IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description
Galvan is rather young (for a dragon, at least), meaning that he's not all that big. He's large enough for most people to ride comfortably, but he's not gigantic by any means. Rather than scales, Galvan's skin is covered in white feathers with his wings resembling those of a bird's. His underbelly is leathery and light grey, and his whole body is remarkably clean despite its light colouration. He has dark, curvy horns that spiral around and needle-like claws. The only hint of colour on his body are his eyes, which are a light blue.

Personality
In general, Galvan is exceedingly hard to read. He's very good at keeping his emotions in check (aside from anger, on occasion), refusing to let them impact his decisions. When he does end up expressing an emotion, chances are that he's just faking it. He also tends to lie a lot, becoming quite experienced over the years. Rules and moral codes mean little to him, and he's unlikely to feel any kind of remorse after breaking them... in other words, he's a sociopath.

Galvan seems to have a particular talent for getting under people's skin. From a few minutes of interacting with someone, he'll usually be able to find out what kind of things upset them. He's more than willing to use that knowledge, and he gets a sense of enjoyment from messing with people. Of course, most people would find this behaviour incredibly irritating, but Galvan doesn't mind much. He'd even do the same kind of things to people that he considers to be his allies, though it's more like playful teasing at that point.

Though plenty of what he says is questionable at best, Galvan's dedication to his research is clear. He would go to incredible lengths in order to learn something new, including manipulating others and partaking in some rather... shady practices. Whenever someone criticizes the extreme measures he's capable of taking, he just interprets that as someone being too cowardly to achieve their goals. Sometimes, you have to do something "bad" in order to achieve something great.

Magic/Abilities
Galvan's magic abilities are limited to a few areas, but they can be very potent in the right situations. He can enchant his words a small amount of magic, influencing the thoughts of whoever hears them. This helps to make what he says more believable, as long as he doesn't say anything too absurd. Galvan finds that this magic works better of the target is irritated, or otherwise unable to think clearly. Of course, this kind of manipulation isn't going to work on everybody.

His most unique magical ability, and the one most relevant to his research, is his ability to enchant objects. These enchantments seem to work better on certain materials- for example, metal works very well, while something like wood is harder to work with. This enchantment causes the object to act as a focus, amplifying or altering the effects of magic directed through it. Whenever the object is in direct contact with someone's body, Galvan can force that person's magic towards the focus against their will (though this requires a large amount of concentration to do).

Galvan has a couple other magical abilities, too. His eyes can produce a hypnotic gaze against anyone who stares into them, which is very effective in combination with his manipulative tactics. He also has mild telekinetic abilities, being to pick up and move small objects without touching them. More impressive, however, are the physical capabilities of the dragon's body. He has the ability to breathe fire, of course, and his claws can secrete a fluid that renders people unconscious when it enters the bloodstream. For bigger creatures, a higher amount of the fluid would have to be used in order to be effective. Smaller amounts, however, produce feelings of dizziness, nausea and weakness.

Relationships
None right now. Relationships with Galvan tend to end rather quickly.

History
Like with most dragons, the first few years of Galvan's life were a constant struggle for survival. Along with other hatchlings, he was quickly expected to learn how to fend for himself and adapt to the dragon society, or be left behind to die. Galvan managed to survive these difficult times without too many issues, but at one point he realized that with a few well-placed words (and some magic that he wasn't yet aware of), he could convince others to do work for him. However, since Galvan was inexperienced with using said magic, it became obvious to most people what he was up to and he was given a stern warning. In defiance, he continued to practice this technique and slowly began to understand how the magic functioned. Each time, he was confronted about his actions, but he would always find some way to avoid being punished. Over the years, he lost respect for the rules of society, eventually getting to the point where he completely disregarded them.

After he realized that his ability to influence people was somewhat rooted in magic, Galvan started pushing himself to see what else he was capable of. It was during this period that he developed his telekinetic abilities, being able to use them with great precision. They weren't exactly powerful in the grant scheme of things, however, so Galvan directed his attention elsewhere. He started to research the magical talents of other people, wandering and making notes until he eventually came across the Fell. The legends of the magic capable of levelling an entire nation fascinated him, and made him wonder how one could create such a destructive force. He wasn't really planning on using it, though- he was more driven by sheer curiosity alone.

More recently, Galvan finally realized the last of his magic abilities. He was rifling through the possessions of a human he'd recently killed in order to feed himself when he came into contact with a metal trinket. A small surge of power started coursing through his body, and he realized that he could lift heavier objects than usual with his telekinesis as long as he stayed in contact with the metal. After a few experiments, Galvan determined that he could replicate this effect with many different objects, and that they would still enhance his magic from a distance as long as he made contact with them at some point.

One night, a thief snuck into the cave that Galvan used as his home while he was away. The thief picked up one of the dragon's newly created artifacts, examining it thoroughly before attempting to leave. Unfortunately, he lingered a little too long and soon found himself face to face with Galvan. Another surge of power washed over the dragon, and he quickly discovered another property of his enchantments. The thief, who happened to be a pyromancer, suddenly felt his magic backfire and was promptly consumed by his own flames. Greatly intrigued by this, Galvan started to form a new question in his mind: what else could he could he achieve with this kind of manipulation?
