"So they travel during the day..." thought Eihmo'tei. He was (mostly) calm now, and he gave a soft smile and a nod to confirm that he had understood (or so he thought).

The Zerdani did not think it was wise to travel during the day, but then again, the two were still alive. That is the best indicator that they know what they are doing, so he decided to trust their decision. He was able to tell that the bat lizard would fly, which was... obvious...? The Zerdani thought it a better idea if he and Kiara could walk under those massive wings for cover against the sun. Lizards were better equipped than they were for direct exposure to the sun anyway. It can't be helped if the huge creature wanted to fly off. It was not his place to say what his new friends should and should not do. Eihmo'tei would follow, because he trusted that his new friends knew what they were doing.

A new thought popped into his mind now. The sun would be up in a few hours, and that is when they would move. He had been up all night! He needed rest for tomorrow, and he had little time to do so. He considered digging a makeshift burrow, but it was too much work, and too time-consuming. Out in the open was normally a horrible idea, but with two giants around, it should be fine. He circled the fire until he found the perfect spot to dig a bed in the sand. Lowering himself down onto his haunches, he put the strange thing which Kiara had given him (which he was still holding) in his mouth in order to free up his hands.

When he did this, the Zerdani froze. Slowly, he removed the strip from his mouth and analyzed it. He had never tasted anything like this before. It burned his tongue, but, at the same time, it was... pleasant. He licked it again. And again. Then he bit into it and struggled to bite a piece off. It was meat, and it tasted amazing! He spent the next few minutes greedily shredding apart the dried meat.

"Well..." Kiara mused slowly, watching their new friend devour the strip of dried meat she'd given him. "Safe to say that he likes it, eh Kit?"

The dragon snorted and nodded agreement. She smiled, cocking her head slightly as she eyed Eihmo'tei, then yawned, stretching her arms toward the sky. "I need some sleep if we're going to be at all productive tomorrow," she said, to no one in particular though Kit huffed in response. Yawning again, she dragged her pack over to the dragon and settled down curved against his side.

She'd been planning to use her pack as a pillow, but just before she laid her head against it she glanced at the fox-boy and thought better of it. "Eihmo'tei?" she called, digging around for another piece of provisions. Holding it out toward him she asked, "Do you want another? It's not like we need to save rations, we'll be in the city by tomorrow afternoon."

Eihmo'tei finished up the meat he was given, even licking his paws and fingers to get the last bits of flavor.

The Zerdani's ears perked up when he heard Kiara call his name. In her outstretched paw, was another strip of the same meat. 'Aan Udda?" he repeated. The "TH" in "Another" proved difficult, but he didn't care. He immediately went over to take it. After that one strip, Eihmo'tei CRAVED more. He sat down beside her, eating the second strip like he had not eaten for weeks. Once he was finished, it was time to make his bed.

Kiara looked comfortable lying up against Kit. Suddenly, the Zerdani's "perfect spot" was not so perfect. He removed his pack, and untied the waterskin. Before placing it down, Eihmo'tei had to finish the last mouthful. That meat tasted good, but dried out his mouth. He placed down the now-empty waterskin next to his sack and got to work digging. Careful not to throw sand at either of his two friends, he quickly created a shallow round pit in the sand. It was perfect.

Eihmo'tei's mouth opened wide as he let out a yawn. It was time for rest. Showing his natural flexibility, he laid down curling his body around, and put his tail over his nose. Releasing another yawn, he began to close his eyes...

Kiara smiled as she watched their new friend settle in, then yawned herself. She flopped down, her travelling cloak spread out underneath her and her pack under her head. "Night, Kit," she murmured, reaching up to stroke the dragon's nose when he swung his head over her. He crooned, eyes narrowing contentedly.

"Good night, Eihmo'tei," she added. She glanced over at him again, all curled up in a little ball with his fluffy tail draped around his body. She was suddenly powerfully reminded of a stuffed toy her mother had made her when she was a little girl.

She shook her head, putting the thought from her mind, and closed her eyes. Tomorrow should be interesting...
