Physical Description Sorin, still having the slender frame of a young man, is all muscle. His skin is pale, almost unnaturally so, and it does not seem to react to copious amounts of sunlight one way or another. His hair is pure ink black, brushing his ears and sweeping across his forehead, save for at the very back - there it is held in many small braids interwoven with feathers, beads, fangs and claws that reach about mid-back at their longest. His eyes are an intense, bright, otherworldly shade of green - arguably his most defining feature - and have an exotic cat-like shape to them. His face is youthful, with mostly delicate features, so that he could probably be best described as 'pretty'. His ears are pierced, his right more heavily than his left. In his left ear is a single large half-circle created from two bird talons tied tightly together at their thickest point and then slid through the hole (thus stretching it out, much like a gauge today). On his right ear is a silver loop attached to a chain that weaves itself through two other piercings higher up on his ear, the chain ending with a small crescent moon and left to dangle.
His wardrobe is sparse. His black pants are made of leather of some kind, but appear to be a patch-work of many different pieces. Well-worn boots of an equally dark color ride up to his knees, buckled into place. On his top he wears nothing but a long, wide scarf of a deep red, almost black itself. Usually wrapped about his neck, he is able to pull one of the folds up and over his head much like a hood. The ends are adorned with tassels, each one capped with an animal-shaped bead carved from bone. A curved blade sits at his hip, originally a ceremonial knife, but now it is more often used to help him defend himself. A bow and quiver of arrows is also usually on his person, for hunting purposes (though picking off a Mordecai or two with it has happened before). His mother's staff, a gnarled black branch with a dark purple stone set in the top as if held by boney fingers, is usually strapped to his back.

Personality Sorin is quiet, but that is mostly due to not having an adequate partner with whom to talk (as two young girls, one of whom even quieter than himself, do not make for the most chatty company). Despite living a rather feral life, Sorin possesses a strange tendency toward gentleness. He cares for the two girls in his possession with tenderness and love, and often helps troubled animals he comes across, putting his healing abilities to good use. He has also helped the occasional traveler, usually by passing along one of his herbal remedies rather than risking using any sort of magic. He does not enjoy hurting those that pursue him, but he knows it is necessary, and for the sake of keeping his 'sisters' safe, he will use any means necessary. He is capable of a frightening degree of ferocity, especially when cornered, and acts more like a wild animal than a person. But one should not be led into believing he is stupid - Sorin is incredibly keen and clever. He has already learned much of the Mordecai's ways, allowing him to adapt and create tactics to escape or kill them. He is also very curious, and will sit for hours to observe and learn something, whether it be about a nesting bird or a group of Mordecai attempting to track him through the wilderness. It is his quick mind that has allowed him to survive this long.

Weaknesses So far, nothing seems to slow him down, much like his mother before him. He lives for the sake of the two little girls with him, and will put himself in harm's way for them - making them probably the only piece of leverage against a person otherwise unfettered by worldly possessions and attachments.

Strengths Sorin is an incredibly powerful witch (or mage if you prefer), coupled with a very sharp intellect. He is also perfectly at home in the wilderness and can fend for himself with relative ease. And should his power to cast spells be nullified by a Mordecai, he still has a few tricks up his sleeves. Overall, it's his versatility that makes him such a tricky opponent.

Likes Being outdoors, the moon, all manner of creature (but specifically crows, spiders and wolves), sleeping under the stars, morning dew, the whispering of the wind, swimming, taking naps in trees, singing with the birds, cuddling with bears, riding dire wolves, riding stags, teasing snakes, honey, figs, rabbit meat, teaching Lavi magic, communing with the gods of earth and sky.

Dislikes Mordecai, knights in general, hunters of beasts (feels they do not pay the proper homage for the creatures they are killing), snow and cold weather, the strange objects that shoot balls of metal (aka guns), Lavi and Lumi being threatened/hurt/endangered, his mother's final spell.

Magic/Abilities Can cause plants to grow into monstrous entities; can control plantlife in general; can enthrall animals to do his bidding; can call his chosen animals (wolves, crows, spiders) to him; proficient healer both with magic and herbal remedies; able to alter the weather - usually to summon thunderstorms or fog; can 'breathe' fire (trick spell); can make himself immune to fire, as well as summon blue-black flames of an unnatural sort; can understand the 'speech' of most animals and creatures; able to transform into an abnormally shaped wolf (some mix between werewolf and regular wolf); proficient in enchanting items; his scarf is enchanted and can be used both as a weapon and a shield; unsurprisingly, his knife is also heavily enchanted, but apart from being able to block sword blows as if it too were a sword, it's powers are largely unknown; the buckles on his boots are also enchanted, allowing him to move much faster and more nimbly than your average human.

Relationships Morrigan - Mother - a witch of infamy, she led the family group for many years. She kept the group safe, but at the same time it was the tales of her unnatural power that ultimately drove the group from place to place to escape attack. She was said to have been devil born and un-aging, and that she lay with men and begot all manner of creatures, werewolves in particular. She could command ravens and crows, as well as wolves, dogs, and all manner of vermin and insect. She was a master shape shifter, though all her forms had a certain demonic edge to them - she was even rumored to have once taken the shape of a dragon. She was eventually killed in Connlaoth by the Mordecai, along with most of the family unit, as they were not accustomed to being unable to use their magic. All the same, as she burned, she declared that from her ashes a terrible curse would rise, and that should her kin ever again be in danger, she would return from beyond to destroy their enemies with black magic.
Sorin does not know how many, if any, of the tales about his mother are true. He is her son, though he knows not who his father is, nor did anyone else in their family group. Her final 'spell', however, has him worried - he's not sure just what sort of curse she may have unleashed in her pain and anger.

Lavinia - Lavi for short - A young survivor of the massacre, she is also a witch. No more than five or six, she is abnormally quiet, and has a piercing stare similar to Sorin's own. Her skin is a dark brown, while her hair is an even darker shade. Were it straight, it would probably be about shoulder-length, but instead it is finely crimped and puffs in a rather exaggerated way. Her eyes are a dark honey color, rather large in her young face. She is dressed in nothing but a 'skirt' of rabbit skins and a necklace made of bird leg bones, beaks, and talons (which is enchanted for her protection). She is Sorin's new apprentice, as her own parents were killed along with the rest of the adults. Though she usually shows little emotion, she cares greatly for her two companions, and does her best to be a 'big girl'.

Luminita - Lumi for short - Perhaps only two, Lumi does not really fit in with her two companions. With pale blond hair (often in braids to keep it clean and tangle-free) and sky blue eyes, her skin is a peachy hue that tans slightly in the sunlight. She is not a magic-user, and in fact was not originally a part of Sorin's group. She was abandoned by her fleeing family in Connlaoth backcountry when Sorin's group came upon them all and made it clear they were witches. Rather than kill the child, Sorin's family group simply adopted her as one of their own. Obviously, she has little concept of what has happened or what their current situation is. (If somebody wants to be related to her/know her, please feel free!)

History Sorin can remember living no life other than that spent with his traveling family. From the time he was young, his mother Morrigan was beautiful and strong, and led their group and kept them safe. The group was comprised of about four individual families who had come together for mutual support and safety. The smallest family was Sorin and his mother, while the largest held six individuals. In total they usually had about 20 witches living and traveling together, of all ages. Their large group circles could summon all sorts of weather changes and apparitions, or cause the ground to quake or the rivers to flow backward. And Morrigan herself was a witch of much lore, making their life a difficult one that required a lot of moving and traveling. But never would they consider giving up their way of life, their magic, their gods and goddesses. So even when things got bad, and they made for the mountains in the distance, they remained optimistic. Sorin learned everything from his mother, and did his best to ignore the tales told by his fellow family members about his mother. She had found them all and brought them together, and despite years of living together, nobody knew many facts about her, just the tales. Sorin himself was never courageous enough to ask his mother for answers, and so hoped that the stories that he might be the child of a devil-spawn, or that he would one day turn into a werewolf, were not true. And though nobody knew who his father was, there was never any question as to who had given birth to him - he was a spitting image of his mother, and was often just called 'Morrigan's son', which eventually led to his full name 'Sorin of the Morrigan'.
When the group traveled over the mountains in search of lands that had not yet heard of them, they used their collective power to keep themselves shielded from the snow and harsh weather. But the land they found, though lush and fertile, was full of a strange new enemy. The Mordecai. Never before having encountered a people that could stop their magic from working, the family did not fare so well as usual when they were attacked. More and more of the group were killed, until their numbers were cut roughly in half. Morrigan's fierce fighting earned her a reputation in Connlaoth quickly enough, and the campaign against her was rather incredible. When she had finally been cornered, she recognized imminent defeat and took measures. Sending Sorin off with the only two children left, she also entrusted him with her staff - perhaps sealing her fate, as her abilities were far less potent without it. She and the remaining members of her family fought to the bitter end, but ultimately fell. The others were beheaded, but Morrigan still seemed able to turn away the steel as it struck her neck, and so she was burned. And as the flames engulfed her, she let out her final spell:
"Hear me, sons and daughters of man who sought to go against me and my kin!
I am Morrigan, the Black Witch, and my blood runs hotter than the flames that burn my flesh!
From the ashes of my remains, a terrible blackness will rise and settle on the horizon!
Heed this warning - if you ever dare to threaten my kin again, I will claw my way back from the depths of the netherworld and smite you with my own hand!
The evil I will unleash upon this land will be unlike any that has come before!"
Sorin had heard her screamed words even as he fled, and to this day he worries about what sort of curse could slither out of the earth should he ever be in true mortal danger. Since that time, Sorin has taken to hiding, keeping himself and the girls safe. He wishes to leave the valley that Connlaoth sits in, but taking a known road could prove fatal, and the mountain passes are far too brutal for him to cross unaided. So for now, he's trapped, in a cage full of Mordecai that seek to destroy him. So far, he has proven clever enough to escape most, though he has been forced to kill or wound a few as well. So far, he has not been in such a dire situation as to potential cause his mother's spell to come to fruition - whatever it may cause.
