Okay, it was a little pitiful to shift from stealing because she wanted to to stealing because she had to. Sitting atop a pile of crates, she watched the people walking the street before her, just waiting for the opportunity to jump up and do a bit of pickpocketing, waiting for that moment when distracted people passed by. It wasn't coming as soon as she'd wanted, being hungry and unable to focus much as it was. Grrrrrummmmrrrrrrrmmrrrr. "Stop growling!" she snapped, what little patience she had with her body's need for fuel wearing thin. Though she usually was quite stealthy, it was not something that graced her now so she didn't want to just run out and attempt to steal in broad daylight if there was a good chance of being noticed before the deed was done.

As the minutes droned on her concentration waned. Tired, she slumped a bit where she sat and continued to stare, but what she was seeing wasn't really registering. Person, person, and another person...there's another one. Person, person... But then her opportunity finally came. In a flash of color she saw a young boy go by and she sprung into action.

Jumping down from the pile of crates, her foot caught the edge of one and on her way down a few of them came crashing to the ground. She didn't care, though. She had her target. Jogging down the street after the boy, she had trouble after moving so quickly. Dizzy, she weaved between the people on the street, practically stumbling after the boy dressed in such rich clothing, her hope being that he had some money on him.

The boy himself seemed preoccupied; it didn't seem like he'd noticed the crash behind him and he was so obviously heading somewhere. Dacia got it together enough to focus on him once she was near and she walked quietly, becoming one with the crowd. When she had the feeling that people had stopped staring at her she moved closer to walk right behind the boy, her eyes darting to find his coin purse.

Ah! There! In a blur of movement her hand reached out and slipped the little bag from the boy's belt all while she pretended, yet ended up actually due to her dizziness, bumping into him. Smiling, she quickly and quietly apologized before slipping back into the crowd, the little bag already stowed in her pocket. A personal grin brightened her face as she eased her way off to the side, slinking around the corner and into an alley. "Heh." She grinned. "Now I can eat...finally."

'Left side of town, come on, speed it up!'

Jesse made a face, but he kept going in the right direction. He wasn't running - nor was he trying to appear subtle. He kept his eyes downcast in any case, hoping to the gods and goddesses that no-one had noticed anything about him that was considered 'abnormal'. For this was Connloath, and he wouldn't put it past them. At least a pirate wasn't considered abnormal - he walked past several, inclining his head to them in greeting. They'd mostly return it too.

He'd left Julius in charge of the ship - and it's crew - he knew they'd be just fine. With pretty boy watching over them, Jesse had nothing to worry for. He rounded another corner, almost walking right into someone. A young boy by appearance. In clothing that Jesse would never come across normally. Naturally - it made him stare a little.

'Theres something more interesting, pet!'

He turned, and saw a girl with brown hair trying to meld back within the crowd. But Jesse was one to look out for these things. Along with the handful-of-something she was attempting to hide. His eyes narrowed, and he followed after her. Thin by the looks of it, and fast too. He had a hard time keeping up. Lifting a hand to his bandana in frustration as he lost her for a second. But there was a momentary lapse in the swarm of people. He saw her again - and he was off.

People had a knack for getting in the way - Jesse knew. He nearly shoved an old man over. Not that he really cared much. But he reached her, and just followed closely for a time. Wondering what she was planning on doing with that money. But she turned sharply, and Jesse lifted his brows - but followed.

She'd turned into an alley it seemed. So he followed suit. Planting one hand on the corner and stepping around, leaning on the wall beside her head, he smirked. "You know, pet - a proper thief never would've been caught." He chuckled once, then. "Still, impressive that the kid didn't notice." He lifted his free hand to tap her knuckles, as if in a silent invitation for her to show him exactly what she 'liberated'.

She was too busy mentally cheering for her victory to notice someone near her. When he spoke, she didn't jump even though she was surprised to hear it, but she slowly turned her head to look at him. Her eyes were a storm of irritation and slight caution, though she didn't let emotions mess up her features...yet. She wasn't the cleanest in the world now, she knew, and that was something surely to be ashamed of. A fine layer of dirt rested atop her exposed skin, but right now that wasn't her priority.

What did he want, though?! Did he want the money or something? She wasn't quite sure, but she lowered her hand a bit anyway as if to stuff the little bag back in her pocket, but he caught her first. Muttering a little, she looked down at her hand clenched around her ticket out of insanity, briefly opened her hand, then snapped her fist tight around it again. "Just a few coins, what d'you care, huh?" Hopefully this guy was an idiot, perhaps believing the little lie that she'd merely stolen the spare change of that boy. Perhaps he'd be stupid enough to look past the fact that the motion of her hand had caused that familiar sound of many too-close coins rasping against each other.

For her, though, this situation wasn't good and it drew her attention from that gnawing hunger. She'd been caught. Caught. She hadn't been caught in a while and even then there hadn't been anyone else around, but he'd caught her, and she assumed he'd seen her going through the crowd. Frowning, unsure of him, she turned to look at him again but kept her feet pointed away in case she had cause to run away again.

Dacia didn't like the look on his face, like he was so good for catching her. Yet, that was the truth, she just didn't want to admit it. "I wouldn't have been caught if you'd have just looked the other way, right? Just go on, then, I don't need you here hovering over my prize."

With confidence she didn't have, she raised her chin, huffed, and turned to march down the alley away from him. She thought she might come across some sort of vendor on the other side, or perhaps a tavern, but she needed something, she was starved.
