Dungeons and Dragons
« on: August 22, 2017, 12:34:01 PM »
I have never played D&D before and have been looking through that case I have for the game (everything included in it) and was like "This would be a great game to play with other people on SoTE"

So! I was wondering if people would like to come together on discord/skype and use that D20 site to play the game I atleast want 5-7 people but four would be okay also for a casual play, like Cinnamontoastken's on youtube style of play. Just for fun you know :)

If anyone is interested hit me up :)

I'll be honest in that I prefer Shadowrun, but I'll entertain the idea if it's good for laughs and fun times.  I'd rather skype on something like this.  I did Demon: The Fallen over skype and that seemed to work out.  You'd have to give an idea of what kind of campaign we're looking at.  Are you the GM/DM or is that not decided?

Yup.  Though, to be fair, it gets more complicated than DnD, sometimes.  In DnD, you have  - dependent on the type of person you play - your character stats, special traits, weapons, armor, magic, items, skills, and that's about it.

In Shadowrun, you could have...character stats, guns and ammo (and/or melee weapons), armor, traits, magic, cyberware, decking (hacking) equipment, technomancy, vehicle (with with its own stats, guns, special tires, anti-theft system, and other devices), and the upkeep on where you live.

Also, in Shadowrun, you would have to be about as specific in edition as for DnD.  People have a preference in rule editions for DnD, but some of the plot and setting has changed over three editions.  In the first three editions, everything is old-style cyberpunk with wires attached to everything and the center stage is Seattle.  In Fourth Edition, everything went wireless, since between the making of 3rd and 4th, our world went wireless.  In Fifth Edition, the setting changed to Chicago, because it's centered around Project Reclaim, the re-opening of Chicago after most of the bug spirits calmed down.

You have the stuff for DnD, which I wouldn't mind getting into for funsies.  If you want to try Shadowrun, that's a whole new experience and alot of reading.  I know alot about it, but I don't want to run a campaign.  I want to play.  Still umm...let's see about other people being interested.
