Leif speculated certain things, but certainly never believed everything he heard. Now that reality was catching up to him, he began to wonder about his own ignorance.

The Never King- a king erased from history because of his dabblings in dark magic (among other things...) suddenly because a present day problem when an unlikely group of adventurers 'awakens' him from the grave. I ran the Connlaothian civil war. For more info, check out it's page here. The war has now turned into a 'Cold War' with it's plotting page found here. It's no longer a huge site wide event but the scars are there.

"Oh, don't be." she smiled widely at his words "I never really cared about jewels." He was probably speaking about her father and her family but since she didn't like to talk about it, jewels were just used instead. She kept her happy and smiling mood as they reached their horse.

Jarred slightly from her response, he used this moment to help her into the saddle.
"Very well.." He replied softly, before placing his boot into the stirrup and hooking his leg up and over as he settled in to sit right behind her.
"Shall we head back to the manor?"

"Yes, we should." she told him "I need to see how my packing is progressing, since I have but a couple of hours more before I leave."
And once again, she had split feelings and opinions on this subject. She wished she could stay, though.. Just a little bit more but as the wedding drew closer she knew she needed to help finish some preparation on the other side.

"Very well." And he prodded the horse forward, they were at the house rather quick. He didn't want to hold her up, and the ride passed without so muhc as a word exchanged between the two. But much had been wished to be said, that muhc was certain. But Leif steeled his tongue, and when they approached his home, the iron gates in front were opened for them, and they rode back to the stables.

He helped Valentina from the hose once he was dismounted, and tethered his horse before taking her arm.
"So do you think my mother will survive without you here? She seems to have taken a shining to you. She never got a chance to prepare a wedding for her daughter. I think she's viewing you as her next best thing." And then he quickly added, "And that was not meant in offense."

"Your mother will have to manage." she smiled "But I don't think you should worry about her and me. She already has dress rehearsals planned. Well, five of them actually." Valentina frowned "So, me and her will be seeing each other a lot." She actually took some pride in the fact that at least one of his parents did take a liking to her.


"Besides, I am actually quite grateful for your mother... I wouldn't have the patience to deal with all those details, while she seems to be a natural at it." she chuckled shortly.

"This is one of the few things my father let's her manage. Now that her own daughter is gone, she's more or less had nothing to do than to focus on our wedding. Though she is trying, she's at least more amicable company than my father."

"You're welcome." And he paused before the bottom of the large, sweeping stair case to study her a moment. "I suppose you don't need an escort back to your room. I'll be here for your departure.." he siad, looking sheepishly away, his hands now clasped behind his back. "As is customary."

Valentina turned away and headed towards her quarters. If she had the time she would probably think about all that happened, but since she was too busy with the packing she had to concentrate on other things for the time being. But, although she was busy, she glanced over to her new ring far too much. The servants already noticed and started to gossip.

As the last hour came to a close, her family carriage was brought around front. At the end of the stair, Leif waited patiently, he on one side, his parents on the other, and as he waited, he and his father seemed to be having quite the intense staring contest...
As if they were to continue on this path, they might bore holes into one another.
