Title: The art of the Fox!
Post by: Klezmer Gryphon on June 11, 2013, 07:40:41 PM
Well.... Lets see........ Oh, yes..... *shuffles through art portfolio*

Yes, there's this one (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/photo_zps9cc274d7.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1#sthash.YXYfTNIk.dpuf), and this one (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/photo_zps386f0721.jpg.html), oh, and this one, too (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/Furries/photo-3.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3#sthash.sOyMdsqr.dpuf)

And, hopefully, I will have more up soon. As you can see, I draw a lot of furries!

And yet another picture.... Although, I should really think about getting a scanner, 'cause the camera on my iPad and my phone are just not cutting it....

Critiques and comments are welcome, guys!

^ That is really more a picture of my new pocket watch, but there is a sketch of Aldéric in there, too.

Nice pocket watch XD I love pocket watches :T
I bought myself one a few years back with a steam train on it :T *loves steam trains*

But nice drawing :D
Ugh, pencils- I have refused to use pencils since the end of my college career XD they're so messy, and I do digital artwork so I have more room to make mistakes (and hide those mistakes! lol)

But I like the design! Are you planning on coloring it or just keeping it as a sketch?

I'll probably leave it as a sketch for now. This was more or less to get a general feel for what the character might look like, but I figured it was worth showing.

And I love pencils! So much cheaper than a drawing tablet... XD

If i don't use my tablet, I draw in ink XD
I just dont like pencils anymore lol
they get lead all of my hands and are so messy x.x
then again, I always get ink all over me anyways so...
XD

Here's something I drew up in art class while we were watching a movie on Winslow Homer. Guess I should really be paying attention to the movie, but, oh well lol. You can tell which of the two sketches I put more effort into XD

While I was digging around for some more pictures, I found a bunch of ancient relics.... I can't seem to understand them lol (These are from when I first began to draw, which was like oh... 3-4 years ago... Bring these up in a conversation, and I shall reject your reality and substitute my own! XD)

These are just the ones I dug out my old sketch pads.... I'm not even going to delve into my old folders full of old pictures...

Haha! I think I have found a new medium to use: Markers!

Here's my pic of François without any color

(http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t499/Not_your_Average_John/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20140403_002_zpsd95c8362.jpg) (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20140403_002_zpsd95c8362.jpg.html)

Here's that same picture with colored pencils (sorry for the crappy lighting)
(http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t499/Not_your_Average_John/Mobile%20Uploads/photo_zps37b96ff9.jpg) (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/Mobile%20Uploads/photo_zps37b96ff9.jpg.html)

And finally colored with markers

(http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t499/Not_your_Average_John/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20140404_002_zps61dff04c.jpg) (http://s1062.photobucket.com/user/Not_your_Average_John/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20140404_002_zps61dff04c.jpg.html)

And now for something completely different:

This is actually a map of a world my friend and I are making. It took me a while to color this, as this is actually a scaled up version of the original, which is in one of my sketchbooks somewhere. So far, we don't have an official name for this world, but I think that will be on the agenda when my friend visits on Tuesday.

Also, I apologize for the size. I took this on my phone, and didn't realize it would be quite that big on a computer XD

So, here's a couple of pictures I drew pretty recently. I think I went a little overboard with the effects on the pic of Vivianne (on the right), but I don't think anyone will mind :P

Very nice! I like the style you use to sketch these. It adds a lot of personality/ texture to the pieces :)

Thank you! I tend to do more hatching and cross-hatching with some of my more recent drawings, but Evander I felt needed something a little different, so I went with whatever you would call that style of shading/texturing/whatever-the-technical-term-is.
Title: Re: The art of the Fox!

yeah, cross hatching is fun ^_^
Well, keep up with the art :D
I always promote it!

And here is a picture of one of my favorite characters, Liarri Delmoire. She looks very much the part of the local innkeeper, does she not? :P

She's so cute! Love the design! And also the colors you chose :D very nice

And here's a picture of my latest character, Lena Daviiri. I have another pic of her in the world showing off her skills with a sword, and I'll probably post that later, too. At any rate, have fun looking at my newest femme fatale! :P

And here's the pic of Ms. Daviiri showing off her sword skills... On a hapless apple. In hindsight, a steak or ham would have been more suiting, given her appearance... XD

Probably the hardest part about this pic was her right hand. It was about to drive me up the wall, and then I just said FINE! and left it in its current state :|

Nice dynamic action pose and attention to details! Yeah, her right hand is facing the wrong way but I've done that before XD her thumb should be facing her front, not back.

So, here's something new for a change. I decided I'd give digital art a try, and got a free drawing app and a stylus for my iPad, and this is what came out of it. Probably my second or third pic of Liarri, but she's one of my favorites, so that's expected I guess XD

So, today, I have three new pictures to share with y'all, which, in my opinion, are pretty cool.

First up, we have one of my favourite characters, the dark shadow mage Jy'aad Helvetii. Once you get past his rather morbid ease of humour, you'll find he's an excellent companion to have when delving into an old ruin infested with undead denizens who would otherwise still have their heads intact.

Secondly, we have my lovely metal worker over on RotE, Ms. Olivia Tulbert. She's a nice gal with an impressive work ethic and no nonsense attitude, although one can expect a little peck on the cheek every now and again if they're a regular. You got some you need repaired or made? Olivia's your gal.

Finally, we have my latest character, and arguably my newest favourite (after Jy'aad...), Emese Csintalan. She's a fair, understanding lady with deadly sword skills who doesn't take too kindly to fools and braggarts. She also loves dancing a jig or a reel when she's got some good ol' whiskey in her system... Just mind the sword, please.

Well... Looks like I need to post more art.... And, luckily for y'all, I have some!

First up, a pic of my character Emese doing a jig (or maybe it's a reel, I don't know) in the middle of an empty alley.

Next up, a sepia pic of Ms. Lena Daviiri, brushing up on her sword skills (you might recognize pose from an earlier picture, because I reused it for this one). Unlike the ones above and below this one, Lena is not as detailed as the others, nor does she pop out as much. This was partly due to a less than perfect photo, but also due to my inexperience with some of the filters I used for this picture. Still a nice piece, nonetheless.

And lastly, we have an admittedly non-canon portrayal of Eyiahad, my shadow mage. Still rather dapper looking.

For all of these, I used GIMP for the effects and text, while all the background images are stock photos taken from Pixabay.com (https://pixabay.com/)

My, my, this thread has gotten a bit dusty. No matter, I'll just post some more art xD
(http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t499/Not_your_Average_John/Emese%20Csintalan_zpspqpfscxn.png)

Here is another pic of Ms. Emese Csintalan, my travelling sword-fighter, with her practicing her archery skills in this pic.

Here's a picture of a character I haven't posted yet, but will here in a few days (or maybe even tonight if I can get myself  to actually sit down and write). Mr. Rashid Nadjezimi is the current Khaghan of the Söl-Ruhtin bandit clan (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=20230.0).

I'm surprised I haven't drawn this cute fluffball yet. This is one of my older characters, Evander Pelagius Blackfeather II (what a mouthful :P ), and he was a slave in Essyrn prior to him escaping in a crowd at the Colosseum, but he's got no contacts and no job.

Anyway, this picture is the first one I've done entirely digital from start to finish, and it was an interesting process, to say the least. I'm a bit surprised at how well this turned out given my lack of experience using a graphics tablet, but, hey, I'm not complaining!
