Physical Description
Malila is a tall woman, reaching a height of 6'1", and she's 165lb with lightly toned muscles. She looks younger than her 46 years, appearing to be in her late 20's or early 30's. She wears a close fitting supple leather vest of a pale golden brown, as well as snug pants and well worn boots of the same material. Her boots look well cared for but bare signs of repair, hinting at the many miles they have carried her. The ties that bind the leather vest, on it's sides and front, appear to be dark purple silk cords. Her hair seems to always have a little sway to it, even when she stands motionless in a closed room. The fine silver strands fall to her shoulders in a purposeful mess of waves. Her ears and face have many piercings in them. Onyx pampels hung on electrum dangle from her lobes and a trail of six small trillion-cut jacinth climb up each ear topped by four electrum helix hoops. Her anti-traguses hold pear-cut sapphires, and her traguses, cushion-cut amethysts. She has a small electrum hoop in her left nostril, and two in her right eyebrow. She also has electrum barbells in her nipples. Her like caramel tan skin is covered in vibrant tattoos in a rainbow of colors, depicting all manner of flowers, most from Thanatos, though some of Serenian origin. Her eyes are a pale, crystalline grey that seem peaceful even when Malila is at her most angry. On her left hip she carries a long knife, and a short sword. It's rare that she draws the knife, and even more rare to draw the sword.


Personality and Background
Malila Siharath is cunning and perceptive. She is also crass and cruel. She is quite adept at using her feminine wiles, though keeping the flirtatious attitude going can be a challenge when she feels disdain for her target. She likes being in control and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty to seize the power she desires. That being said she doesn't like responsibility. Being someone that others look to for answers, or to have their needs met was never really her idea of fun. Neither was conforming to social norms. That's why she rebelled when she was young, it's why she refused to give up her elemental magic, it's why she ended up (happily) self-banished from Thanatos, and why she drifts from town to town, gang to gang. She's generally quick witted, you have to be if you want to be a successful grifter, and she tries to think ahead for any possible obstacles she might meet during a con, or otherwise. Back at her island home her mother tried to teach her to conform to the Thanati society, but she was born as an air elementalist and she was averse to hiding who she was. Even when she was young she had a strong sense of pride, and when she was bullied by a girl that was jealous of her silver hair, she wouldn't stand for the humiliation. Malila lashed out with a blast of air that knocked the girl several feet away. She lost face and dishonored herself, but what mattered to her most was her own dignity and pride. That is a lesson that has held with her her entire life. She was number one, and she would do what was best for her. Her continued use of air magic, and her attitude of self first got her into continued trouble. Nothing that required severe punishment, but eventually she earned herself Untouchable status. Even her parents turned their back on her at that point, their only child. So she hopped a ship, filled it's sails with wind as payment and soon found herself a sailor, but it wasn't thrilling enough. She eventually found herself on the deck of ship of merchants that doubled as smugglers, which she enjoyed more, but it still wasn't enough. A few months of that and she next found herself on a pirate vessel. That she enjoyed a bit more, but she quickly discovered being at sea, trapped on a ship with a bunch of unruly (mostly)men, was not for her. So she rediscovered her land legs and ventured forth on the cold northern coast of Connlaoth. She only stayed there a few days. Once she discovered their 'deep love' of mages, she found herself on a Serenian trade ship, bound for the land of the Faeries. Growing up in Thanatos gave her a knowledge of the mystical, and an appreciation, that the people of Serendipity, at least in her experience, almost completely lack. From peasants to nobles, the general knowledge of the faé and other magical creatures is boiled down to, 'they do magic things.' Apart from farmers that have to deal with basilisks eating their livestock, or mystics and shaman, though Serenians mostly don't call them that, that make potions and such for villages there is a major absence of people that know about and how to deal with magical lifeforms. So Malila has used this to her benefit. She trades in this knowledge, or in false knowledge, to prey upon help people across the land. Malila vacillates between flush and broke. She lives for her next big score, and once she has the coin, she blows it on fleeting moments of pleasure and leisure. She mostly doesn't stay in one place for long, but she returns to some of her coastal haunts from time to time. Filling a merchant ships sails is always an easy way to make a quick coin.

About Quinnlyn
Quinn wasn't always an orphan. He never knew his father, though the very young Quinn was told he was a great adventurer. His mother on the other hand, was a lady-of-the-night. When she got too ill to take on clients, the other girls at the brothel did what they could to care for her, but they couldn't care for her indefinitely. She was passed off to a man from a temple who vowed to take care of her, but she quickly worsened and eventually died. The man from the temple, Markus, did not try to heal her, but rather used her as a victim for experiments in linking multiple spirits to a single host. When she died. Markus tossed Quinn out along with all his mother's few meager belongings. Quinn went back to the brothel but the girls there would not care for him, though the madame, Ophelia, did say she would have something for him when he was older. Quinn grew up to be passably handsome, and is sweetly charming when he cares enough to be. As a boy he made two friends on the streets. A boy and girl that swore to be siblings though they looked nothing alike. Twig and Mouse were with him for several years, the three getting into all kinds of trouble together, until one day he woke up and found they were gone. Often he can be flighty or distant, choosing not to get too attached to the people around him. Relationships have mostly only ever brought him pain. Growing up without parents, in the streets of Selevea taught him to be clever and quiet. Where many would have become thieves, rogues, or assassins, Quinn became a tracker. He ventured out into the wilderness, and learned to survive out around his home as well. Through trial and error, he learned what was safe, and what was not. Quinn can often be quite snarky and sarcastic, which is likely what prevents him from being more charismatic. A slight quirk of a half grin and an arch of his eyebrow, are his common tell that he's joking even though his tone of voice may say otherwise. Ever since his youth, Quinn has always had a weakness for a pretty face. Having a prostitute for a mother and living around many others is likely to have influenced that. He also has a weakness for small children, as he wishes the wounds of his youth to never be visited upon others. The only companions Quinn ever had besides Twig and Mouse were the strays around the city. Cats, dogs, and other animals across the city know him well, and can expect a gentle scratch from the ranger.

When Quinnlyn was old enough, Ophelia, the madame of the brothel he was born in, gave him two things. A pipe and a bastard sword. He was told that both belonged to his father, and that they were supposed to be magic, but Quinn has never sensed any magic from either. Still he carries the well loved blade at his hip, and the well worn pipe is often clamped between his teeth. Quinn walks with pride and confidence in his stride. Though he often wears his hood up, his long brown hair still escapes to flutter in the wind. His lightly tanned olive skin is mostly covered by his leathers and traveling cloak. His features walk the line between common and exotic, making his ethnic origin difficult to place. Opposite his bastard sword, Quinn has a short sword, and his belt has a few pouches and a grappling hook. Hidden under his hood are Quinns dark eyes and neat goatee. One of the few things he is openly passionate about is personal hygiene. His mother's illness was attributed to the filth of her clients, and even though that likely wasn't true, Quinn maintains good bathing habits. Though he uses unscented soaps, his lack of the usual stench of the slums is often noticed by those around him.

Relationships
Quinn has no true allies, though he does know many people around the city. He's well known for finding lost things and people, by both the rich and powerful, and the common man. Though those of high birth rarely hire him, his name is still known to them, should they ever care to hire someone as lowly as he. As for companions, Quinn has three. A cat, a rat, and a raven. Though others might call them pets, Quinn insists that they are friends. They are free to come and go, and he gives them love and affection and the occasional treat. Unknown to him, the three animals are inhabited by the spirits of the only three people Quinn was ever close to. Though he didn't know they died, Twig and Mouse upon their deaths struggled to get back to Quinn to keep him from meeting the same fate. Twig bonded with the raven, Mouse, ironically with the Rat. The cat is Quinn's mother. If he knew that Markus's experiments had continued after she died, and that the grey kitten that had found him years later was his mother, Quinn would not have been able to hold back his tears.

Suna / A Decision Made in Anger (DragonSong)

        Sehrayanna, the beautiful daughter of a very wealthy merchant, stood in the crowd waiting for the names to be called. She was still fuming over the argument with her mother. Sehra was getting old for marriage by Thanati standards, and her mother was growing concerned. She wanted to hire a matchmaker and find her daughter a husband from an influential family. With her wealth and influence, it was only practical that she try and find a son-in-law that would add to her power. Sehra, having the fiery, and stubborn personality of her long dead, Warrior father, wanted to marry for love and would not waver.
        Today though, on the day of the festival,  Sehra's mother had sprung the surprise that she had hired a matchmaker behind Sehra's back and that a suitable man had been chosen to be her husband. The resulting argument had been explosive. The screaming match had scared most of the servants out of the Serenian style manor. When things started to be thrown, not only the rest of the servants had fled, but also Sehra's younger siblings. When only mother and daughter remained in the home, Sehra did something she'd never done before. She summoned her elemental magic and used it on another person. A fist made of solid water punched her mother in the gut and sent her sprawling on her back. The look of horror on her mother's face had at first terrified her, and the guilt was overwhelming. It was her mother who had bade her keep her magic a secret, while also hiring a Serenian mage to train her in its use. That guilt and terror quickly turned to anger again, and Sehra was soon running through the wilderness on the most direct route toward the city.
        As she ran, Sehra used her elemental magic to create a road for herself, soft and smooth with a slight give that pushed back with a spring, speeding her pace. She called on the wind to push at her back, giving herself a minor lift and speeding her further. The plants bent out of her way, leaving her path clear and her expensive silks untouched. And as she passed, the path vanished, the plants moved back into place, the balance of the wilderness restored.
        It took her little time to make it to the bustle of the festival, a festival she had not originally intended to attend. A plan had formulated in her mind though, a plan to spite her mother and keep control of the situation in her own hands. Perhaps her mother would not wait for her to marry for love, but if the husband would not be of her choosing, it could still be on her terms. So now, two hours after the fight, and still fuming, Sehra was waiting to find out who her new husband would be. When her name was called, she stepped forward to be paired with her new mate. Emrys, that name didn't sounds very Thanati.

Physical Description

Mowellesa is of the average for Thanati women, standing at 5'5" and weighing 108lbs. She has the common color of blue eyes, and her shoulder length hair is blonde. She wears fairly plain clothes, typically a faded caramel colored sarong, hanging well past the knee, with tops that show little to no skin. She wraps a brown shawl around her shoulders, making sure to cover what little skin she might expose. Since her family is poor, she has no jewelry, all her clothing is plain, and even if she wanted them, which she does not, she could not afford tattoos. Mo has inherited the good looks of her great-grandmother, but since she refuses to wear makeup, or do anything else to take advantage of those good looks, she is seen as plain, and even boring. Under her loose fitting clothing, she has a nice figure, and a more than ample bottom.

Personality

Mowellesa is a bit shy and withdrawn. She finds it difficult to open up to people, and has trouble making friends. She is very devout in her beliefs, perhaps even a bit extreme. She prays daily at the very least, and often four or five times a day. She is also quite prudish, which is rare among Thanati, preferring to be fully covered, showing as little skin as possible. Her withdrawn personality, prudish nature, extreme religious views, and the fact that her family is poor, has made it near impossible to find a suitor. This makes her sad, as she believes it's her duty to her god that she bear children. She plans on giving at least one child to the temple.

Physical Description
Tiny and cute are definitely words you'd hear used to describe Sehrayanah. She's under the average height for Thanati women, coming in at a total height of 4'10'', and she weighs 81lbs when fully clothed. Her delicate almond shaped eyes, are a beautiful shade of purple, and framed with long lashes. With the wealth of her family, she has had many intricate tattoos inked onto her body in vibrant colors. The thorns on the vines are done in such detail that they look like they would prick you if you touch them, and the dew on the rose petals looks fresh from the dawn. Sehra typically wears a short, white sarong that is slit up the side to expose her thigh, and a cropped, sleeveless top with a plunging neckline that exposes what little cleavage she has. It is accented with a white, over-the-shoulder sash, that hangs long, almost to her bottom, ending just before her long silver hair. She is adorned with an abundance of jewelry. Rings on her fingers and toes, bangles, anklets, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and the rest of her piercings, made of gold or platinum and decorated with an array of colorful precious gems. She usually goes barefoot, but wears loose sandals, that are easy to slip on and off, when necessary.

Personality
Sehra is adventurous, though her mother uses the word rambunctious. She has a young, liberal outlook on the world. She is both reckless and stubborn, making for an interesting combination. When she gets an idea in her head, she's very difficult to sway, regardless of the danger, or possible negative side effects. Sehra's mother says her personality is very much like that of her deceased Warrior father.

Magic/Abilities/Skills
Sehra was blessed with her mothers intelligence and ability to learn quickly. Along with her fathers die hard spirit, she persevered through her studies, no matter how hard, and has the best education someone of her cast could afford. Unbeknownst to the rest of Thanatos, even her siblings, Sehra is an elementalist. Her mother caught on to the magical talent when Sehra was still very young, and taught her to keep it secret. Her mother also secretly hired a Serenian mage to tutor Sehra in the use of her abilities, away from prying eyes of course.

General Discussion / rubber and elastic in SotE

I love to give people a little info on things that are relevant to the era we RP here. The medieval time that we play in doesn't have rubber or elastic for clothing. Everything uses buttons or other fasteners to close, and stockings or socks are held up by garter belts. yes, men did wear garter belts. Not just on their legs for socks either. They were sometimes worn on the upper arm to hold sleeves that had been rolled up, in which case they are called 'stays'. The only cases of rubber before the late 1700's and early 1800's are in the creation of rubber balls, by native tribes. So aside from that, there is no rubber, or elastic in our wonderful world of SotE. What does this mean for us? No elastic waistbands, no elastic hair ties, no rubber bands, no rubber washers or rubber sealant to create water/air tight seals, no condoms ;), and the list goes on and on. Of course, being the amazing world of SotE, we get to use magic to overcome these obstacles. I'm excited to see what people come up with.

The Wolves Den / After Action Debriefing [Rock Lady]

        Canis Rufus, the Red Wolf, sat in the room that he used as an office. It was his seat of power, the seat of power for all the Alpha's before him. There were so many secrets that this room, and the many things in it, all held. Magic items taken by each new usurper. The adjacent rooms held others, and Rufus had brought in many more. Perhaps that was how each leader grew more and more powerful. He accumulated power of his own to add to that which his predecessors had held. Some of the things in his collection still held secrets even he had been unable to discover. That meant they were likely truly powerful items.
        Rufus sat at a large partners desk, that itself had hidden many secrets. He was waiting for his next appointment to arrive. Gaze and Vent hadn't come when they were supposed to. This agitated Rufus only slightly. It was to be expected from Gaze. He was so overly paranoid that he'd never keep appointments. He could be a day late, or two hours early. One could never be sure. Zeina had just left. She didn't have much in the way of good news. She was also fairly distraught at the fact that Zahi was missing. He was not pleased to learn about that either. He was furious that that had not been the first thing he'd been told upon his arrival home. Of course it would have ruined the tiny two day vacation he'd had, but he still was not pleased. He'd let the Wolves with him in Cerenis know that Zahi was his chosen successor. That if he'd not made it back to Arca, that they were to put their support behind her. To learn that she was gone, meant that someone knew before he'd even revealed the news. Or perhaps he was being too arrogant. Perhaps it was her own loyalty to the Soot Wolves, and her dedication, that had gotten her into trouble. Whatever the reason, he'd find her if she was alive. There was no way that the rumors of her making a bid for power could be true. He chose her because she didn't want the power, she just had a strong sense of responsibility.
        Zeina had good things to say about the Blood Wolf that had been selected as her replacement. Her praise seemed a bit grudging, which he expected coming from one of the few people to call Zahi friend. The fact that Jack had picked him made Rufus skeptical of his qualifications. This meeting would go a long way in deciding whether Rufus let Arun 'Huxley' Zajac keep the position. Most often if you had to strip a Wolf of his rank, you had to also put him down. Zeina had given him some useful information where that was concerned, and his personal Shadow Wolves hidden among the Blood Wolves also had advice on that. Those same spies though had told Rufus that Huxley had been a voice of reason among the Bloods. He'd spoken of rationality, and non-violent solutions. Rufus could see the wisdom in such things, but he worried that it may veil cowardice or some other weakness. That of course wasn't supported by reports of ruthless decisions Huxley had made. Perhaps Jack had chosen well. If not, Rufus would kill Arun and appoint a new Red Jackal. Perhaps Chuck. He wondered if Blood Zajac knew that his life was on the line with this meeting.

        So out of curiosity, I decided to look up the history of women and shaving. It was an interesting find. You see all these movies of women in the middle ages with clean shaved bodies. The idea that French women not shaving is an oddity is actually a new idea. Women have been shaving their underarms for right around 100 years, and their legs for less, only since the 40's. This is due to the fact that women were always so covered up that nobody saw the "objectionable hair". The naughty bits however have been groomed for hundreds of years in some regions. Muslim women traditional removed the hair the night before their wedding, and then would continue the practice after marriage.
        Regardless of the fact that general hair removal wasn't common practice until the 20th century, the practices came with the change in attire. Clothing that showed the hairy parts of women is what motivated the trend. In SotE things are hardly realistic, and I have no objections to hair removal (not that my opinion matters), but I thought I'd share this discovery with everyone.

Physical Description
Valencia is of average height and build. She's not exceptionally fit, and this lends to her fairly innocent look. She doesn't look older than fifteen, and in her line of business, a youthful look draws a certain kind of customer. Her small breasts, once a source of angst, are now happily accepted, as they help sell her appearance. Her pale alabaster skin, so like poured milk, is kissed with freckles on her shoulders and her clavicles. Her rarely covered forearms and hands have caught the suns touch, and carry even more freckles. A smattering of freckles play across the tops of her cheeks and the bridge of her slightly upturned nose. Her big, bright green eyes, peek out from under a fringe of tangerine bangs that hides her perfectly groomed eyebrows and the piercing. Straight hair hides her dainty ears, and the piercings in them, as well as the 'III' tattooed on the back of her neck. A thin upper lip, and a full bottom, give her a constant adorable pouty look to her mouth, and her lip piercing, though not the most innocent accessory, adds to it. Her sleight frame and narrow hips are offset by the ample size of her butt. Her round buttocks more than makes up for her small bust, and it gets many slaps and pinches as she walks through the Randy Peach. She either bares her legs, or covers them in lacy thigh high stockings. They get nearly as much attention as her big ass. She wears loose, low cut tops, above short skirts or tight shorts that show off her legs. Open toed shoes show off her beautifully tended feet and cute toes, that always have fancy nail polish to match her fingers.

Personality
Val acts timid and innocent for the men that frequent the Randy Peach. For some reason it seems that men like weak, powerless women, and she is skilled at this deception. Her young look and innocent eyes lend well to it, and she feigns ignorance to the ways of the world, even to the way of her trade. In reality Valencia pretty much hates men. She spreads her legs for them and takes their money because it's easy for her, and they pay well for the experience of 'deflowering' an innocent young woman. When men aren't around she expresses her disdain for them openly. She prefers the company of women herself, and is known to the other working girls for her uncanny ability to convince straight ladies into her bed.

Magic/Abilities/Skills
Val is fast and agile and deceptively strong. She has little skill with weapons beyond the barest of self defense. She does have great aim though, and can throw a knife to hit a target at fifty paces. Her real talent though comes to fisticuffs. Since her legs are often spread or in some other position that leaves them useless to her, she learned to punch things, and punch them well. Even when upright, she prefers to dance about with her feet on the ground rather than kick. Fancy footwork has her in and out of your reach before you know it, and you've likely taken a punch to the kidney. Lightning fists, and a specialization in close quarters combat means that when Val is fighting as Moro, her vigilante identity, she ends up with blood from her enemies splattered across her face and hair. This is where her name comes from, as Moro's are blood oranges.

History
Val, being of mixed heritage, has surprisingly similar history on both sides of the family tree. Both of her Grandfathers were Connlaothian men that fell in love with Serenian women. Both her Grandmothers had some small magical ability, and refused to live in Connlaoth. Her mothers mother, was half Adelan, and had family in Adela, so it ended up that her mother was born and raised there. Her father was born and raised in Serendipity. Neither of her parents families were exceptional, nor had any wealth. They weren't poor either though. Her mothers family was masons, her fathers were carpenters. When Val's father came to Adela with his father, to work on a large project, he met Val's mother. When he returned to Serendipity, they exchanged letters for a time. Eventually, they started visiting one another, and the long distance courtship became more serious. When they were finally married, they chose to live in Adela, so that their daughters, should they have any, would enjoy the freedoms of gender equality.

As it turned out, they did have daughters. Val was the first born, with a younger brother coming next, and the third, and youngest child, being the second daughter. Her father, not being native Adelan, had the ideas of male superiority unconsciously driving him. When Val was young, he treated her like he would a son, but when her brother was born, she was all but forgotten. Her brother seemed to be worshiped by both of her parents. He was both athletic and intelligent, excelling at everything he put his mind to. Though he was perhaps a bit immature and naive. They treated him as if he could do no wrong. Her younger sister, the baby of the family, was given so much more freedom by their parents, and was sent on many trips to visit their grandparents in Serendipity. While both her younger siblings were treated well, Val herself, after being mostly ignored by her father, was treated harshly. Her mother, seeming apparently bitter at losing her freedom to the raising of children, expected Val to be all the things she couldn't. Neither of her parents gave her any freedoms, and she was punished severely for the most minor of transgressions. Though her relationship with her parents was never good, she got along very well with her brother and sister. They often referred to themselves as a single unit. 'We three'.

On the return from a rare family trip to Serendipity, her families carriage was attacked. Her parents and brother died fighting the brigands. Her brother fought especially valiant. She and her sister were taken alive. The men did not hurt her, or her sister excessively, though they weren't gentle. Eventually they were inspected by a woman at a camp. Their clothes were cut away, and they were given thorough physicals. When it was found that she was a virgin, she was separated from her younger sister, who apparently had given her maidenhead to someone in Serendipity, on one of her many trips there. That night, as Val lay alone in a tiny tent, she heard the cries of her sister, as the men passed her around. Virgins sold well, and so she was spared the six nights of rape that her sister endured, before they were both sold as slaves. They were not purchased by the same people, and so Val does not know what happened to her sister after that.

Val learned well her role as sex slave to the fat merchant that bought her. He treated her well, and even educated her, wanting a woman he could not only bed, but converse with. Lucky for Val, after only a few years, the fat man died of a heart attack, and with his death, he had been gracious enough to have all his slaves set free. Having no other skills, Val entered into the sex trade. The first thing she did with the money she earned was get the 'III' tattoo on the back of her neck. It's representative of her and her siblings.

Physical Description
Of average height and slender build, Tiberius has the pale skin of a shut in mage that spends most of his time studying and researching. His muddy brown robe is soft and comfortable, and threadbare from love. Many years old, the robe only reaches to just below the knee, and Tiber frequently wears it open, the ties hanging loose. Beneath the robe he wears a bright white shirt and grey trousers, both of a breathable cotton. Comfortable brown wool slippers cover his feet. Tiber has enchanted them to be protective, allowing them to keep his tender feet safe from even the sharpest stones, or even the broken glass of dropped test tubes. Tiber isn't the most handsome man, but his face is pleasant enough to look at. Even with all his procrastination on normal things, so he can focus on his research, Tiber takes the time every day to shave. As much as he likes his blue and white hair, it doesn't serve well as a beard. His hair reaches his ears, and is usually messy and unkempt. His eyes are a flame orange color and give all of his expressions a warm feeling. On the rare occasions that he socializes, his face is perpetually pleasantly smiling. Otherwise, Tiber usually holds a look of concentration as he is always thinking, calculating many things in his busy mind. His hands and forearms are covered in intricate black tattoos of magical runes. When he manipulates water they glow a bright blue, when manipulating fire they glow a bright red-orange color. Any time he uses a different type of magic, or his primary two in conjunction, they glow bright white.

Personality
Outgoing, enthusiastic, and extremely intelligent. Tiber loves to talk, about anything and everything. He can go on and on about new discoveries, new methods of research and so much more. Tiber is a likable sort, making kind gestures, or helping those that need it. He doesn't consider himself brave, but he would come to the rescue of a stranger even at the risk of getting hurt.

Magic/Abilities/Skills
Tiberius is a mage of overall middling power, and casts spells in all schools of magic. While most people think of the flashy evocation spells as the meat of casting, there are many finer types of magic used in enchantment, conjuration, and illusion that Tiber can cast just as well. He doesn't have much skill in shadow magic, nor in white or black necromancy. He does what he can in the first two, preferring to avoid black necromancy all together. Where he really excels is in any water or fire magic. His ability to freely mold two of the elements without limit gives him exceptional power, and many guilds have sought to recruit him. He can freely control any and all water, from what you see in a glass, to the moisture in the air, or right down to the water that makes up your body. With regards to heat and fire, he can also freely control it, just as with water. With a snap of his fingers he can create a spark and manipulate that fire to any size with little effort. He can control the amount of heat that goes into anything, and could boil a man alive by adding heat, or freeze him solid by taking it away. Needless to say, Tiber could be very deadly with little effort. Due to his gentle, and often aloof personality, he rarely gets into altercations at all. Once though, he did make ice daggers from the moisture in the air and fling them at a bully that was hurting his friend. His superb aim when controlling the ice with his magic kept the attack from being fatal. It's too bad that aim doesn't carry over to nonmagical endeavors. Tiber has no skill at martial combat of any kind, and could barely tell you which end of a sword or arrow is supposed to go into the enemy. It's a good thing there is so much water in the world for him to freeze and fling about if he gets in danger.

Things of note
His fuzzy slippers are enchanted to be very protective while maintaining ultimate comfort. The protection does not extend beyond his feet.

Physical Description
Standing at 6', and only weighing 120lb. Mel is a lanky young woman. Dressed for a life as a wandering mercenary. She wears a long hooded blue coat, almost a robe, that is trimmed in orange. The pattern on the trim is one of interlocking rings. Her alabaster face peaks out from under the hood, her pale corn silk hair sticking out like stray pine needles. Her Soft blue eyes, dart about a bit like a scared animal. She binds here already small breasts with a tan colored cotton batting so that the steel breastplate she wears will fit. She wraps her arms and hands in yet more batting, though in a darker brown color. Tight fitting black leather pants accentuate her heart shaped buttocks that is often the target of groping and slaps when she doesn't wear her coat. Leather boots, with a metal toe guard and a high metal shin plate that curves high above the knee, protect her feet.

Personality
Mel is timid in social situations, and soft spoken. She lacks confidence in all things, and though she is quite pretty, her lack of real womanly beauty has lead to her thinking she's ugly. She doesn't like to be the center of attention, and even tries to avoid praise for a job well done. Being as tall as she is, it's difficult to go unnoticed, and she often slouches as a result. Her desire to avoid notice also has her clinging to the shadows, and the fringes of populated areas. When confronted with any kind of conflict, Mel prefers to flee, but will fight fiercely when cornered.

Magic/Abilities/Skills
Mel is a skilled combatant, trained by the mercenary band that raised her. She is quick and agile, and she swings and stabs her short spear with great precision. Her magic boots make it possible for her to dash forward quickly, and the magic in her two bucklers make that dash a powerful attack. On top of her trained talents, Mel has a magic ability. Especially useful for someone as fast as her, she can see into the future an entire two seconds. This helps with dodging blows and landing them, as well as stealing and picking pockets. Of all the pockets she's picked, only Ryk Handelaar has caught her.

Mel wields a short spear that has a large barbed head, and instead of a butt, it has another short blade. The spear can actually be separated at its middle with a twist. The metal spear head and the second blade are both a pale violet colored metal called obdurium. Obdurium, even stronger than adamantine, is the pinnacle of nonmagical metal. The joining point is made of adamantine, and the two shafts are both mithril.

-Bucklers-
Mel wears a buckler on each forearm. Each shaped like a half circle, one has a square slot in the flat side, the other a matching square protrusion. When the two bucklers are connected they create a domed magic barrier. The barrier absorbs all the force applied to it with no effect on the wearer of the bucklers. The dome only faces the direction of the shields, and though extremely powerful, it drains the stamina of the user quickly.

History
Orphaned at a young age with her older brother Trent, Mel grew up with in a mercenary group that her brother joined. She cleaned up after them, and did menial tasks to earn her keep. In her free time she would watch them train and later would practice with broken and discarded weapons. Her brother would usually tell her not to waste her time, that she'd never be a good fighter. Sometimes, when he was in an especially good mood, Trent would teach her techniques with his spear. The other mercenaries treated her as a sister or daughter, and they taught her things as well. Mel was always eager to learn, and proved to be quite adept at fighting. When she was just fifteen, the mercenary band was hired to eliminate a group of brigands that were terrorizing northern Adela. The job turned out to be a trap. Several bandit groups had banded together and sent someone to hire the mercenaries so that they would come right to them. The mercenaries fought well, and that day was the first time Melyndaria killed. As her mercenary family died around her, Trent told her to run. At first she refused, but he pushed her away, telling her that she must grow strong and avenge them. Seeing the look in her brothers eyes, and knowing that the battle was lost, Mel ran as hard and as fast as she could, the magic boots her brother gave her speeding her retreat. The past two years Mel has hunted the men that were part of that ambush. Each of the ones she has located, she has killed without remorse, and there are only fifteen left to find. She has vowed that she will not rest until they are all dead. Recently she learned that several of them live in Arca. She has joined the Soot Wolves, hoping to use them to mete out justice to her brothers killers.

General Discussion / On Gun's in SotE

So here's the thing, I just wanted to point out that there is some shenanigans goin' on with guns. I've been seeing it a lot lately, and wanted to make people aware before it got crazy.

Guns are totally allowed, it's in the site lore. However, it is also in the site lore that we are based in a technological era that is similar to our late 1400's to early 1500's. They had guns, yes, but the most common gun at the time (and the most common gun here on SotE) was the matchlock ignition model. This was a single shot gun that had to be reloaded after each shot. Yes there were models that had a set up with a rotating central mechanism that had multiple touch holes and primer pans, and could be individually packed with a charge and projectile loaded. They were however, invented close to 100 years after the initial invention of the matchlock.

The most advanced gun in SotE, and of the tech era we're based in, is the wheellock. This was the first self-ignition system used in guns, replacing the 'match' that had to remain lit at all times to be ready to fire. It was highly complicated and expensive to make, and never fully replaced the matchlock. Connlaoth is the place you're likely to find these guns, and they are only used by the military (or people with lots of money to burn) due to the price and complexity. The flintlock won't be invented for 100 years from now, and there will be the snaplock, snaphance, and doglock ignition systems before then.

This may be a bummer, yes I agree, I am a fan of the flintlock, and even more so of the percussion ignition system firearms. The solution I figured everyone could get on board with is...

MAGIC!

Any problem you're having can be solved with magic. How's that work? Magic! How'd you survive? Magic! Where'd you get that food and water here in the middle of this barren wasteland? MAGIC!

Magic is my cure all, especially for guns. I just made a cool new magic pistol for my new character. Looks like a wheellock pistol but it's MAGIC! The thing to remember about magic though, is that it always has a price or limit for mortals.

Arjan is 6', 184lb, and very fit. He wears shirts of varying colors beneath a black vest and cravat. His fine coat, worn over fine black pants, is one of many he owns. Always trimmed in black, each coat is a different color, to match or compliment his many shirts. His short, jet black, loosely curly hair, is always stylishly messy, and kept cropped especially short on the sides and back. He wears no facial hair, preferring to keep his face smooth and looking young. His handsome smile of white teeth comes reluctantly, and he most often bears a bored expression. His tan skin is vibrant with his youth and glows with health, free of pocks or blemishes that often mar the faces of young men. His eyes are a cool grey, like the clouds on a dreary day, and move about languidly, closely observing the world around him. His shiny black boots are a fine Adelan leather that reach mid calf. They are thick and sturdy, and cut similarly to those worn by the Queen's Guard in Arca. Being left handed, Arjan carries his sword on his right hip. The longsword, crafted in the finest steel, was forged in the broad bladed style used by Connlaoth footmen. The finely crafted blade has a platinum hilt, decorated with sapphires and the image of an alaunt veantre. At his left hip, Arjan often carries a magic pistol styled in the fashion of the Connlaoth military's wheellock design. The pistol is decorated with platinum and sapphires, much as his sword is. Arjan has a youthfully handsome look to him, and he makes an effort to always look his best. This has more to do with his own self image, rather than with making himself look good for others, and is evident in his prideful stride.

Personality
Coming from a family with two happy, loving, morally sound, intelligent, and motivated parents, Arjan had good examples of what a person should be. Confident and proud, but lacking hubris, Arjan strives to improve himself, but is aware that someone else will always be his better. He also believes that his life fulfills a special purpose in the world, though he's not yet sure what that is. Arjan knows his strengths and has accepted his weaknesses, but that doesn't stop him from trying to turn them into strengths. He usually knows what he wants, easily defining his goals and striving to achieve them. He is adept at navigating various social situations with seeming ease, adapting well to fit in any environment. He knows how to endear himself to others and how to take compliments and criticisms gracefully. Though truthfully, he is often too bored to take many social affairs seriously. Arjan enjoys a healthy competition, loving to test his mettle against the best efforts of others. He is confident that he will win, even when he actually loses, but feels a loss should be considered a win, since losing, short of death, is how you learn to improve. Since he is not afraid to lose, or to be wrong, he is not afraid of risks. While he is confident in his abilities, he knows instinctively that nobody wins all the time, and that with the experience of the loss, he will likely win out the next time. Arjan works hard at everything he does, knowing that the best path to achieving his goals is through putting in hard effort. No matter how exhaustive or arduous, he never gives up. Even when it sometimes seems impossible, Arjan would rather try and fail and try again, than to give in and let doubt take over. He is very accepting of others, taking them as they come, no matter their shortcomings, though the boredom and monotony of noble life has him avoiding the repeated conversations of his peers. Ever aware and sharp minded, Arjan is good at quickly sizing up other people and figuring out social hierarchies and situations. Constantly observing others, he is also quick to pick out lies and deceptions, since he is quite adept at reading hidden queues in body language. A dislike of untruths, leads Arjan to be be honest, to a fault. Though normally very eloquent, he sometimes fails to deliver poor opinions in a tactful way. This comes from his belief that unhappy truths, should not be dressed up, but taken as they are, truth being black and white in his eyes. Arjan is a fairly positive person, knowing how to assuage doubts, conquer fears, and how to find every silver lining in a sky gone gray with storm clouds. He knows that while failure is a part of everyday life, even in failure fresh starts are always possible.

Magic/Abilities/Skills
Arjan has no magic powers or supernatural abilities. He is however, like his parents, very intelligent. With the many instructors hired by his parents, Arjan has come to be very well educated in many areas. Reading, writing, sword fighting, horseback riding, archery, fisticuffs, wrestling, history, language, literature & art, philosophy, religion, foreign cultures, etiquette, dancing, economics, war & military tactics, geography, tracking & game hunting, politics, psychology, biology, mathematics, logic, agriculture, business, and law.

Gear
-Blue Steel-
The irony of this blade is not readily apparent, but once known, quite amusing. Using only the best steel, this blade was crafted in Connlaoth. Intended for a master of the blade, it was given a perfectly balanced hilt that lacked in decoration. It served it's purpose well, being handed from master to student for several generations. It remained in Connlaoth, until one of it's bearers was slain in a duel with a foreigner. Taken as a prize, the sword was eventually sold. It then traded hands several times over the next few years, until a traveling merchant brought it to Arca. Giove Sivorn, Arjan's father, recognizing the fine craftsmanship and superb quality of the material, bought the blade at a great price. He took it to a blacksmith to have the hilt and crossguard removed and redone. Working with a jeweler, the blacksmith wrapped the blades tang in a new hilt of platinum decorated with sapphires. Carefully weighed and measured, the new hilt and crossguard maintained the balance of the blade. Finished off with a stylized depiction of a leaping alaunt veantre, the newly re-hilted sword was then taken by Giove to an enchanter. The mage was employed with the task of enhancing the blade with magic. Using etching and oils rubbed into the sword, the mage imbued the weapon with magical protection. As long as his enchantment remained, the blade would never dull or rust, remaining perfectly sharp, and would be near impossible to break without using magic. The sword was finished just in time to be presented to Arjan on his fifteenth birthday. The magically enhanced sword of Connlaoth craftsmanship has hung at his hip ever since.

-Magic Pistol-
Rather than using primer in a flash pan to ignite a gunpowder charge, launching the loaded ammunition, this pistol is magic. It's design was meant to mimic the shape and style of the Connlaoth wheellock pistol, the most advanced pistol in the world. Since the technology and design of the pistol are not easy to make, and quite expensive to maintain, it has become a practice of some rich nobles to create magical replicas. The one that hangs at Arjan's hip is beautifully crafted from steel. Decorated with platinum and sapphires to match his sword, the gun has a stylized image of a vulture etched along its side. The wheellock pistols normally steel mechanism has been replaced with a chamber of magically attuned precious metals. In place of the wheel shaft that normally protrudes from the wheel cover, is an enchanted diamond that acts as the energy source for the gun. Where the touch hole would normally be located, is a tiny ruby that flickers with magic when the gun is ready to fire. The different enchantments weaved into the weapon allow the pistol the ability to shoot magic projectiles. After each shot the gun must recharge itself, drawing latent magical energies from the environment. Even the most practiced and fastest loaders of the Connlaoth military cannot match this weapons speed, as it can shoot a third projectile before they even have their second loaded.

        Giove Sivorn, Arjan's father, is a tall and strong man in his fifty-first year. It is often remarked that Arjan looks much like his father did at his age. It has been Sivorn practice to always teach their children as if they may one day be ruler of Serendipity. Though the family does not have aspirations of those kind, they have always believed that it is best to be prepared. As Giove would tell Arjan when he complained about studying, nobody wants to have a stupid Monarch. Handsome and good humored, Lord Sivorn is very popular at social events.

        Хера Sivorn, Arjan's forty-three year old mother, is stately and beautiful. Giove is proud to admit that his wife is the more intelligent of the two of them, and that she has the mind for business and money. The Sivorn family was already wealthy and well established, but Xepa has cemented their place in the economical hierarchy of Arca. The Sivorn family owns a few mines that earn them a steady income, but it's their mediation that has earned them their more recent wealth. If you can't agree on terms, the Sivorn family helps both parties reach a mutually satisfying compromise. Xepa is the one that handles most of these situations.

        Arjan is the middle child and has three sisters and a brother.

        Tulivuori Sivorn, first born and heir to the Sivorn legacy, is Arjan’s older brother. At twenty-four he is already making a name for himself in the current political climate of Kia’s Court. He has somewhat radical views on equality and is considered the champion of the commoners. He’s been fighting to bring to light the struggles of the poor and the exploitation of marginalized communities within Kia’s Court. His virtuous stance is not often appreciated by the greedy, but the minor changes he has influenced have boosted the economy and this have garnered him some positive publicity.

        Eileithyia Sivorn, second born child of the Sivorn family, is Arjan’s older sister. At twenty-one, it is uncommon of her to not be married or at the very least, entertaining suitors. Although this would normally cause concern within a noble family, the Sivorn’s have only been loving and supportive of their daughter. This has lead Eileithyia to feel comfortable pursuing her art. As a result, she has established herself as an unparalleled painter and sculptor, creating works of art that sought by collectors all across Le’raana.

        Hebe Sivorn, Arjan’s sister, is the fourth child of the Sivorn family. The sixteen year old young woman is always on her best behavior. She is always very focused on her studies and dreams of someday surpassing her mother in her business acumen. She also hopes to find a worthy husband, one that will value her mind over her beauty and ability to produce an heir.

        Eris Sivorn, Arjan's sister, is the youngest sibling. Only thirteen years old, she is a bit wild, and gets into trouble. She sneaks out of her studies often, and dreams of someday being the first lady knight of Serendipity. She is bright, but she lacks focus.

This thread is going to be the engagement party that will announce the engagement of Dylanna Swinden and Ryk Handelaar. Since Dylanna is a noble, and she and Ryk are the two most powerful merchants in Arca, the Queen of Serendipity will be invited, and Rhi has told me that the Queen will be attending. This means that nobles and very wealthy individuals from all over, not only Serendipity, but friendly countries as well, will be invited. The main players in this thread will be me, Spice, and Rhi. Blue is invited to join if he has the time, and I would never not include Tally either if she has a character that she knows fits in here. Other than the five of us, you'll be restricted to cameos. Any member of SotE that has a noble of Serendipity is invited to cameo this thread. Any SotE member that has a wealthy character in Serendipity is invited to cameo this thread. Any member that has a character in the Queen's army, or a guard in Arca is invited to cameo this thread. Soot Wolves are invited to cameo this thread (though you should check with your guild leader- me - for specifics first). Nobles of Serendipity friendly countries are invited to cameo this thread. There are however stipulations. You may only post once to this thread as any of the above mentioned cameo invited characters. If you're not me, Rhi, or Spice (or Blue or Tally if they are so inclined), it's one post per character. There will however be exceptions to this rule. If your character is directly interacted with by one of our characters you have been 'pulled' into the thread. You may then interact with said characters as long as they interact with you. If the interaction from, lets say Ryk, is that he shakes your hand and says hello but then walks away, you can respond to that handshake, but since he's walked away, your character has been 'pushed' out of the thread. Another stipulation is that if you want to bring Connlaoth nobles or wealthy characters here and they are involved in the civil war, you must check first with Spice. The civil war and this event are both SotE canon, so the timeline must lineup for your character to make an appearance, and of course they have to be of the not hating Serendipity preclusion. If you do not have a character that fits these guidlines, you have a little time to create one, but once I start the thread, the deadline will be cutoff.
