It was dark out as a creature made his way through the quiet streets of a local town. He usually did not go near human but he had a reason. He was a little injured. While most wounds healed on their own he had one that would not heal. It was caused by an encounter with a human a could of days ago. The human was a hunter who was after game.  But once he spotted the monster he had shot him with a arrow. It would not have been a problem except for one thing. The arrow had broken off in the wound. Now it was infected and hurt quite a bit.

So here he was moving through town hoping to find someone who was willing to help. After all he had no other choice if he wanted to keep his leg. Stupid humans they all wanted to hurt him one way or another. There were no good people. It made him wonder why he had the stupid idea to even come here. He just kept reminding himself of his hurt leg.

He stopped in the middle of the walkway. He noted that it was pretty quiet here. He need to sit somewhere. So he limped to the edge of a storefront. The sat there on the ground to look at his injury. It was still bleeding and horrible looking. He growled softly and shook his head. He wanted to go home to his cave. He was scared of these humans. He just knew that he really needed some help right then. So he sat and wondered what he should do.

It was past midnight when Eckhart finally entered the town of Southpine. It had been about a week since he'd stopped at a town, so he was exited to sleep on a soft bed for a change. "Hopefully there's an inn with vacancies" Eckhart thought sleepily. "It would suck if I got here just to find they were all full."

Walking towards what he thought was the center of town, Eckhart smelled something odd. "Is that... ozone?" Now feeling more curious than tired, Eckhart turned onto a side street in hopes of locating where the smell was coming from. Ten steps down the road he stepped in something wet and almost slipped. This was unusual, as it hadn't rained in nearly two weeks. Eckhart reached down to touch what he had stepped in, and was immediately glad that he did. Eckhart had helped enough injured people to know what blood felt like, and this blood was still fairly lukewarm. Whoever the blood belonged to was likely still nearby. From how greasy the blood felt when Eckhart rubbed it in between his fingers, it was most likely mixed in with pus. "That's not good, the wound is probably infected. I should find this guy, I might be able to help them." Walking further down the road, Eckhart heart a very feint, garbled squeaking sound. Pausing for half a second, he slowly looked around.

And that's when he saw ...it. A large figure who appeared to be wearing a cloak was hunched over in a small walkway, backed turned to him. Eckhart could not understand why, but he began to break into a cold sweat. "Sweet Ansgar, what is that thing?" Eckhart began hyperventilating. Why was he getting so freaked out by this? Trying as hard as he could to pull himself together, he nervously called out to the man. "Um, sir? Are you hurt?"

As he sat there in the quiet the mothman looked around for a few moments. He took a breath and gave a low growl. He then paused as a scent hit him. A human was near him. He listened hearing their footsteps as they can closer to him. He gave a low growl not sure of what their intentions were. However he did still need help.

As he heard the young man talking he frowned. He only understood some of what was said. He whimpered as he turned to face the boy. His glowing light red eyes shinned in the darkness.he could feel that this human feared him. And he should have. Chase was indeed stronger then any human. And he had no problem defending himself. Even when he was hurt this badly. However he did not intend to hurt this man. He wanted his help.

Now the monster could not talk due to an injury when he was small. So he instead nodded to the man and pointed at his leg hoping that this young human could understand what he was trying to tell him. He wanted him to know that he was hurt there. Though alot of humans had trouble understanding him .

Eckhart flinched as the figure turned to look at him. It's glowing red eyes were unnaturally large, and they seemed to be almost hypnotic. Eckhart had to pull himself away from looking at them, just in time to see the creature motion to it's leg and make another odd squeaking noise. "It's leg? Why is it pointing to it's leg?" Suddenly, Eckhart remembered the blood, and realized that this was who had been injured. Gingerly, Eckhart steeped forward. "So, uh, you hurt your leg? I guess I could, um, take a look."

"Calm down Eckhart. You thought Kino was creepy when you first met her, this thing might be friendly like she turned out to be." Having finally edged his way to the creature, Eckhart bent down and examined it's injury. Even in the dark, he could see an object had lodged itself into the creature's flesh. "First things first, I'm getting that thing out of your leg" Eckhart said, reaching for his scalpel...

The mothman just watched the young man now. It seemed that he had understood what he was telling him now. He let him get closer now giving a small cringe as he did. He really was afraid of humans. He just tried to keep himself calm though. He listened as the man spoke to him. He then nodded as he got the jest of what he was telling him.

He then watched him as he looked at his wound. He had no idea how medics did their jobs. Though he did know that was going to have to get the arrow tip out of his leg. And he knew that this was going to hurt. However piain was a lot better then loosing his leg completely. He would not be able to hunt if that happens. And he would be able to be what he was either.

He then heard the young man talking . He frowned then cringed as he whent to pick up something that looked sharp. The mothman turned away and cringed. He knew that the next part would hurt. However he was willing to let him help him now.

Upon seeing Eckhart's scalpel the monster seemed to flinch, but he didn't make any attempts to push the small blade away. Slowly feeling the wound with his fingers, he judged how deep of a cut he needed to make. "Yikes, this might be stuck in his femur." Hoping that he wouldn't need to carve away at the monsters bone, Eckhart began to cut, using his power to clot blood to keep the monster from loosing any more blood. It took six slow minutes, but he finally got the object free. Immediately he regenerated the cells in the creatures leg, closing the wound. He than began rummaging through his bag. "It's still infected, I need to see if I have anything that can help with that."

The mothman did not want to watch the man cut on him. He really did not wish to see how that looked. He whimpered as he cut in to his leg after pushing on it for a few minutes. Now what might come as a surprise was the few years that came from the pain. Most did not know his kind could do that. He took breaths but stayed strangely still. He waited until he was done before he glanced back at him. He was happy that he was now done with part of it. At least the thing was out now.

He looked at him when he said something about infection. He really did not know what he would have to do to fix that part. However he was willing to let him keep helping him now.

Eckhart hastily rummaged through is bag, looking for something to disinfect the monster's wound. He really did not want to stick around much longer, as the bright red eyes that had been boring into his skull were really giving him the creeps. "Juniper berries; no. Arnica; no. Garlic; no. Dogwood; no." Finally, he found a small root at the very bottom of his bag. "Ah, that works." Eckhart hurriedly shoved the root into the creatures hand. "Eat this. It's licorice, it will help with your infection. Um, not too much at a time though, it doesn't taste quite like the candy they make with it."  Looking up at the monster's eyes one more time, Eckhart broke into a cold sweat. Trying his hardest not to look as terrified as he felt, he turned around and quickly walked off in the direction of the inn. He realized that he was still clutching the arrowhead in his hand, and pocketed it.

"What the hell was that?"

Ice

The mothman knew that most humans did not like his presence. Though he also knew that this whent for other creatures as well. He watched carefully as he dug through his bag. He was not really sure what the man was trying to find though. Humans were a bit odd to him. Though he figured it had something to do with helping him. The man had mentioned that before. Then he shoved something in to the monsters hand. Now he still only understood a little bit of what the boy was telling him. He then just nodded. It wasn't likely that chase would ever know what candy even was. He only ate what he found in the woods.

He then watched as the boy made his leave. The mothman would be going as well . He needed to go back to his face. Though he was thankful that no all humans were horrible to him. Maybe he could even say he might like to see more like the young man he met tonight. With that thought in mind he made his way to his face in the woods.
