Physical Description
One of the taller women in her town, Hay-Gee isn't remarkable in beauty but by her unique looks. Her hair is a terrible, frizzy mess, appearing not curly at all, but wanting to be. Her skin is always chapped, especially her full lips and rosied cheeks, but she's always smiling and her green eyes are most certainly her prettiest feature. Other than that, pretty much every girl in the town has grown up a lot prettier than she is. They all have curves where Hay-Gee remained slim and a bit grubby from her work. If anything, people say she's 'cute', like Old Man Peterson's poodle!

The stark contrast of her appearance beside her pretty as a picture cousin often times has her over looked by the boys. She herself, never has had a real first kiss, and only ever once had a crush on a boy who was recruited for the war efforts when she was still young. She still dreams of him returning, as she misses him as a friend, and secretly hopes he could be the boy for something more.

Personality
Always happy, perky and helpful; Hay-Gee is the type of girl who would rather she herself get burned than a close friend (or anyone else for that matter). She keeps a lot of her problems to herself so as not to burden anyone, but she's pretty honest to a fault, so it's hard for her to keep things inside if she doesn't have to.

Magic/Abilities
None known

Relationships
Cousin- Though her cousin from the North has shorter hair, much like herself, she has a pretty, heart shaped face and pretty blonde hair and blue eyes all the men fall for. But as it is, she's her best friend and the two seem to be glued at the hip!

Ciaran, the Blacksmith's son- Hay-Gee's first real friend, 'brother', and first and only crush. He was fourteen at the time he was recruited to the war. Hay-Gee hasn't seen or heard from him since.

Hagatha 'Gattie' Emson- her mother; alive, but somewhat crippled

Harold Emson- deceased

History
Hay-Gee wasn't born with that name, rather it was given to her and it stuck. She was actually born Hailey Gale Emson, to a poor family in the duchy of Ahjfeld. They were apple farmers known for their baked goods, which they sold from their home or to others in the small village of Aspenward, since prices for premium apples from duchies like Orchy, were too expensive to ship in. Aspenward was one of the few places in Ahjfeld that actually had some decent land to farm, though most of the profit, and product, were given up to the ruling Duke as their right because all property in Ahjfeld was owned by the Duke and simply 'lent' to the peasants to tend and till.

Aspenward was a large area of land, primarily farm lands, so the population wasn't high (unless you counted the cattle at Lamie Engell's farm). The Emson's baked the town it's sweets and on occasion, breads, the Engell's had cows for meat and milk, the Raymond's on Overpass hill tended to sheep, the Beckley's tended to the mill, and with the upstart of the war, the Manovich's took to mining when they found out there was iron a plenty in the Fogwart's Foothills.

With mining came some new family's and new jobs in Aspenward, and a family of smiths came out of it- born from an old man and his grandson, who tended to the smith for many hours on end. Although this blacksmith family was quiet and kept to itself, it seemed the young Emson girl didn't understand or fear the gruff nature of the blacksmith, and befriended the old man and his son. She was seen as more like a daughter to him, and a sister to his grandson.

She was a pretty little thing in her youth, with long dark hair and bright green eyes. She had just a smattering of freckles, which were hard to tell through her always dirty skin. She loved to play in the mud, climb trees and watch the two smith's work. It was rather interesting to her. She also loved hearing stories the blacksmith told, even though they were dark and scary. But most were true. He was a war veteran and had the scars to prove it.

Hay-Gee admired him for his stories. However, as war crept ever closer to their home, the smith's son, who was a few years her senior, was eventually recruited to join the war efforts-
Not as a warrior, though even that was in high demand, but as a black smith to the army of Ahjfeld. She never knew if she'd ever see that boy again, but before he left she found herself doing something silly-

She told the boy, who was barely fourteen years of age at the time, that he should make the best swords and helms the duchy has ever seen, and his work would help win the war and bring peace back to Connlaoth. Of course, this was a childish dream from a girl who had never once been touched by war. The worse blow she was dealt was when her friend, the smith's grandson, left her- and thus left a hole in her life.

She didn't know it then, but he had been her first 'true love', and every day since his drafting into the army, she's day dreamed about when they be reunited. Little did she know he'd turn out to be some hulking muscled, well chiseled man-
where as she? She grew up tough, and the same bubbly, fun and fearless girl she'd ever been, but the years weren't kind to her. Where she had been so beautiful and cute in her youth, she grew up looking more like her father, with blotchy red cheeks from harsh winds, genes and labor, her dark hair lightened some and went from straight to a complete frizzy, unkempt mess, which, because of how annoying it was, she often cut it short, which elicited some teasing from others in Aspenward.

So now all grown up, little Hay-Gee looks nothing like her former self, and it wasn't only until recently did she ever start feeling ashamed by the way she looked- because another military boy had left around the same time her blacksmith friend had, and he barely recognized Hay-Gee and couldn't believe how ugly she had grown up to be!

So the once fiesty and carefree girl suddenly began to feel very self conscious, and slowly her dreams of being reunited with the blacksmith's boy, began to turn into more of an anxious reunion than anything else. But still, she kept herself positive and at least had one friend with her throughout those years-
her best friend and cousin who had come down from the North. Her family's land had to be given up for the war efforts to be used as mage camps. she was a pretty thing then, and was known as the town's beauty now-

And she came from a bit of a wealthier upbringing and kept herself as pretty as fresh cut flowers. So many of the Apsenward boys fell in love with her, and she more or less dated them all, but there wasn't one that she loved-
Although she did profess her love to Hay-Gee. THey were best friends, and became more like sister's than anything else, and both took care of one another, and both remained as ignorant as they could over the war-

And grew closer still when news came back that all of Hay-Gee's cousin's family had been slaughtered in a mage attack up North. Although Hay-Gee knew her cousin cried, her cousin never once came out to confess it to her. She knew she would someday, and Hay-Gee just remained as a quiet, steadfast rock for her to lean on and in time, they soon found themselves with just each other, running the orchy and bakery while Hay-Gee's father had passed and her mother broke her leg and finds it hard to walk.

But the two girls keep on dreaming...
while the war keeps on growing.
