Looks:
Zara looks like the pretty, naive one. She has long, gorgeous, hair that falls to her lower waist. Its texture resembles that of ripples in the water. Her big eyes are a cat-like yellow color, and she dresses to match them. She is mostly wears simple, floor length dresses that are either yellow, brown, or occasionally green. While they are impossible to see, she is almost always wearing simple sandals. Her skin is a light tan color and flawless—not even a single freckle resides on it. Zara also happens to have large cat ears and a nice, long tail. Her hair, ears, and tail are all primarily purple with light pink tips. Think ombre.
Personality:
Zara is an interesting person to be around. On the outside, she seems perfectly content and happy with her life. On the inside, she's constantly struggling. First off, Zara has a very short attention span. She'll constantly be distracted and has trouble listening to people. She also has trouble staying still. Zara is almost always fidgeting. But her last problem, and the one that bugs her the most, is that she has a tendency to zone out. It seems as if all that energy she always has is suddenly drained from her, and she'll just stare out into the distance for a minute or to. Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. But Zara hates all of these things, as well as some of her other traits. So she hides them—and she hides them well. She's learned to pick up on vocal inflection and the best ways to respond to people when she doesn't know what they said. She fidgets in places where her companions can't see it, most commonly behind her back or, if no other choices exist, she's just move her toes around. And her recoveries from zoning out are incredible. Because of her ability to adapt, people typically can't see the struggles Zara is having every second. And this is how she likes it. Even still, her personality gets unstable from time to time, and she has trouble dealing with it.
Magic/Abilities:
Zara's emotional troubles don't just stop there. While she may not have any notable magic or even fighting abilities normally, everything changes once she loses blood. She zones out like normal, except this time somebody (or something) else takes over. Zara's eyes turn into a deep red and her tail stiffens. Her stature becomes tense and her teeth grow pointier, like actual cat teeth. Her nails also sharpen. She can still talk, but her pitch is higher and her words aren't nearly as nice. This alter ego is bloodthirsty and lets nothing stand in her way of harming others—even those that Zara herself would consider friends. And her strength is strong enough that she can harm others. Over time, she will turn back into her normal self... and sleep. But in all the times that this transformation has happened to her, she has not once been able to force herself out of it. She also doesn't remember a thing that happens while she's like this—but she has been told by a couple different people.
It is for this reason that Zara never gets into a battle. No matter what the situation is, she believes that she will only make it worse. When traveling, she will either travel alone or with people she trusts will knock her out if anything goes wrong.
Zara also has some typical cat abilities. No, she can not talk to cats. But she can see in the dark and has better hearing than most others. Her stamina is next to none, but once she stops running, she is fond of napping.
History:
Zara's history is a tough one. She was abandoned in the streets when she was born. Luckily, she was picked up and adopted by a kind, young couple who had always wanted kids but never been able to have them. At this point in her life, she didn't have any of her cat-like features yet. Even her eyes were brown. But when nine years passed, and she was still at the age of a two year old, she started to develop. The couple had kept her for all of those nine years even though they never knew why she wasn't really growing. Once she started growing a tail and ears, however, they felt as if they had picked up a child blessed by a cat god. This belief only heightened when the wife soon got pregnant.
But when she was six (human age) and the new kid was a little over seventeen, things went wrong. The boy, Davin, knocked a glass cup onto the ground. And when Zara walked over it, she cut her foot. That was the first time her magic took place. She scratched Davin multiple times before being pulled away by her parents who locked her in a room for ten minutes before she turned back to normal. While the parents forgave her and understood that it must not have been her fault, Davin didn't. Their parents raised her until she was twelve in human years, and they were in their late seventies. But they both died within a year. They handed her down to Davin, who was now in his forties. But, still convinced that she was the devil's spawn, he refused to raise her. After giving her all of her belongings (out of respect for his parents), he sent her off into the woods.
Zara lived the thirty two years (or seven of her years) by herself, wandering from town to town. To this day, she still doesn't know what she's looking for. But she keeps wandering anyway, hoping that one day she will understand the meaning of her life and where she came from.
