--------------------------------
The sky was red as blood, its color pooling across the glass desert dunes, which warped the reflection and shadows cast down upon him from the roaring beast. It's fangs were hot with blood and drool, it's eyes wild and hungered and it's body, massive with scales and spikes adorning all over its serptentile form. The beast now raised up many stories high, it's shadow seeming to stretch across the entirety of Seraj Isa, while it's thousands of clawed hands reached out for him, clawing and scraping at the glass.
The man backed away, jumping quite a few times to avoid the deadly claws that pierced and screeched into the slippery glass. The man's mismatching eyes, one red, one blue, stared up at the beast, focusing on the spikey fins running along the beast's spine, which now appeared to have darker, blood red tips as they captured the glow of the fading sun, an image which danced in a thousand relfections splayed across the breath of the glass dunes that surrounded them. It's face had a spray of fanned spiked fins that were open now as the beast's massive jaw roared, teeth snapping down towards the man below. It was angry. And its aim was to kill.
The man with the mismatching eyes also had a pair of mismatching wings, one being nasty, leathery and black, similar to that of bats, with bulging, blue and red veins lacing along the inside. The other one was soft and beautiful and adorned with pure-white feathers, soft and perfect, like an angel's. It seemed this man was outmatched, even with his oddities. Though the battle had been going on for days, until both the pair had landed in the more secluded region of the Glass Desert where they continued to fight a bitter and unending battle of rage and wit.
By now, most of Jayo's clothing had been torn, blood staining what was left of it and coating well and thick into his hair. His muscles were strained, but he held on fast to his massive, double sided blade, while the demon eye on the darker, more gnarled end of it, peered up at the dragon-like beast. It was then the beast struck down with fury, it' thousands of hands came crashing down upon him. Jayo tried to move fast, hacking off a few limbs, but the beast used all of it's weight, and crushed him down against the glass, cracking the surface beneath it's weight.
But the beast's decision to try to crush Jayo was not without repercussions, as the demonic end of Jayo's blade cut in deep within it's flesh. Hot, bubbling blood began to spill around him, coating his body and dribbling off and collecting into the deep cuts and cracks within the glass beneath his back. His wings were smashed, and might have been broken, so he was thankful when the beast lifted its weight to roar in pain.
This victory was short lived as the beast snatched at him again, squeezing him tight while the blood from it's wound fell down upon the glass like rain. Even now as Jayo pushed the sword in deeper into the beast's belly, he found himself straining as his hand on the hilt nearly disappeared deep into the beast's flesh.
She roared out, angered and surprised that entirety of one end of his blade had pushed into her body. Though she was a large beast, it still hurt like hell, like a thorn in her side and she was losing blood fast. Though the beast had no wings, it took to the air, sailing just above the desert as it's body flowed like the rippling waves of the ocean, it's limbs moving in sequence, except the ten or so that had been latching on tightly to Jayo.
The glass desert moved fast beneath him, peeling away as the beast headed towards the sunset. He knew he had to act fast, lest they keep up this barbaric dance for long. The beast needed to be sedated, or killed, and the glass desert offered the perfect opportunity for it.
Struggling beneath the arms, Jayo yanked his sword free in a few, grunted motions, and held it out with one free hand, while struggling to free his other one. But with his sword free, he simply hacked off the limbs trying to contain him, and soon was plummeting to the ground. His wings snapped out at the last moment as he coasted along the glass floor and landed somewhere in the middle of a massive glass valley.
It was here he felt the prickle of glass beneath him when he landed in a crouch. The glass was delicate here, not hard and unyielding like the parts they had been fighting on before. He took a few cautious steps as he turned around, just as the beast was making a wide turn and heading straight back for him. Now it's massive mouth was open wide, ready to swallow him whole.
But Jayo didn't move. He did not flinch, but remained standing, hands tensing, veins popping as he grabbed onto the hilt of his sword, which was still coated thickly in blood. His wings bristled, and were tense at his back; and soon the beast was nearly upon him- and he braced himself for the inevitable as the massive jaws came clamping down upon him with such a force, the delicate glass shattered beneath.
And there was a ripple effect as the entirety of the thin valley of glass shattered in a wicked explosion of spitting glass, and soon blood, shards of glass and darkness consumed the pair as they tumbled into the world below- a world full of ancient black sands that were several miles below the thin surface of the glass above-
And the last thing Jayo saw was the first glittering lights of twilight as he summoned a great force from within, using all of his powers to melt and recongeal the glass surface above. And from tht power an ocean of liquid sands rushed upon them, crushing them and encasing both man and beast within.
Now, several miles deep lay the beast in slumber, forever tapped beneath a lid of glass. And just above him- moving forward, staring up, body poised as if reaching, swimming towards the sun... was a man, with ripped clothes, skin showing, blood staining across his face and all over his body with torn hair hiding his red eye, but his blue one remained, soft and placid, staring up as he remained frozen, just a few feet deep within the glass with his wings spread open and beautiful, frozen there for all time.
Though it had been several years, maybe even thousands of years since their battle, Jayo's powers were hardly dormant, and soon a soft, unseen pulse of his powers began to eminent from where he was trapped, an unseen, unheard calling to those of a like kind- Angel, demon or beast. Before he had been frozen, he had been swimming through the solidifying glass, though he hadn't quite made it, and suffered the consequence the same as the beast several miles beneath him. Though there was a ray of hope, he had seen the sky and had been reaching for it- and now, forever locked within the glass, he would forever see that sky, but would not be able to touch it.
Though he yearned for it, wanted it so badly that his desires were screaming in silence.
Surely someone.. something would hear him.
But even still.. what could anyone do to break such a thick layer of glass?
And even now, as Jayo's powers were beginning to awaken, beginning to seep into the world around him- so was that of the sleeping beast who was disguised and hidden in the dark shadows below. Jayo was not the only one screaming out in silence for freedom.. for a second chance.
