Cass, who normally moved on unsteady surfaces with confident ease, was decidedly cautious in her movements on top of the dragon. She could stumble and then roll off the lip of the mountain. Krah's blase attitude irked her, spurring on her efforts to prove she could overcome her fear of heights. Was she afraid of the scene they would find at court? No. Was she afraid of plummeting far, far down and being reduced to nothing less than a flapjack of guts, blood, and bones? Yes. Yes, she was.
She muttered to herself under her breath, unable to pay attention to what Krah was saying as the dragon straightened up and began to amble towards the edge of the mountain, "Fuck. Fuck... Fucking, fuck, shit..." Her voice grew louder as she realized what the dragon had in mind. "Oh, no. NO! Fuck. No! You piece of..."
The dragon took one step and pitched itself off the cliff, and they plummeted quickly before the wind caught in the beast's wings. Cass pressed herself close to the dragon's neck, legs and thighs screaming from the effort of clinging on, her hands clenching great patches of fur and the skin beneath. Even when the dragon's flight evened out and he was on a plane, Cass still did not find it in herself to untangle herself or open her eyes. Gods, this was terrible! She was positively furious with the whole situation. With the dragon, with Krah and his smug confidence, with herself for being so weak as to fear heights. It wasn't even that she minded the thought of death! But being smashed against the rocks below was the last way she wanted to die.

((Your description of the dragon reminds me of the flying dog-beast thing from the Neverending Story!))
