BORDERS: Darken Vei, Jadenshine, Featherfall, Moonspear, Connlaoth
LAND: light forest, plains, mountains, Crescent Lake
[/center:3l6g1o66]

[center:3l6g1o66]A prideful province charged with protecting the only reliable pass connecting Connlaoth and Serendipity. Of all provinces, they have the largest and most elite militia, and a relatively small mage population compared to the rest of the kingdom. The High Lord's seat of governance is always in the fort town that guards the pass.[/center:3l6g1o66]

    RULING HOUSE FEIDYN

    HOUSE: Feidyn
    High Lord of Northwatch.

needed - House members and personal guards![/center:35fie8cj]

Northwatch has a large military power, mostly made up of physical forces rather than magical.

    Weapon and armor Forging.
One of the reasons why House Feidyn, the main House of Northwatch, is so powerful in Northwatch and have been the main House for multiple generations is because their talented forgers and smiths have discovered a way to insulate iron items/weapons and prevent the iron from hindering the people of Serendipity as it usually does. The process is somewhat of a paradox, being both simple and complex.

The iron item/weapon is plated with silver, the higher the quality of silver the better the insulation. During the process of covering the item/weapon with the silver a special enchantment is performed on the silver. The exact enchantment is a secret only know to some of the House Feidyn forgers and smiths, which is how they have retained their position and power for so long. Back-engineering the enchantment is nigh impossible, since the enchantment is more subtle in nature then many other magics and for it to work it must be exact. Almost any sort of variation will make the enchantment null and void.

Once the enchantment is finished and the process is complete, the effects of iron of Serendipity people will be completely eradicated, though if the quality of the silver is poor it sometimes will only greatly lessen the effects. Also if there is a Serendipity individual who is VERY sensitive to iron then they may still feel some minor effects from the iron, even if the quality of the silver is high.

The danger of iron is not forever erased even when treated by a Feidyn forger/smith. If the silver is significantly chipped or broken the effects of the iron will again begin to appear in Serendipity people. The greater the damage to the silver the more the effects will be felt. For this reason multiple layers of the silver will be put on the weapon/item, each one being separately enchanted. Anti-enchantment magics usually will not have effects on Feidyn enchanted items/weapons, since the enchantment not only leaves behind magic but also changes the silver's structure. The change doesn't affect color or physical strength, it merely somewhat alters the magical aspects of silver. - Written by Amiolas.

House Feidyn has a good long standing relationship with House Hildebrand which resides in the province.

more in detail and with fancy things is coming, but it was time to get this out!

    Amiolas and Illyrianna's House Hildebrand.

Were the Noble House of Hildebrand not in Northwatch and instead in some other province of Serendipity it may be viewed as odd. Mainly this is due to it's focus on military. They do value beauty in their clothing, architecture, and so on, but they also greatly value functionality, mainly in the form of defense or offense capabilities. It isn't that their clothing, structures and such are widely different then the Serendipity norm, it is merely that they add in the importance of functionality in a defensive/offensive manner.

Hildebrand as stated before is focused quite a bit on military for which they have become well known. To be a soldier that belongs or once belonged to Hildebrand is a badge of honor worn proudly. The majority of the forces that the Hildebrand House does control are basic foot-soldiers, their armor being made of multiple layers of toughened hide/leather with rings of metal interwoven into the hide/leather. The metal rings in the armor vary somewhat in what they are made of, the major controlling variables being the supply of metals at the time and the wealth that the individual (or Lord/Lady supplying individual). There are some special units in the Hildebrand forces that are worth mentioning.

One is the Hildebrand Heavy Soldiers. What makes them unique is that they wear strong metal armor all over their body, the base of it being iron. However the iron is in fact what is sometimes called 'Feidyn Iron', meaning that it is iron that has been enchanted by the craftsmen/women of the Noble House of Feidyn. Many of the Hildebrand Heavy Soldiers also wield heavy weapons such as halberds, axes, and such, making Hildebrand Heavy Soldiers good at taking down cavalry, basic foot-soldiers, and other heavily armored soldiers. Archers are the ones that pose the most danger to Hildebrand Heavy Soldiers due to lack of great mobility.

The other notable Hildebrand military unit is what is sometimes referred to as a Hound Handler. Hildebrand breeds dogs that are strong and tough, used as war hounds, intelligent enough to understand basic and simple commands. The creatures are not always violent though, many breeders of Hildebrand Hounds have them around their residences and have no problem with leaving their children unattended with them. In fact a Hildebrand Hound is considered by some to be a adequate enough escort for young children. Breeding the Hildebrands Hounds is a pass time done by many Hildebrand members and even a few select other not belonging to the House of Hildebrand. Non-Hildebrand bred ones are almost never accepted into the military though, and the majority of non-Hildebrand bred Hildebrand Hounds are bred by members of House Feidyn. It is unbelievably rare for a non-Serendipity person to own a Hildebrand Hound, let alone breed them. (A picture of a Hildebrand Hound will be provided at a later date)

The main branch of religion the Hildebrand House worships is one that worships a Light Goddess. They believe Light to be a important aspect of nature, a source of life and the soul of creatures and people. There are various aspects of the Light Goddess they worship, some of them being Love, Truth, and Protection. To newcomers of the religion the Protection aspect may be confusing. How the Hildebrand members interpret it is that they seek peace, though at times to preserve peace violence is necessary, which is why they have such a focus on military. They also believe that military members that have not abused their position or seek actively for conflict will live with the Light Goddess after they die, especially if they die while serving Hildebrand, Feidyn(the main House of Northwatch) and the whole of Serendipity in the way of the military.

Another aspect of Hildebrand they are known for is their sense of honor. To lie about something major is a terrible thing, they look down upon Hildebrand members who constantly lies. Minor lies aren't so bad once in a while, but to do so constantly is as bad as a major lie. If a Hildebrand member swears upon something, saying something to the effect of "On my Honor I swear...", is a powerful vow, that even non-Hildebrand people know of.

Succession for the Head of Hildebrand is not exclusively hereditary. When the Head dies, is found to be corrupt, or otherwise willingly gives up their position, the major members choose the next Head from a list of candidates. Usually close family members, such as sisters, brothers, children, and so on are easily on the list of candidates, though they are not always so easily chosen as the actual Head. While it is not absolutely required, it is extremely desired for a Hildebrand House Head candidate to have good combat skills, since the Head of Hildebrand is the head of the Hildebrand's armed forces. Interestingly, the majority of the Hildebrand leaders have been female. Hildebrand views both genders as equal just like the rest of Serendipity so it isn't that they are prejudice against males, females just seem to tend to be better suited for the leader position.
