorry for him, his strange appearance must have left him open to all sors of ridicule.
Actually, Eli was only this way around girls he liked. To anyone who got him angry, they would see his true power. He wished she knew of that... but he was just too soft-hearted to act brave around her.
(as for his appearance, he looks graceful, thank you very much)
Finally her nose shifted on a crack, she tried to push it but it wouldn't budge. She moved back and sat down, she was starting to get tired. And hungry. When they got to the next room she would make something to eat. Hopefully the dragon didn't need to eat much. Next time they came across something big enough she would hunt it.
'Er, Eli, there is a crack in the wall. It might opem.'
Eli took a second to find where the crack was, then tackled at it. At first, it didn't work. So he dug his claws into the ground and scrunched up his body to get more power, and broke a hole out of the wall. Pleased with his strength, he grinned.
Serigala went in first, hoping to change back unseen. She quickly slipped back to normal and got dressed, hoping that Eli was looking another way. (fat chance really)
He didn't say anything about it, but... he saw.
(Eli = O.O)
Serigala turned around and saw the dragon looking at her. She blushed and muttered something about wanting to go on.
Eli agreed absentmindedly.
OOC: my challenge to you, tyo write no less than 10 words per post :P
BIC:
This room reflected the sky, infact every wall reflected the sky. It appeared to be the afternoon, not too far off sunset. Serigala frowned, it was hard to tell time in this maze. She wondered what day it was and more importantly, what phase of the moon it was.
She wondered if the dragon would open up a little more as their journay progressed, 'why did you want to come to the maze?' She knew she had asked before but she was sure he wasn't saying everything. She was probably just being paranoid and annoying.
Eli looked away, afraid that his eyes would tell the real reason: he was trying to turn it into a date.
"I... thought there would be treasure."
He cursed himself for not being able to lie easily around her. Actually, he couldn't care less about treasure. What use is money when you can go anywhere you want, and use strength and stealth to steal almost anything? But he didn't want material things. He didn't really know what he wanted, but good relationships are always helpful.
((There, 85 words. Good enough for ya? :P ))
Serigala laughed, not realising that he was lying, 'why do dragons like treasure so much? All that is gold doesn't glitter.'
Serigala yawned, they had been walking through rooms for a while now. It was probably night by now in the real world.
OOC: yay for >3 words :P *splllt*
Eli couldn't answer, for that was the very thing he wondered.
He heard Serigala yawn and realized it must have been a really long time since they entered the place. He cautiously asked,
"Do you want to sleep in here? It must be night by now, and it would take a while to get out of here."
He paranoidly ((if that's a word)) thought that she might not trust him enough to sleep in the same room as him, so he quickly added,
"If you want me to stay awake and keep guard in the room before this, that's fine. I don't need too much sleep."
Serigala nodded tiredly, 'you don't have to leave though, we haven't even seen anyone else yet. Besides, you'll need sleep too.'
She sat down and pulled out some herbs to make a tissane, 'er, what type of dragon are you? Do you blow fire, water, air, earth or ice?' she was hoping he would blow water so that she could make enough tissane for him too. it was strange how so many people sh met didn't know what a tissane was.
"I blow air, but some in my species can blow water."
He remembered seeing ocean dragons back in japan who could blow geysers of water into the sky. He wished he could, but he was more of a sky dragon.
((ehe... what is a tissane?))
'Oh, not to worry. Next time we come across some water I'll make you a tissane.'
Serigala watched Eli sit down gracefully. She pulled out a dried conney and handed it to him. It was her last one but she was sure they'de come across something to hunt eventually. She then pulled out a licourice root and began chewing on it. She curled up under his belly and snuggled in close, using her backpack as a pillow.
She thought of something, 'do you think the gods can see us in here?'
Eli started to tear at the meat slowly.
"I would think so."
He was pretty comfortable like this.
"If they couldn't see in a place like this, they would miss all sorts of things all over the world."
She nodded, 'um, could you look away for a second?'
She pulled her small herbknife from her belt and cut her wrist, allowing the blood to spill on the floor and praying to both Lochani and Sangui, thanking Sangui for life and Lochani for taki care of her and her kind. She then wrapped the cut up and curled up against the dragon's belly again.
Eli thought he smelled blood, but decided it was just his food. He finished eating and rested his head on the ground.
"It's so quiet in here... so calming."
He felt himself getting sleepy.
Serigala nodded slowly and curled up a little tighter. She qiuickly fell asleep listenning to the dragon's deep breathing.
She woke again, nice and warm next to the dragon's belly. He was very sweet really, and in a strange way he was also cute. She snuggled closer to him and smiled. She stretched and yawned.
'Morning, how did you sleep?' she came up to his face and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He woke up, surprised for many reasons. At first it took him a second to remember where he was, and then he was kissed on the cheek, and it was still dark.
"Guh-uh- Good morning," he mumbled.
'Oh sorry, I didn't see you were asleep,' she said in a bouncy voice.
She rummaged through her bag for something to chew on. There were ginger lollies but there wouldn't be enough for the dragon to feel full. She picked two and put them in her mouth then handed the rest to the dragon. 'Here, eat. When we find something more substantial we shall hunt.'
Eli ate it and rose tiredly to his feet. He looked at Serigala, ready to follow her.
Serigala thought about the maze. What if they could dictate how it worked? She had an idea, 'hey Eli, what's the most illogical thing you can think of?'
A scream resounded on the walls of the maze, bounding and rebounding, again and again.
In one certain corridor, not far from where Serigala was, there was a small heap. And it moved. It seemed to be a small girl on top of someone else.
"What the hell?"
A female voice echoed, once again bouncing off the walls.
"Oh, Hikaru, please shut up. Your hurting my ears."
This time it was a male voice. The someone else pushed the small girl off and brushed off the dust with one hand.
"Oh, gomenasai," Hikaru whispered. "I'm hurting my ears too."
"We seem to be in 'the Maze of No Logic'."
"How'd you know that?" Hikaru stared at her partner suspiciously.
"It says so on the wall."
"Oh." There was a brief silence.
"Taiga, this is probably the worst situation you could ever be in."
The boy called Taiga, looked at her with a question in her eyes, but started to walk down in the corridor.
"I've been in worse."
"No, you haven't, cause you never had to stop being logical. Are you ever not logical?"
"Well, that's why you're accompanying me, isn't it?"
"Hey!"
*gomenasai= I'm sorry.
Serigala turned around, worried that Elli might be hurt. 'Elli?'
Out of all the things she had hoped yould happen from thinking of a puppet with three arms and twelve legs being used by a leggless lizard*, this was not one of them.
She frowned lightly and sighed, walking over to the two people walking away form her. 'Wait up! How did you get in here?'
*An australian lizard that has no legs, only very tiny feet
Both spun around in unison.
"Oh hello!" Hikaru said brightly, relaxing. "Nice to see ya here!"
Taiga, on the other hand, kept his guard up, and simply bowed politely. You could tell he was thinking about five things at once about the newcomer. Little did they know that they were the newcomers...
"I dunno! How'd you ge? here? It sorta went poof and then we were here. Apparently it's a maze of no logic. That's not very pleasant, I think anyway. I don't like mazes very much. And the name reminds me of clowns."
'I'm pleased to see you too,' she said. She was glad that they were friendly, at least the girl was. She wasn't too sure about the boy yet. She did howver, attempt a clumsy bow, assuming this was a custom from where they were from. When she rose she studied the boy's face slightly.
'I don't really know, it has something to do with the dragon, Elli. I think he wanted some company while e hunted for treasure. Did you see him?
'It is, but I can't quite figure it out. I keep thinking there will be a pattern to what happen-'
The room started swirling as though they were in some sea-sick artist's painting.
"What's your name?" Hikaru asked. "My name's Hikaru, and this unsociable fellow here is Taiga." Realizing that the woman was attempting to bow, she flapped her hand, gesturing no. "Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I mean the bowing. It's just a custom for both of us. Does a handshake work better?"
Hikaru held out a hand, then sat down hard.
"Oh god," she said, closing her eyes. "I hate this."
Then, with her eyes still closed tight she said, "I don't think there is a pattern at all, if it's the maze of no logic. I'd think patterns only exist in logic."
Even Taiga was getting dizzy by then and frowned.
Serigala smiled brightly and rubbed at her wrist. 'Handshakes are a bit of a problem,' she said, showing off cuts created in worshipping Sangui.
'At least it isn't dull? Think of it as an exciting adventure,' she said, though she wasn't sure she actually believed it. The boy seemed a bit... she doubt he liked her. 'Is he always so quiet?'
"Has it stopped yet?" Hikaru asked, her eyes shut tight.
"Oh yes, at least it isn't dull. Exciting indeed. But I was born and raised in two countries that basically can't live without logic so, well."
She took a peek out and realized that the colors didn't seem so bad if you didn't look at them directly.
"Oh, yes. Well, to be truthful, you gotta get on the right side of him, and then he's a little more genki, er.... cheerful? Nooo, definitely not cheerful but anyway, more energetic."
"Well," Taiga said quietly. "You could stop talking about me as if I'm not here."
He didn't seemed all that annoyed though, until Hikaru informed him that he was the one acting like he didn't exist.
Out of the blue, a monkey popped out of the air and jumped up and down on Hikaru's head. She screamed in surprise. A couple moments later she said, "That was a surprise." And then the monkey jumped over to Serigala.
Serigala on the other hand, was enjoying every moment of the swirling colours. It was one of the nicest things that had happened so far, apart perhaps from curling up with Elli to sleep.
'You lived in two countries? That must be terribly hard to keep up with. This is the first time I've even left my shire,' she said. These people were more getting just as interesting as the shy Elli.
'Forgive me, Mr Taiga,' she said, attempting another bow.
Serigala jumped as the monkey landed on her shoulders and began looking through her hair for Lochani knew what. She smiled, her face a little red, and petted the little fellow.
"Yes, two countries. It's a little hard, but," Hikaru shrugged. "I guess you get used to it."
She blinked at Serigala.
"You're enjoying the swirling? Oh, wow..." her mouth was slightly open. A moment later she realized what she was doing and closed her jaw and added, "I guess everyone has their ways. Wish I didn't mind them so much."
"Did I do something to make you apologize?" Taiga said while Hikaru took a breath. He simply seemed a little surprised that she should apologize so much.
"And what should we do now?" Hikaru added.
Serigala still found the idea of living in two countries confusing. It took weeks to ride from one country to the other, unless they lived on the border of two.
After pausing and tilting her head she said, 'comparitively, yes. Just think about it: if anything strange could happen at least it isn't happenning to us, just our surrounds.'
'For talking about you like you weren't here.' Serigala blinked in confusion and looked to Hikaru for advice.
'Try to find a door I guess, or maybe a window,' she offered. That's pretty much what she'dbeen doing since she'd been here, although she wasn't sure if that plan was working or not. It was hard to tell in here.
