The book explained everything clearly.

All she had to do was kidnap someone, draw some weird shapes on the floor, light a few sticks of incense, kill something in a horribly painful way, mutter some mumble jumble, and voila, a demon appears.

Rasui hoped that the demon would appear dramatically, hopefully with clashes of thunder multicolored smoke, and all that other crap. The book was non-refundable, and she’d hate to think that she wasn’t getting good value for her money.

She had already kidnapped someone for the demon to possess. She’d had enough sense to kidnap someone who wouldn’t be noticed, since the demon would almost certainly cause trouble. That was what Rasui was summoning the demon for, after all. She had almost decided to kidnap someone important, but what little common sense she had overruled her.

The girl lying in the center of the weird spiky shape(the book had called it a pentacle) was unconscious, because Rasui did not want to deal with a blubbering youngster. The unfortunate girl looked slightly elven, probably one of the halfbreeds or quarterbreeds always wandering around the place. Rasui had always detested elves, who she thought always acted like they thought they were the lords of creation.

Rasui intended to summoning one of the sword demons, who looked far more interesting than the rest of the denizens of hell. The one she’d chosen was Beph…she looked down at the book… Bephbaelotepethanokadurm, widely acknowledged as the most powerful of the sword demons.

All the preparations had been made. She’d already drawn both of the pentacles, hit the possessee on the head with the club, admittedly with considerably more enthusiasm than the task warranted, killed a crow in a horrible but extremely educational way(she'd had no idea that crow entrails were so long...), and put on her make up. She needed all her energy for the summoning, but that was no reason to look horrible.

She had her pride, after all.

She sneezed. The incense stank horribly. Hopefully, sneezing would not affect the ritual in any way, although a demon running amok would be kind of interesting.

She then began to chant. The words were supposed to be some dead language or other, but Rasui personally thought that they were just nonsense. It didn’t matter, as long as they worked.

She fumbled over the pronunciation a bit; Bephbaelotepethanokadurm was actually the easiest word to pronounce in the chant. Still, she thought optimistically, the fact that she hadn’t burst into flames yet was certainly a good sign.

She waited, wondering where the crows were. They had been here a while ago. Perhaps they knew that she was messing with the occult. More likely, though, they'd noticed the crow lying on the floor, with its entrails arranged in an aesthetically pleasing pattern. She would have to summon demons more often, since it obviously got rid of her unwelcome guests. She would also have to play around with entrails a bit more too; she thought that the pattern she'd made was quite artistic too. Perhaps there would be a career as an artist for her.

She waited patiently for the demon to appear.
