__IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Short by Yorieqi standards, Makoa is probably going to go through a huge growth spurt soon. The boy's jet black hair is uneven, and his dark eyes are large and almond-shaped. He has ornate, vine-like tattoos along his cheeks and eyes. He normally wears simplistic shirts and trousers made from light-colored fabric, and is almost always barefoot. Makoa has a large pair of wings with coloration reminiscent of a scarlet macaw.

Makoa carries a very large, heavy journal containing every story he's ever heard. He regulary glues in new pages so he'll still have room to write in it!

Personality:
A cheerful boy, Makoa is very good at getting people to smile. He's very enthuesiastic about... well, everything, and that energy tends to rub off on others. He's a very good listener, and spends most of his time asking people to tell him stories that he can write down in his big journal.

If there's one thing that sours his mood, it's bad storytelling. Makoa loves stories with a passion, but he's heard sooooo many that they all kinda sound the same now. He's quick to point out what he sees as "flaws" in a story, be they cliches, obvious twists, or unlikable protagonists. He's actually taking to changing the "bad" stories he hears when he writes them down- he'd like to make them more appealing to his own sensibilities before spreading them himself.

Yorieq's culture is radically different from the mainland cultures in many ways, and Makoa is still trying to wrap his head around some of the bigger differences. Like, what's with this whole "marriage" thing everybody fusses over? Why are there next to no maha anywhere? Sex is totally normal, why does everybody act so weird when he talks about it? Most importantly, why do so many people here treat him like a child? Makoa has his big kid tattoos, like, right on his face! It should be plain as day that he's an adult! It makes his head hurt just thinking about it.

Relationships:
None really. Makoa was raised collectively like most kids in Yorieq are, so he doesn't really have any "traditional" parental figures.

Magic/Abilities:
Makoa can fly! He's pretty lightweight, so he can stay airborne for quite a long time.

Makoa owns a Dupliquill! If he underlines writing with it, he can instantly copy it onto another sheet of paper by tapping it with the feathered end.

History:
Quote from: Makoa"Oh gods, the mainland sounds so cool! There's gotta be a ton of stories and legends there, right? Better then all those boring, cliche stories here on Yorieq I bet! I'm gonna go there someday and write them all down so I can show everybody back home!"

Makoa has always loved stories. Raised by traders in Ainu, the young Makoa grew up hearing snippets of fantastic tales from all around Le'raana. By the age of twelve he'd heard just about every story from Yorieq and had frankly gotten sick of the island's storytelling conventions. It's basically the same ten stories over and over again! Nothing ever broke the mold!

When Makoa finally reached adulthood, he decided to sail to the mainland- it seemed like the logical thing to do, since whenever a foreign bard showed up in Ainu their stories were fresh and interesting.

It's only been a few months since the boy arrived, and he's already finding himself growing tired of the mainland's stories. Once again, he's beginning to see patterns emerge in the legends- the same few plot points and twists repeat every single time. He's trying to cope with this by rewriting making minor edits the stories he hears and spreading them, in hopes that his improved versions will catch on. Only time will tell if his plan works...
