Physical Description
Nani seems to be a study in color contrast: her jet black hair is streaked through with silvery white, the same color as her wings--which resemble a magpie's more than a tropical bird's, with the white feathers standing out starkly against bronzed skin. Her eyes are a deep shade of gold that occasionally darkens to amber in certain light. Though of average height for a Yoreiqi woman, she has a rather imposing build.

Her tattoos start on her cheeks, a series of black lines that dip and spiral along her cheekbones to curl up around and frame her eyes, then trail off toward her jaw. She bares a rusty red stripe from her lips down her chin which tapers into a delicate point along her throat. From there, her tattoos are a mix of delicate black swirls and blocky red geometric shapes that tangle together and swoop across her chest and shoulders, then down her spine to wrap around her waist. Bands of red and black, alternating in thickness, march up her arms from wrist to elbow and her legs from her ankle to about mid calf.

Personality
Nani is typically a gentle person, a healer and protector by nature. She is fiercely loyal to those she cares about (and considering the communal nature of most Yoreiqi, that basically means her whole village). She is soft spoken and a little serious, sometimes excessively so. She also tends to have a bit of an obsessive personality, which can be both a gift and a curse.

Magic/Abilities
Dreamwalking: a shamanistic ability that allows Nani to travel through the dreams of others, giving her insights into a person's past and even allowing her to heal wounds, both physical and psychological, if given enough time. The downside to this ability is that when she's using it if she is injured in a dream, she's really injured. She can even be killed.

Paladin abilities: As a paladin, Nani is stronger and faster than the average human, with better senses. She also has a strong connection with her Charge, whoever they may be, that allows her to sense when they are in danger and even (in extreme cases) to communicate telepathically.

Relationships
Her home village, everyone in it is her family.

History
Nani has lived a very typical Yoreiqi life, for the most part. The village she was born in is situated on a small stretch of beach at the edge of the jungle, giving all who live there easy access to both fishing and hunting. She had a fairly average childhood, the only thing remotely noteworthy that ever happened to her was her growing powers as a dreamwalker, which became more and more prevalent the older she got. At the age of twelve, her gift was realized and she began a tutelage under her village's most practiced mage. While not a dreamwalker himself, the old man was able to help her hone her abilities.

The night she turned fifteen, when she received her tattoos, Nani had what she at first assumed to be one of her dreamwalks, but this one was strange—she couldn't tell whose dream she was in, and she had the constant nagging sensation that she was searching for someone. Since then, she's had the same dream multiple times, increasing in frequency the older she gets. Nowadays, she has it almost every night.

Unknown to Nani, the dream is a byproduct of her Paladin abilities; Paladins are rare, beings who act as a sort of guardian angel to a very specific person, usually referred to as a Charge. This Charge is someone of great importance, someone whose life is meant to affect some sort of change in the world.

Born of any race, no one is quite sure how and why Paladins come into being. All that is known is that once they come of age, a Paladin will eventually be inexorably drawn to his or her Charge.
