It had been a fun few days, for Axieva had spent several of them with Rit, enjoying his presence and his strange magic--and enjoying his body. She had jumped him more than just that once, because she found his new form irresistible, and it really had been too long since she'd shared such intimacy and pleasure with another person, and she delighted in her improved body. She didn't give a care as to the risks, because it hardly even occurred to her, or even mattered.
There had been a time in her life, back with her old mate, when she had wanted children, but even though they had tried, she had never conceived. With his loss, she had given up on the idea--and also concluded what she had been too upset to conclude with him: that maybe she just couldn't have children.
Because it had never occurred to her that the issue wasn't on her end.
After days of fun with Rit, who was definitely her friend and lover, but she wasn't sure whether he was her mate, however, it was eventually time to get back to work. Likely, there were contracts that needed fulfilling, and though Rit could provide her with all the meat she wanted, there was nothing that compared to the thrill of the hunt--
And human livers.
That morning, she roused from sleep, uncurling from Rit and stretching languidly, her wings spreading out behind her as she pushed back the blankets. She folded her wings again and yawned, rubbing at her eyes, then leaned over Rit and kissed his forehead.
"I am going to Zantaric today," she announced as she rose to her cloven hooves, naked, and went about grabbing her clothing. She grabbed her fur skirt and wrapped it around her hips, frowning a little. It had also been nice not having to deal with clothes for a few days, but humans were strange and always reacted badly.
So, with a sigh, she took up the loose shirt she sometimes wore and threw that on as well. Though that always felt even more unnecessary. Human men went shirtless all the time, after all!
Dressed for the trip, she reached back and pulled her hair into a messy braid. "There are more heads to collect, and I need the hunt. You may come, yes, or stay. Whatever you choose."
