Physical Description
Average in height and build, Rain isn't an overly muscular man, just toned enough with broad shoulders from working on the ship all day (and to make himself look good- he DOES like looking nice). He has dark black hair with bangs that part in the middle and frame both sides his face in waves and the rest is held in a pony tale at the base of his skull. He has dark, tanned skin, dark brown eyes and heavy black brows. His face is long, as are his limbs, and he has a small beard on his chin and a tuft of hair just beneath his lower lip (I suppose you could call it a goatee). He is often times seen scratching it when it thought.

He likes wearing fancy clothes, so he can be seen normally wearing fine red silken shirts with gold embroidery. Only the best sort of clothing for him! He also thinks red makes him look more dashing.

Personality
Julius Conrad, or 'Rain' (as most now call him (he thinks it makes him seem more 'mysterious')) loves himself some money. Money is pretty much all he thinks about. Oh, and getting rich. He cares mostly for himself and little for others, or at least he puts himself out there as seeming that way. In fact, it just takes a lot for him to actually give a damn about others. Putting effort into actual friendships and relations not only costs him precious time he could be counting, plotting to steal or actually going out stealing his favorite thing (gold),... it's just something he's not very good at.
He never had a real sense of identity other than 'wishing' to be rich while he was growing up.  He didn't have a poor life, just not a rich one, despite who he knew his father was. And when he found out he could ever gain the types of riches his father had, he figured he might as well 'steal' his way to that sort of glory.  He's also as smug as they come and likes to talk a lot, thinks he knows everything and can be quite stubborn and childish about it. (Yes, he feels quite entitled to an inheritance and a life style he will never have).

Rain is also an avid gambler, who is more or less addicted to it. If you propose a bet, chances are he won't say no and be more than happy to take a chance to gain some more of his precious money.

Deep down, he really just wanted to be accepted by his father, who would 'come' to see him, but more or less didn't put his heart or time into his bastard son, but rather his visits were to see his lover (Julius's mother)- and even that grew cold after a time and his father eventually stopped coming at all.  Julius had grown mad at his mother at that point, but since he was old enough to leave home and strike out on his own- that's what he did. He had taken his 'entitled' money from her savings and tried to start a business, which quickly turned to a life of stealing and swindling (which was far, far easier than trade and sales).

Magic/Abilities
He's cured and can not leave his 'sand ship' he so lovingly named 'Conrad's Coin'.

Brief History
The bastard son of a prince who got swindled out of his inheritance due to the fact he wasn't born as a 'full' prince, his father still tried to keep ties with him and his mother, which only leant itself to giving Rain a complex where he believed he was 'owed' money because of who his father was.

The Curse
Greed will get you every time, and Julius Conrad is no different.  While trying to strike it rich in any money scheme, thieving operation or gamble he could; Julius Conrad eventually found himself in a shadier area in Essyrni. There was a small hut with an old, cloaked man asking Julius to come play a game with him. Julius was skeptical at first.  He was busy trying to make some coin by swindling an old woman out of her prized vases when the bet was set.

"If you can fill my ship full of gold, you can keep it, and obtain all of the riches in the world."
Finding this a funny type of bet, Julius had actually considered turning it down, that was, until the sack full of coins was presented to him. There was only about a hand full, but each of them appeared priceless and old. He knew the coins themselves would fetch a hefty price, for they were authentic ancient Essyrnian coin.

With his appetite wet for more gold, Julius eagerly followed the cloaked man to his ship, though when they got to the desert, Julius was confused why he was at the desert and not at the ocean. It was here the man removed his cloak to reveal his skull and piercing eyes and ratty, locks of rotting hair. Terrified, Julius tried to run, however, the cloaked man snatched him by the wrist and drew out a dagger, whose handle was an hour glass. Cutting into the flesh of Julius's palm, he then pressed the bloodied knife to the gold coins from the ship, spilling it across all the entire pile of them. The hour glass then began to glow with life, sucking out the very soul from within Julius's body and turning it into sands that were trapped within.

When Julius screamed out in pain, no one was around to hear him. The cloaked figure, after having filled the hour glass with Julius's mortality, dropped Julius to the ground and began to laugh, and soon the ancient sand ship rose from the ground while the earth shook violently. Julius could have sworn the sands had somehow opened up for the ship, as if by magic and then man repeated the same phrase he had from when they first struck their bet.

"Fill the ship full of gold, and you will be free of this ship. Fill it full of all of the gold you'll ever need, because it's this true gold you will be able to keep. Forever."

And with that, the cloaked skeletal man turned into a pile of bones.  Freaked out, Julius tried to leave the ship, but found himself thrown back every time by some unknown force. It felt as if the ship were pulling him back, holding him in place with some unseen force. And soon he realized when he tried to remove ANY item from his ship, NONE of them could be removed (such as the pile of bones from the former cloaked man).  Eventually Julius had to figure out how to man the ship all by himself, and began taking on 'crew' along the way. His first being a scraggy, black dog who follows him everywhere. He really didn't want the stupid dog on his ship, but the moment he jumped on board, he was stuck. He calls the old dog 'Rags'.

So now Julius travels throughout the desert in hopes to fill his ship full of 'gold'- aiming to pirate from every caravan that strikes out in his territory. Too bad for him, not too many people aim to brave the deserts alone...

More on the Ship
His ship has unique properties in that this sand ship can sail on sands (but of course not on the ocean, though he's never tried (he's actually afraid of the ocean). It also ca dive beneath the sands, so if Julius needs the ship to dive below, it can, and he, and any within his ship, are protected while within it by the ship's natural magics (like they can't suffocate)
That's not to say they can not get killed or kill one another or have a sandworm snatch one off of the vessel and eat them whole (that happened once, to the first man who stepped on his ship, a very pesky merchant who, well, let's just say could not keep his mouth shut)
However, even after this portly merchant was eaten by the sandworm, that night, his bones found their way back onto the ship and are still laying in a pile on the corner.
Julius always gets the shivers when he passes them- reminding himself of his curse.

The Curse of the Sandship- it was as ship created by Ancient mage-pirates who used to terrorize the sands of the Moraki but were imprisoned beneath the sands in an epic battle long forgotten to history. THe real story has since been lost to the ages, but the curse has not. The magics are real and Julius has come to find this out first hand-
as will he and his future crew.

(this is a work in progress! I'll be adding more later!)

Hesra- mother
King Lestit- father (king of a small island chain near Yoreiq)
