Home was a dangerous place to be. Too many temptations, too many lies, too many stakes. In fact, had she
not returned, some might have actually believed her
dead, but it seemed a certain one night rendez-vous with the wrong man doubled the worth on her head.
"Dead or Alive," she mused, staring at her wanted poster. Her face scrunched as she studied it. "They can never get my nose right." A finger tapped over the amount, now hastily painted over in red reading,
'A Million Silvers'. "I guess that amount in gold didn't sound as appetizing."
Her grin was meek, but the fire was still in her eyes. She moved and ripped the poster down, but she didn't shred it or crumple it up to throw into a sewer grate. No, she folded it in half and pocketed it. It was her lover's job, anyway, to remove the posters. Besides, she figured he'd get a kick out of how much his woman was now worth.
Adjusting the hood of her cloak, she looked back over her shoulder before continuing on her way. She had a lot to do before nightfall, and the skies threatened with rain.
There was a lot of heresay and rumors she wanted to get the low down of, plus she now had a very real threat on her lover's life that forced her into these less pleasing tasks. But she wore the danger with pride, and would not apologize for anything she had done. Not now, not ever.
Even still, it was a bit petty for her to steal from a child, of all things, but apparently this kids journal held information about someone else that could be used against another, and laundered for another debt....
The jist of the gig was that she had no choice, and so to the Cullener's manor she walked.
By the time she was standing outside the orange stone building, it had began to rain. Lightly enough that one wouldn't really need a hood, but by now, she at least would look less conspicuous with her's up. It seemed the family wasn't home... they didn't need to be. The child's personal diary was all she needed, and perhaps a bargaining chip or two against the family as well. One could never be too safe when guarding their own ass; and apparently, Jinai was now responsible for a lot of asses.
