Tennin controlled his anger at Hiram being called his master. He was not his servant. They were business partners turned friends. People often assumed he served Hiram, as many foreigners paid for the service of Essyrni. That was not the case in this instance. Tennin had many connections and knew his country, especially this city, very well. Hiram had valued his input, and his loyalty, and had made him full partner. Everything was 50/50. Others didn't see it that way though.
"I think his interest in you is foolish," Tennin said, "especially since he claims he doesn't find you attractive. He just has some weird obsession since that meeting." Tennin was ready to let her go then, was even turning away. "He thinks I haven't heard him mumbling to himself. Something about sole dust. What does sand on the bottom of your foot have to do with anything."
