Hmm, there was something under the slightly rancid smell...something familiar. At first he thought it had been the taint of demon upon the human, but as that had such a bad odor, he realized it had to be something far more close to the real thing. His blue pupils twitched - yes, twitched, like a flexing to refocus - and suddenly he could truly see it. There were no demons physically present, at least not in the conventional way of 'being' somewhere. But their aura, their scent, was coming from the satchel the man was clutching. He did not know it to be a book, but he could sense the demonic presences held within it, and it's very nature and purpose puzzled him greatly.
How curious...he would need to ask the man about it, for what better way to learn than to ask questions?
However, it would be quite rude not to respond first to the man's own inquiry. He nodded his affirmation to the statement, before offering up more information on his own reasons for being topside like this.
"The humans, yes, and all the others, other types of creatures. The ones who live in this realm, on this plane...they are fascinating, to watch, to learn. You all, you are very much...the fragile, soft, rapid, pulsing, living, feeling, fluttering...so many things to say, to describe, so many more watch, learn, see."
He finally stopped speaking, realizing his enthusiasm, his wonder at this place, was getting ahead of him.
He bowed slightly at the waist again, this time in apology rather than greeting.
"I have apologies. I did not mean to overmuch speak."
