The Never King- a king erased from history because of his dabblings in dark magic (among other things...) suddenly because a present day problem when an unlikely group of adventurers 'awakens' him from the grave. I ran the Connlaothian civil war. For more info, check out it's page here. The war has now turned into a 'Cold War' with it's plotting page found here. It's no longer a huge site wide event but the scars are there.

"Of course not, Valia," she chuckled.  "I rarely go into Reajh.  Usually, if I want something - and often when I don't - Reajh comes to me.  I'd rather spend my time out on the range or in the woods, really."

Not that she had a lot of free time for that either...

"You're the Grand Duchess!" Clearly her sister knew what that meant. "Am I to force myself into visiting you more often so you can become more intimately aquainted with your capital city? Even I am aware of some of the finer restaurants,a nd me and Gabriel have only ever been but once!"

"Well, I certainly wouldn't want to put you out, dear sister," Kathryn murmured with a grin and a sparkle in her eye.  "But if you should happen to find yourself nearby, I should welcome your advice."

Valia's home was a long way to travel, of course -- it truly would be monstrous to ask her to visit much more frequently...particularly with a small child at home.

"In the meantime, we will have to rely on you to get us through this day."

"So it would seem. Now, I know one normally needs reservations, but we must see if we can't get ourselves a table at Court De Beaux."A nd looking her sister over, she raised her chin. "And if the Grand Duchess can't get a seat there on a Sunday afternoon, who can?"

"I'll send someone to see to it," Kathryn promised with a soft smile.  She wasn't accustomed to using her influence to gain dinner reservations, but, nevertheless, if they declined, she would feel most insulted indeed.

With a sigh, Valia checked the two earrings were secure by giving them a light pull before rising to her feet and turning towards her sister.

Kathryn truly did adore her younger sister -- and so it was that, in spite of Valia being, well, Valia, the pair had a good time...although most of the purchases were Valia's, she, too, found a few things to buy.  And Valia had been right about the meal -- it had been quite good, in fact...and, somehow, that had surprised Kathryn.  And, the rain that had been threatening all morning had held off -- another blessing!  It seemed Angsar wanted them to have a nice day out together after all!

Back at the palace, she had sent Molly scurrying ahead up to her room to lay out a different outfit for her to change into -- there was no reason to lounge around the palace in the same clothes she had been shopping in...

Kathryn's sigh was soft and annoyed as she glanced at her reflection in the mirror.  This was a casual dress, meant for entertaining in her home as comfortably as possible without putting on all those airs she had worn outside the palace gates.  She had yet to add jewelry to the ensemble and put up her hair again, but, for the time being, she was decent enough.

But those airs were for others as much as herself, for she was expected to behave in a certain way...

"If you must," she answered shortly as she bade Molly to open the door for the toad.

Kathryn's smile, unknowingly, matched his.  "Word travels fast."  Lifting up a pair of earrings, she tilted her head slightly to insert the hook into her ear.  Once the first was in, she glanced at Vesrik in the mirror.  "Don't worry, Vesrik.  I don't intend to push my way into that restaurant -- or anywhere else -- on a regular basis."

Why else would he be here but to chastise her?

"Oh? Is that so?" Vesrik said, mocking a pout. "Such a pity. It is one of the finest establishments in this great city," he went on, slowly making his way towards the woman's side, but as always, kept himself at the most respectable of distances with always the best vantage point for him.

"It isn't that I don't intend to visit again -- it really was quite good."  Her gaze had turned to the mirror as the second earring fell into place.  Picking up her make-up, she began to carefully apply it to her face.  "I plan on making a reservation, next time.  Apparently, there is quite a long waiting list to get in, and several people seemed rather irate that their reservations were cancelled on my behalf."

Which was, admittedly, somewhat unfair...  In any case, it set a bad precedence.

"Apparently, some of the most powerful men and women in Connlaoth dine there...and it would be unwise to step on their toes."  Because it wasn't like these were mere peasants...  These were the wealthy, after all.

"It isn't that.  I'm well-aware of the unrest.  I wouldn't want to send tongues wagging about how we take what others have earned..."  She brushed her brush over her cheeks lightly, spreading a pretty pink color in its wake.  "We can't go about carelessly tarnishing our reputations, now can we?"

But, if that wasn't what he wanted to talk to her about...

Turning, she regarded him with her usual subtle disdain.  It was no secret the pair were not close, after all...  But she was, in the very least, always polite.  "What is it?"

"Yes, well, balance is a delicate thing. Just one brush of rouge might make your cheeks appear too hot, as if you had just come from the suns of Essyrn. But just the right, gentle stroke- and it adds a beautifulness to your countenance. But ah.. yes, I am not here to speak about Court De Beaux or a lady's rogue. I'm here to talk about.. something interesting I've seen. A certain.... thing I found in he garden." The Never King- a king erased from history because of his dabblings in dark magic (among other things...) suddenly because a present day problem when an unlikely group of adventurers 'awakens' him from the grave.
