Physical Description
A tall and imposing man, body and mind hardened by his years in the war. He had risen in rank to Captain before a black powder incident lamed him. He now walks with the help of a cane as he heals and has earned himself a few gnarly scars,  some, unfortunately,  on his other wise handsome face.
He is more or less the 'tall, dark and handsome' type, with thick, low brows framing vibrant, blue-green eyes. His hair is a wild tangle of dark brown locks normally tied back in a tail. His a sturdy and hairy man, thanks to his father. Many say he looks like a spitting image of him, but he had gotten his mother's eyes.

History
He grew up on a small bit of mining property inherited by his mother. She never talked much about her family and was a quiet, reserved woman who was often ill. Even still, Quince saw her as a strong woman, her presence always imposing even when she was at peace.

As he grew older, the war broke out and his father was called away, and died early on in the war. His mother was devastated, having locked herself away for nearly a year. Quince was genuinely afraid of her and for her when she finally came to terms and began to contact her estranged family again. It was also around the time the family was having a hard time upkeeping their land and the mine- many workers having gone off to fight in the war, leaving Quince and the elderly and sickly workers to remain.

Although he found it odd, he encouraged his mother to continue to reach out to her brother. He felt she must be lonely, especially with Quince's time spent maintaining their property and helping down in the mine.

Thats when the draft was enforced and Quince received a letter to serve. Without much of a choice, he left his home to serve. A few years in he had become a Captain,  and served in the Grand Duke's army, assigned in the terrain near his home. He was stationed there a while with a few successful campaign's beneath his belt when his men were nearly all blown up by a black powder trap by the enemy.

His mother had thought he were dead, but the locals found him half alive. He was still recovering when he anxiously made his way home, only to find the manor abandoned.  Rifling through his mother's things, he found a letter from his Uncle Dalton, stating how he was elated his sister would be returning home.

Even injured as he was, Quince made the journey to his Uncle's estate, where he soon grew gravely ill after only spending barely a week there.

Strange as it all was, his mother was said to have died not long after she had arrived at her brothers and now his uncle fears his nephew may suffer her same fate and welcomed him to stay so the family doctor could help nurse him back to health.
