"Dashing hero. Gotta like the sound of that. Just don't keep the part where I took a chair to the back," Herrick said with a short chuckle.
As they stepped up the porch stairs to the first tavern of the night, Herrick opened the door for her, only to look inside and go tense.
It seemed the fight had gotten broken up by the city guard, of all people. It looked like a couple of patrolling guards had noticed the commotion and arrived to sort the rowdy folks out.
Bad news for Herrick, good news for Elysia, as the presence of guards might've turned off potential thieves from her things. Still, he played it cool, walking up to the innkeep and settling his tab from before, for which the man was grateful.
He turned to Elysia.
"I'll be right back, stick around here for a moment."
He went up to get his bag and rapier from his room.
