She listened to him. His sentences were all short, choppy and he wasn't really giving her anything to grab onto to start an actual conversation. He just seemed like he wanted her to shut up and stop asking questions. She sighed outwardly, rolling her eyes and walking to the couch. What was the point anymore? Why should she try? She looked at him, irritation showing in every part of her body. "This is hopeless! Why did you even drag me here with you? You could have let me stay out there and get attacked by that...Thing. At least save me the humiliation of losing the deal! You probably won't even hold your side of it if I won." She groaned at looked away from him. She was so pissed right now, she couldn't even sort her thoughts. She got up and walked towards the door. "Sorry to bother you, Mr. Whatever your name is."

Anonymous

Zephyr got up when she walked to the door. He said, "I don't say things for the hell of it. I won't go back on the deal on you." He walked over and said, "And you leaving doesn't go into either part of the deal, hm?" He turned to face away from her and sighed. "Plus, you decided to get all pissed off right when I was going to say a thing or two that would help you do your side of the deal." He crossed his arms. "I think it would cause you more humiliation to just walk out on an obvious opportunity."

Anonymous

The stopped walking, but kept her back to him. He was really starting to piss her off. Not because he was saying anything stupid or mean, but because he was being a cocky, smart ass. Her hands tightened into fists. "Why would I want to stay if you don't seem to be doing anything. You are making it nearly impossible to-...." She broke off mid-sentence when he mentioned giving her information. She turned her head to look back at him without moving her body. "You were actually going to...help me?" She almost laughed. "Would that offer still stand if i decided to stay? Because it seems like you are trying awfully hard to keep me here." She smirked. Maybe he wanted her here...

Just maybe.

Anonymous

Zephyr shrugged. "I guess it would still stand. And, how am I supposed to complete my side of the deal if you're walking off? That's why I'm asking for you to stay here." He looked over his shoulder at Cosette, a glint of amusement in his eye. "First valuble bit of information? I'm Zephyr. How about you?" He went back to the couch and sat back down, still leaving a space for her to sit down if she wanted to.

It really was a funny picture; the two of them, with obvious animosity or irritation, standing back to back and looking with only there heads turned to look at each other. Cosette relaxed a bit, finding it silly that she was so tense while just standing there. "heh. Well you wouldn't have to keep your side if I left. So now guess what, you are stuck with me." She turned completely around when he walked back to the couch. "Zephyr, huh? I am Cosette." She walked over to the couch and took a seat next to him. It felt...awkward, but she didn't really care. She was making progress with him. She smiled slightly at him, no attitude in this one, it was sincere...er as sincere as she could make it. "Anything else you are willing to share?"

Anonymous

Zephyr relaxed in the seat a little. He was glad that this deal was still on; he hated going back on something he said. He said, "Eh, well I have a little bit of advice for you if you're gonna try to get me to like you." He glanced at her, looking into her eyes, and said, "Get real. The acting isn't going to get you anywhere with me."

Anonymous

'Get Real'? He said it, and it took her a few seconds to comprehend. Confusion was clear on her face. She was real. What did he mean? She wasn't acting. The confusion was slowly replaced with anger. "You think I am ACTING?!" She stood up quickly, Her hands reclenching into fists. She stared at him, her eyes almost glowing with anger. She had never had anyone say anything like that to her. How dare he!?

Anonymous

Zephyr leaned away slightly when she got angry. "I didn't mean you were acting now. You were acting yesterday, and I wanted to advise you not to try it again." He gave her an annoyed sideways look. "You're not being very cooperative. I thought you wanted to hear this. No point in getting at worked up over nothing."

Anonymous

nothing? NOTHING?! He just told her she was acting and he said it was nothing?! She held back an comments she wanted to say to him, fearing upsetting him too much. She took a deep breath, the way she knew would calm her down; in through her nose, out through her mouth. She looked at him, the anger in her eyes greatly reduced. When she opened her mouth again, all hostility was gone. "Of course I want to know it. Thank you for telling me." She smiled, a real smile, like he told her to do. Why the hell was she listening to him? She didn't need him....

But she wanted him.

"So...anything you want to know about me?" She hoped the answer was no, but who knows. Maybe he was secretly curious. Maybe secretly he wanted her to be around as much as she wanted to be around. Just maybe.

Anonymous

Zephyr shrugged. "Well, there is one thing." He looked at her, slightly confused. "Why were you so determined, now and before, to follow me around and get to know me? I'm referring to before the deal, and why this deal had to be made." He tilted his head slightly. "Is it because you like a challenge, and find me interesting or something of the sort? That would be my guess."

Anonymous

She figured he would ask. In fact she didn't even know. She liked a challenge, but he had both rejected her and threatened her life. Why in the world would she want to keep following him? "I guess it's because you are different from those I normally go after. You had an aura about you that just drew me in. You looked exotic and I just...wanted to get to know you a bit better. I didn't know it would be such a challenge, but I am not one who gives up too easily." She smiled at him, letting out an airy, weak laugh. Everything she said was true. And she didn't even leave out anything, aside from the fact that she wouldn't mind spending a more...intimate time with him, but he didn't need to know that, not yet.

"Now a question for you. Why didn't you just leave me there back with that guy? Why'd you pull me along with you?" She tilted her head, staring at his visible eye with all the seriousness in the world. She didn't understand how he could go from hating her one second to not wanting her dead the next. She was happy for it of course, but he could have easily ridded himself of her with just his leg put in front of her while she was running. Simple as that.

Zephyr looked off for a moment, then looked back. He seemed thoughtful. "Well, I didn't just want to leave you back there to die. Why? I'm not as much of an ass as to leave you to die. Or anyone for that matter. That man doesn't even deserve one kill to bring to his boss. He's dirt." He grunted and got up to pace about the room.

Anonymous

She nodded, taking in his words. Yea he didn't seem like one who would just leave someone for dead just because he didn't like them, unless he was hired to do so. And he must really hate that man. It made her slightly nervous, him referring to her as 'something for the man to bring back to the boss'. She didn't mind being a trophy for people, but not like that. She directed her eyes away from him for a moment, before looking back at him. She just hoped she didn't piss him off too much.

"Well...th-thank you." Her voice squeaked a bit. She coughed and cleared her throat. She watched him as he paced around. "Is there something wrong?" She redirected her eyes again, staring at anything else besides him. She was growing very nervous because of his pacing. Was something wrong that he failed to mention?

Zehpyr glanced at Cosette. "Nothing's wrong..." He walked back over to the couch and sat down again. "Hey, so if you win the deal, you get what you want, hm? I can guess what that something is." He glanced at her. "Probabaly used to getting what you want, cause you're pretty, huh?" He got up and sighed. "You know, it's kind of late now, I'm going to bed. The couch folds out into a bed if you want to sleep there." He threw a few large blankets on the couch. "'night, Cosette." As he walked off, he said, (was that a hint of amusement in his voice?) "And stay out of my bed."

She bit her tongue in replying to his first comment. Of course she was used to it. No one ever turned down a pretty girl. In fact, the law had come to take her in once after a...long night of partying gone wrong, and she got out of being jailed by having an even wilder party with said officer. One of the best nights of her life. I don't think she had ever been so tired in all her life, but that was no matter to discuss with Zephyr at this point.

And she would hope he knew what she meant by now. She had never been super secretive about her sexual desires, but she was sneaky sometimes. If he hadn't understood what she wanted by now, she would have to bring him in to have his mind examined by a specialist or something. In fact, she was rather relieved that he knew. It meant he hadn't completely cancelled it out of his mind. It meant she might have a chance in the future to 'get what she wanted'. But then again, she generally did get what she wanted, so she wouldn't be all to surprised.

But he stood up, dismissing himself. She looked down. I guess tonight wouldn't be the night. Patience Cosette, patience. He'll come around eventually. They always do. She looked at the blankets he tossed her way; just something else to stare at. But then his final comment made her laugh. He really did understand what she wanted. Maybe she could just lie next to him for a few minutes, just for giggles. Or maybe just sneak into his room. Probably not a good idea. He was an assassin after all. They probably had ultra sensitive hearing or something crazy like that where she would only appear as a threat and probably killed because of it. No she would much rather stay alive, but oh how she wished he hadn't made his room off limits.

Maybe tomorrow would be different.

She pulled the cushions off the couch, pulling it into a bed. She laid down a few blankets before climbing into bed. She hadn't realized how tired she had been, but now when offered to sleep, she found out she was fairly exhausted. It didn't take long for sleep to overcome her and the dreaming to begin.

Zephyr awoke rather early. He came out of his room with a jacket on, no shirt beneath it. The jacket was open, revealing the scars on his shoulders and chest. There was a few. He quietly prepared breakfast for himself, glancing at Cosette before making some for her as well. He ate his in silence and set a tray of food on a table that was next to the couch/bed. He sipped a mug of coffee and sat on a chair next to the couch. He said, "Good job on staying out of my bed."

She awoke from him being awake. She was a fairly light sleeper, especially when not sleeping in her own bed. Call it habit, but she generally liked being out of the house before the guy even thought about waking up. So when she saw him, she had a brief moment of panic. But she relaxed quickly, remembering who he was and that they hadn't done anything the night before. The second thought made her sad in a way. Not like there wouldn't be other nights. She smiled slyly.

She sat up slowly, stretching and yawning as she did so. She didn't know what time it was, but it seemed pretty early to her. She focused her eyes in the room, looking around as she did so. Her eyes glanced at Zephyr, his back turned to her. She put the covers back and stood up from the couch. "Morning to you too." She rolled her eyes, walking into the kitchen. She glanced at what he was making, her stomach growling quietly. She wouldn't bother him and have him make her breakfast. She would just eat something later. She then looked at him.

Her eyes widened instantly, focusing on his chiseled abs and chest. She inhaled in surprise, taking a step back. "Morning!," she said, an entertained and pleased sound to her voice. She smiled at him, nodding slightly as she continued staring at his chest. She broke her stare, still smiling at him but now looking at his face. "You sleep well?" She laughed slightly, one breath. He would be better than she had initially thought.

Anonymous

Zehpyr nodded. "Morning to you too." He shrugged. "I slept fine. And you?" He saw the staring. A hint of a smirk crossed his lips. "Better than you thought, hm?" He stood and stetched. Then, he sat down on the bed. He was simply too lazy to change it back to a couch. He yawned, sipping his coffee. He traced a scar of his with a rather thoughtful expression, remembering where he got it. Then, he looked at Cosette, smirking a little again. He said with some sarcasm, "Come over here and you can continue staring at me."

Anonymous

She looked down, almost blushing. She wasn't the easily embarrassed type, but...she couldn't even explain it. He just seemed so willing to pick on her, something she wasn't quite used to. Normally people, especially men, are willing to do anything to please the pretty girl. But he didn't care if she was attracted to him or not. He seemed more than willing to be 'himself' around her, whatever that meant. It kind of pissed her off, but she loved it. It made him even more different from the other men, more...unique. And she would find her way to his heart, no matter what.

She looked back at him, no longer caring that she was staring too much. "It's much better than I thought. And I slept fine, thank you." She grinned, watching him stretch, all the muscles in his torso flexing. She purred out of delight, a reaction completely involuntary to her. She didn't know why it happened, but it was generally the detector to her next target. She already knew he was her next...victim, but that just made her believe it more.

Yes. This would be interesting.

She just had to stick with it. She had to not give up.

He welcomed her over, and she wasn't going to deny the opportunity. She grinned wider, her face lighting up in delight. Was he finally starting to enjoy her company? Or was he just a tease? Or was she just kidding herself in thinking he was actually any sort of interested? No. She shook that last thought from her head. He had to be a little interested, otherwise he wouldn't have let her stay in his house for the night. Sure it wasn't in his bed (where she would have liked it to be) but at least it was something.

She lay next to him, propping her head in her hand and continued to stare. He really was beautiful, in the way only a muscular man can be. Her eyes trailed from his good eye, downward to his chest, to his abs, and back up. She took note of each scar, tracing them with her eyes. When her eyes met his again, she held the gaze, smiling gently. "You are a very handsome man." She said it as sweetly and delicately as she could, hoping the statement wouldn't shock him too much. She figured he already knew, but it was always a nice thing to hear. "I have another quick question. When we first met, why were you so...closed minded? Why did you want nothing to do with me? I mean, I'm sure you still are, but not nearly as much as you had been. I am only asking because...because you are the only man who has ever...EVER done that. I would like to hear what you first thought when seeing me."

Anonymous

Zephyr watched her as she looked at him. He stared at her face, gaze not wavering. He started to look rather like a statue. He followed her gaze back to his face. He nodded at the statement, as a thank-you. It did surprise him a bit, but it didn't show on his face.  He glanced away for a moment when the questions were asked. He was not exactly sure if he wanted to answer; or if he should answer. He decided to answer, for the hell of it. "Why was I so closed minded? Well, you must remember I used to kill people for a living. Love.....was not an option. Old habits die hard." He was telling the truth. It wasn't the entire, whole truth, but what does that matter to an ex-assassin? "As for what I first thought when seeing you...I no longer remember." He glanced back at her.
