He waited against the wind and listened to its course. A long ear twitched and the gusts ruffled his cerulean hair, but the perpetual grimace on his face softened with a smile and he knew then that it was time. The clouds were parted and the winds were right. "Garaduin, take flight!" Iharu commanded in the guttural words of Draconic.
The sleek dragon nodded it's thorn-spiked head and shot up into the air from the ridge he'd only momentarily been perched upon. Iharu held onto his dragonmount's reins while his over pulled a javelin out from the leather sheaths on the side. He held the projectile high by his head, aimed and ready to be launched. As if by some psychic connection, Garaduin knew to fly low and kept his wingspan steady as the wind carried him down. But they were picking up speed and Iharu could hear the sounds of beast activity below. But he was Dravikai and he was trained to kill.
Through the canopy, he saw the animal he sought, a great bear, and knew the animal would make a perfect meal for the both of them. The sheer size of the animal was enough to intimidate even the heartiest of hunters. Approximately three times the size of an average grizzly, and bearing claws to match. He was surprised the animal was running, but running from what he couldn't tell. All he focused on was his aim and the near unnatural steadiness of his arm despite the wind, despite the velocity at which they flew. Garaduin was a wise dragon and kept his rider steady. And with a swish that flurried through the canopy top, Iharu launched the javelin down toward the great bear. He heard a howl of pain emerge from below as he'd hit his target.
He nudged with his hands and the dragon took him down, low enough so that he could simply fall through the trees. Iharu landed in a crouch and he watched the dragon fly off to find a safe place to land, which would be somewhere in a clearing nearby. Iharu landed about a hundred yards away from his prey, and ran the rest of the distance, mindful of his footing and leaving no tracks of his passing. He held his spear in hand, in case the javelin did not kill the bear directly and he was almost sure that it didn't for the animal was far too hardy, and the hide was prized for it's thickness. He approached with caution as he waited behind a tree. Then, when he felt the moment was right, he appeared out from behind the tree.
Iharu's eyes widened and his jaw set in confused fury as he saw someone else already there by his prey. "Who are you?" he boomed, his voice sharp, deep and with the edge of a rasp to it. "What are you doing here? This is my prize here. Go find your own!"
