CH. I – Painting a Portrait
He was but a man that looked like all other men.  What could possibly stand out?  Would it be the white blonde of his hair, slicked back and smooth to the touch, yet could shift orange as fire or black as smoke in an instant?  Or might it be the eyes of silver, rimmed with a green that fluctuates like the surface of water when an object disrupts it, eyes that look beyond you, through you to another plane, another time.

But Ghanon is not just a man, though he may resemble all other men, even in his natural form.  With an athletic musculature, thick but slender, lean but charged, his stance is hungry but tempered by patience.  Standing at an average six foot one, he is long-limbed, making smooth strides that make it seem he is gliding rather than walking.  When revealed and undisguised, Ghanon's face is a regal one with a straight nose and a thin but firm mouth, his face slim and jawline, thin and angular.  His expression is often unassuming, open with just a hint of curiosity.  There's a bit of wideness to his eyes as his brows slant away from each other in a high browline, though his browridge protrudes just slightly from his high, rounded forehead.  Yet at the same time there is a sinister look to him, a faint deviousness that is difficult to detect even to a well-trained eye.

+ PREFERRED CLOTHING +
Because his clothing is a part of his person, they morph with him as he does.  They usually appear as an array of simple black and blue robes, dark trousers and boots, with a pair of silver colored bracers, ornate and decorated with glyphs.  They can dissolve as easily as they reappear, and transform into any clothing of his choice.

CH II – Mental Make-up

Ghanon is a difficult being to understand fully.  At times he seems a sadist that laughs at confusion and bewilderment of panicked mortals undergoing the chaos that he has wrought.  He is devious to the core, and enjoys creating illusions and leading people astray.  From opening the doors to mortal dreams and allowing them to realize their potential only to have it taken away to inserting doubt into the minds of the most devout to disguising himself as people of importance.  He is a grand skilled manipulator and liar, a bringer of temptation and master of deceit.  Often he is considered a madman, given too much power than he knows what to do with.

Ghanon serves himself as a free agent, an embodiment of disorder, chaos, panic, change, and imbalance and against all things of Order and law, considering himself above it.  There is a great sense of arrogance from this ideal, but it is yet to have been proven wrong.  He's fiercely independent in his being and his purpose and serves no god or deity.  It is in this that it is known that he is not particularly fond of them or their ideals.  Ghanon will only ever serve himself as only he can understand the capacity of his power.  He is wary of disciples and missionaries and godly heralds and absolutely loves to mess with them.

Yet beneath this attitude is a savaged heart, emotionally torn, resentful, bitter, and full of regret.  Though part of him takes pleasure as an entity of change, he does so because it is his purpose to do so, whether it is subtle or on a grand scale; he must always test the worlds around him, challenging them to adapt or be left to die. There is a deep sense of understanding of the heart of mortals because he used to be one of them.  There is a longing in him to find a world in which he belongs, yet there can never be such a thing for him.  To the mortal plane, he is an evil being to be feared and rejected, spurned at every turn.  To the gods, he is a trickster and a devil, to be stopped and thwarted.  He must belong everywhere and nowhere.  With this he harbors feelings of resentment and even hatred for the things that hound and demonize him.  There is a sense of regret to him, the weight of an action that changed the meaning of his existence he, yet for all his power, cannot change.

Though many of his actions bring about death, does not hold himself responsible for things like war and murder.  That does not mean, however, he particularly likes death as a means to a solution.  It is a subject he is generally ambivalent towards, but understands that is usually inevitable when it comes to the affairs of the mortal plane.

+ FAITH +

"...Your master, he's a monster..."

The very existence of Ghanon marks him as a foe to many a deity, and for all intents and purposes he is not on good terms with any such being, whether they are for good or evil.  They feel he has touched powers he shouldn't have, and he feels they often have abused powers they had no right to do so.  Not fully a mortal, yet not a god, Ghanon is caught between two forms of existence that allow no room for faith as a steady part of his existence.

+ HABITS +
Those that encounter Ghanon are usually convinced of his disguise.  He's a well-trained actor in this aspect.  He will generally not reveal himself to anyone unless he wants to, but one thing is for certain is that he is usually up to no good.

CH III – Social

+ RELATIONSHIPS +
  Emperor Valdric, Father,
  Empress Casia, Mother,
  Prince Cassander, Elder brother, deceased

CH IV – Powers / Abilities

+ TELEPORTATION +
At any time, to any location, Ghanon may warp to it, whether that place be in another realm, dimension, or point in time.  He may do so by "cutting" through the fabric of reality, creating a small, temporary portal that he may vanish into that transports him to his desired location.  Using this power, he may not only transport to physical locations and moments, but he may also enter a person's mind while they sleep, entering their dreams, as well as being capable of travelling through mirrors.

+ TELEPATHY +
While not capable of mind reading, Ghanon has some skill in influence the minds of others.  He may speak into a person's mind and implant thoughts, influencing them to say things he wants them to.  However, he cannot force a person to say or do anything without there being a trace of such a desire already present.

+ SHAPESHIFTING +
He is a master of disguise and can transform his form into any person or living thing, people and animals, even capable of assuming the images of deceased creatures and beings.  With his knack for mental influence and the power to enter dreams, he even may assume some of the personality traits and abilities of the person he is disguised as, whether the subject is a man or a woman.  Using this power, he often creates alternate identities when he places himself upon a world.

+ ASTRAL PROJECTION +
Traveling though the void of the universe calls for the power to survive in it as well.  His astral form is one in the same as his physical form, simultaneously ethereal and physical.  Unlike the traditional thought of such a power, he does not need to abandon a physical body to project himself into the universe outside.

+ MASTERY OF TIME +
Ghanon has the power to control time, whether it is to slow it, freeze it, or reverse it.  He may travel through time at will, to the past and alter events, or into the uncertain future, following a specific thread of time.  Yet he is often treated as a separate entity outside the threads of time; he may manipulate the timelines of others, but not his own.

+ CLAIRVOYANCE +
He may predict the future to some extent and reveal to mortals their possible futures.  It is a difficult thing to foresee because of its sheer uncertainty and potential instability, but he is capable of predicting the future as far as the next few days to the next few years, any further and the paths become shadier and more difficult to ascertain.  This is not a gift Ghanon uses often, as it has the potential to both correct and incorrect.

+ CORROTHIM SORCERY +
He has skill in magic and sorcery beyond that of his acquired powers, that range from walking on water to energy projection and creating force fields to protect him from harm, to even levitation and flight.  However, he does not have any influence over elemental powers nor is he capable of tapping into their strength.  In addition, he may temporarily grant a watered down version of his powers to others, usually when they are in his presence or when he deems them worthy enough and usually never to the fullest extent.  However, he may also take them away at will.

*Minor abilities include superhuman strength and durability (Corrothim heritage), immortality and immunity to all mortal diseases.

CH V – Gear / Equipment
Ghanon does not possess any real items or equipment that he requires to survive.  The seeming exceptions are the two bracers that coat his forearms, but these are more decorative than serving any real purpose.  Though they may be able to block attacks by weapons, they have no real purpose other than that.

CH VI – Reflections of the Past

"...In the presence of another world
A dreadful knowledge comes
How even space can modulate
And earthly things be done..."

The universe was once a peaceful place, where the gods planned and schemed their workings in the lives of mortals, awing them and ruling them as they saw fit.  They strove for balance, harmony within the realms in a place where one worldly action often affected the state of another.  But when Dragolir, the god of change, threatened the plunge the universe into mass chaos, the other gods knew that in order to preserve the universe in its present state, he must be destroyed.  Dragolir was hunted down and slain, and his city of Mesmer, the Changing City, destroyed and suspended it and all the native Gorgiri at a locked point in time.  Before his death, Dragolir willed all his essence into a lock of hair that was cut from his head, willing it so that a child, as they reached a certain age, would inherit all his powers.  The lock was strewn into the void of space where it drifted along.  And somewhere in time, a woman with child breathed in the essences of Dragolir's hair as she labored in birth.

In an ancient past now forgotten on a world now lost, there resided the plane of Corroth, a world of the highest honor and strength, pride and glory.  And there was born the child Ghanon, second son of Emperor Valdric and Empress Casia of Corroth, and younger brother to Cassander, the heir and first born.  By tradition, the second born must serve the first undyingly and swear their loyalty to them as the heir.  Though he still loved his brother, he could not let Ghanon forget his place, for it was the first born's place to rule Corroth after Valdric and not Ghanon.  Ghanon resented being treated in such a way, as lesser than his own kin.

Ghanon grew to a man, learning his own talents in sorcery though such interests were forbidden, as they were deemed far too dangerous, unpredictable and affected the soul of a person negatively, as proscribed by the Three Magi, the magic counsel of the Emperor.  Some said the magic changed him, tainted him, others said it only made him stronger.  He'd tried to forget his place, to put it behind him, but the envy was there and would not be ignored.  He could feel the magic feed into him and out of him, fluctuating as if there were dual souls to be had within his mortal form.

His practices were secret and soon he reached the age where he would marry.  He once loved the beautiful and bright Lady Arivine, whom he loved his whole life and devoted himself too whenever he had the chance.  But when he proposed, she rejected him, declaring that she couldn't marry a man that she didn't love, that she'd never loved him and though she'd never said it before, she'd always loved Cassander instead.  He didn't know what happened; something inside him snapped and filled him with an anger he'd never felt before.  It was the last straw; his brother had taken everything important from him: their father's love, the throne, his dignity, his lover.  Until there was nothing left but the anger.

When the opportunity arose, he confronted Cassander and unleashed his rage, all the years of resentment at being looked down upon, the jealousy, the pain.  He challenged his brother and fought against him relentlessly, though their skill in weaponry brought them to a stalemate.  Struggling to gain the upperhand, Ghanon finally released his power, a blast of pale green energy that ripped a hole through his brother's body, killing him instantly.  He felt the power, the surge that Corrothim sorcery had given him and it enveloped him like a storm.  But it was a storm that soon gave way to the calm afterward.  Ghanon felt himself weaken and the anger faded with the surge of power.  And in its wake, the realization at what he'd just done flooded through him.  Immediate regret and sorrow came upon him in waves as he tried to undo what he'd done, to restore the life he'd taken away from his brother.  But for all his power, he could not save the ones he loved from death.

Soon the guards discovered him and took him to face Valdric, taking him to the edges of Corroth, where the gate to the Void resided, the entrance into the emptiness of the universe.  It was here that the most heinous of crimes were punished, where Corrothim prisoners were pushed through it, banished from Corroth, and were to suffocate in the vacuum of space.  Ghanon had looked upon his father's face as he sentenced his last remaining son, declaring his crimes of treason, murder, and heresy against the Magi, guilty to the very last word, and in his face he saw nothing more than disappointment, tears of failure and pain before his father pushed his foot into his chest, launching through the gateway and into the depths of the void.

He struggled against the silence as if he were dying and somewhere felt his body grow weary and it was as if he was cast into a deep sleep.  And there he drifted until he landed in a strange place, awaking when his back came upon the surface of a platform of stone, lighted by four orbs of purple light and suspended in space.  He'd arrived at the beginning and end of time, the Connexion Point.  A voice greeted him, asking, "Awake, my Sacred Sleeper," a voice that was unfamiliar but not threatening.  He could not see the speaker, only hear him as the voice began to explain why Ghanon was spared from death in the Void, that he was to assume the powers of the slain god Dragolir, powers of shapeshifting, mastery over time and space, and to influence the fates of the all the mortal planes.  Though he was confused, gradually his senses came together, understanding how and why he'd come to be here.  The voice stressed his new purpose to carry this mantle, which he may never again worry of age, death or despair, to become the bane of all godly works, as the Astralwalker, the Sacred Sleeper, as Ghanon of Dragolir.
