I've been thinking lately on playing a custom race but I am unsure if it is balanced enough and last thing I want is to be using it while it's extremely unbalanced. <.<;; I didn't know where to post it exactly so excuse me if I posted it in the wrong forum. Anyway any kind of feedback/suggestions/ideas will be appreciated and taken into consideration. ^_^

QuoteRace name
-------------
Kunaris [Khun-Ah-His]

Small Background
-------------
Since magic was discovered, Magus or whichever term you use to name the people that mastered the fine art of it, sometimes lose their sanity in exchange of more secrets. Spells gets more powerful more complex and a larger amount of energy is required in order to use them. With such big flows of energy compacted in one place, it is only normal to have some anomalies in the process. So what happens when one spell fails? Does that energy simply disappear? Well, if it does, some of it shift shape into other kind of spells. And sometimes, these remains go wild and creates life. And this is how Kunaris are born. In simpler term, they are literally living magic trapped inside some kind of body.

We do not know when this phenomena first occurred, but Magus all agrees that they are a fairly recent specie. In fact, sightings of these magic-born are getting more and more common. Some Magus even tried to create one but with no success. It seems that the only way of creating them is by pure luck or bad luck depending of your perception. It should be noted that the Kunaris might not appeared immediately after a failure of one spell; They seem to occur randomly but they will always be born in the area where the spell failed.

Characteristics
-------------
Physiology
---------
Kunaris, being born of wild magic, does not have any specific form. Some of them are bulky humanoids while others could be small fairy-like spiders. It seems that they gain physical characteristics of what the magic comes in contact with before going wild. Although, there are some similitudes between every one of them. The presence of bones and magic inside their body are one of them. Some could even give them the title of: Walking blocks of Magic, which would suit them rather well.

Their main physical feature would be that all Kunaris have bright lines on their skin, scales, shell or whatever covers their body. These lines are placed to match the bone structure but not on the head and they are placed to be clearly seen, marking the body like an exo-skeleton. It is also noted that the lines on one body can be of any colors but only one color is seen on each Kunaris. These lines seems to glow faintly when the Kunaris is in contact with magic either when he's the one casting or receiving.

Another common trait among these magic-born is the lack of gender and they are therefore unable of reproduction. Their body doesn't seem to age neither, as they simpler explode in a flash of light at their death. Rather than eating food in order to survive, Kunaris will absorb small amount of Magic present either in the ambient air or any other source of Magic. That said, some Kunaris do feed themselves by killing other magic beings including those of their own race.

Psychology
---------
First of all, they are all capable of speaking the language know as Common and all have a personalty of their own. While many refers themselves as either an He or She as of self preferences, some Kunaris simply prefers to use their name. Speaking of names, most Kunaris simply choose how they want to be called. The complexion of their names ranges from "Slimy" to "Tristan-Alexander Worthington the Great".

Due to their lack of gender, Kunaris are not sexually attracted to neither gender. However, some of them do develop feelings of love toward any other races. The other thing that attracts them is Magic since it is their main source of power and life. While some are more attracted to it than others, all of them do seem to have an certain natural attraction to anything magic.

As said above, the Kunaris can temporary boost their natural ability by absorbing Magic. This boost would last few seconds to few minutes depending of the quantity taken as the Magic simply vanished in the air around them.  Although, absorbing enormous amount of Magic isn't always a good idea. Each one has his own limit and if they break the limit, they might explode under the sheer amount of energy gathered.

Homeland
-------------
None in particular.

Special abilities and distinguishing features
-------------
Kunaris have a natural talent for the art of Magic. However, they might be able to cast spells but not without a risk. Being a being born from it, they must tap in their own life source in order to use it. In other words, if they are not careful enough, they might die from casting a spell. Their source of power seems to recover natural with time. While they do have this natural ability to use magic, it is noted that not all of them actually know how to.

Life cycle
-------------
Kunaris have a very short lifespan compared to most species. Their very unstable magic running in them is the prime cause of it. In fact, most of them return as pure energy after 20 or 30 years. But, those skilled in the art of magic seems to be able to live way longer by renewing their magical source inside of them. But even so, the oldest Kunaris died at around 90 years old. Due to their short life span, Kunaris reaches adulthood at birth if not few days after and only sleeps around 4 hours a day.

Cultural description
-------------
Kunaris are often wanderers due to their wild birth, often being born in untamed places. Being new to this world, most of them live as wanderers, searching for a goal in their life. They are in general very open minded to both the art of Magic and Technology. The opinions of the other races about them are quite mixed; some would gladly accept them by their side while other only sees them as slaves. Some would even go to say that they were created for that purpose. Also because of their magic nature, some Magus would buy them off slavery to use as a source of energy. Large groups of Kunaris has not been seen yet.

Religion
-------------
None in particular.

So in sum, it's some kind of Magic being created by error when some spells fails. By the way, sorry for any grammar/syntax mistakes.

Any comments?
