Wanderers and Independents / Rhafala, Demon Hunter
September 11, 2023, 06:17:02 AM
Art is done by me

__________________QUICK STATS
Name Rhafala
Nickname Farla. Far. Grumpbird
Age 800
Gender Female
Species Xigon (avian dragon)
Height Ten foot at the shoulder
Occupation Demon Hunter and Glass Smith
Residence Nowhere
__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF
Physical Description Farla is a xigon, a dragon-like creature that, rather than scales, is covered in a hybrid of feather and scale. While not as flexible as a true feather, and not as hard as a true scale, these 'sceathers' offer reasonable defence and are highly fire-resistant. They also afford Farla a degree of agility and flexibility that an armoured dragon could not hope to match.

In colouring, Farla is not unusual for her kind, and is, in fact, rather average in horn conformation and facial features. What sets her apart are her more muscular build, her molten glass left eye, various scars, and the glass blade replacing the missing tip of her tail.

Personality Blunt, stubborn, cold, a bitch of a bird - all could be used to describe Farla. She is determined to a fault, with a narrow focus on her goal. Anything that gets in the way will be brushed aside, or forcibly removed as needs must. She hates demons and undead with a burning passion that is terrifying to see in motion. There is little room for grey in her view of morality - anything that defies the cycle of life and death is a travesty, and has no place under the Sun or Moon.

However, she does have some redeeming qualities - Farla is determined to keep folk safe, even if it means she's blunt about your chances of survival, or telling a farmer to go kick dirt while she does the hard work, it comes from a place of care. Honest. Her race was, literally, created to fight undead and demons. It's what she does. Farla resents having no say in her lot in life, but she also won't let that stop her from doing it - she's damn good at it, and she can help. Even if she thinks most two-legs are idiots, it won't stop her helping them. In her own way

Magic/Abilities
Glass Shaping Farla carries pouches slung about her chest that hold sand and molten glass (separately, of course). Farla is a Glass Smith, a valued mage back where her kind roost. Able to channel energy through molten glass, Farla can wield the stuff as a whip, a blade, or weave shards imbued with her will throughout her sceathers, to be loosed at a foe later, or left as armour. She also likes to create little pretty baubles, and will hang them from her wrists, claws, or horns. In better times, this would be her role in life. Alas, the path of the Hunter is all that is left to her.

Fire Farla can use immense fire magic, as well as breathing flame. However, she takes energy from sunlight, and needs to bask often to keep her energy up. This sun basking also supplements her diet, as a creature created by magic, she requires less mundane methods of fuelling herself in addition to food.

Flight Farla is a strong flier, and prefers to fight on the wing where she can

Relationships Haha. No

Name Akori Renuu
Nickname Ako. Vixen. Treasure (by Tonoli only)
Age 475 years
Gender Female
Species Kitsune (Four tails)
Height 5 foot, 5 inches
Occupation Bard
Residence Wandering

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description Looking like a human woman, Akori is slim, curvy, and fair skinned with wide, green eyes. Her hair falls to her elbows, gleams chestnut red, and has a wild, wavy curl to it. It's common to see braids, beads, feathers, and shells amongst the forest of curls, little gleams of colour and adornment. Akori always seems to be cheerful and smiling, and she moves with a bouncy, enthusiastic grace.
(She's also cheating - she's a shapeshifter, so don't feel bad if you see her inhale an entire cake and wonder where it's going)

Akori likes to wear flowing clothing, with draping sleeves and lots, and lots of pockets. She is always seen wearing a necklace - an acorn, held in place about her throat by delicate, twisting vines. There is also, usually, an instrument of some kind on her person.

Of course, being a kitsune, Akori has another form - her actual form, truth be told. A red fox, with the same vivid green eyes, and four sinuous, brushy tails. A little larger than a regular fox, Akori can, if need be, hide three of her tails, and appear to be a mundane beast.

While channelling her magic, lightning will spark and flicker across her fur or skin, and her eyes take on a electric gleam.

Personality Cheerful, bubbly, and energetic, Akori seems to live life just to have fun. She never seems to take anything seriously, and with this, also seems to have no concept of fear or trepidation. Whether or not this is foolishness or confidence is, amongst some of her friends, a question yet to be answered. On the surface, Akori is the epitome of a bard - quick-witted, flirty, and always ready with a joke, story, or song.

Below the surface, however, Akori is lonely and somewhat insecure. She's been rejected before because of what she is - a kitsune. People distrust her simply because of her shapeshifting and non-human nature, and she's had relationships turn sour once the other party discovered her true nature. It has ended up with Akori leery of sharing her true emotions or thoughts on a matter, and instead covering with a joke or deflective comment. Since meeting Tonoli, however, she has improved massively. No longer so lonely, or afraid of what others may think - her Magpie will always accept and understand her.

Magic/Abilities
Shapeshifting Akori can shift between a few forms - a human, her four-tailed fox form, a mundane fox form, and a hybrid four-tails-human form. The latter is the same as her human form, but with her four tails evident at the base of her spine. Fox ears appear atop her head, and her feet are replaced with fox paws.

Lighting Magic Akori can throw lightning bolts, or zap someone with static electricity. She can be a terrifying storm-mage, or the equivalent of scuffing your feet on carpet and making your hair stick on end. Akori recharges her store of power through a form of energy vampirism - but don't worry, it doesn't harm the 'donor'. Ako skim feeds off of the collective energy of a room, preferring the rioting emotions of an inn's common room or pub. Her work as a bard, then, plays double purpose, as she can inspire feelings, and 'nibble' at the result. Never so much as to take the emotion away, but enough to keep her topped off.

Illusions Minor illusions, like a hole in the ground where once there was solid dirt. Any concentrated effort can dispel the illusions. Akori isn't anywhere close to a master of illusion, preferring her own agility and speed to evade danger

Kitsune's Ball A small, marble sized ball that looks to be made of a smooth, glassy material. Sometimes, a flare of electric blue will swirl through the roiling greys and whites of an almost cloud like setting. This ball contains Akori's soul, her anchor, to this world. If it were taken by someone with ill intent, they could command the kitsune to do whatever they desired. If the ball were destroyed, Akori would perish.

It is currently in the possession of Tonoli.

Relationships Soul-Bound to the wood nymph, Tonoli. She is also madly, deeply, devoted to him, and he to her.

Wants and Limits / Shiny's Wants and Limits
September 07, 2023, 07:32:39 PM
PLAYER WANTS

What are your favorite kinds of plots and relationships to play?
I like plots that explore and build on a character. How would someone react to, say, a dragon falling through the ceiling? Or when there are little in-jokes between characters, references they make, or nicknames they give each other. I like seeing them develop and grow. Sometimes throwing a little drama their way, just to see what happens.

What are your least favorite kinds of plots and relationships to play?
One sided relationships, or abusive, physical, emotional, or mental. I'm also not huge on combat, because I'm very cautious about godmodding the characters of others, so I end up being too cautious or timid - it doesn't make for a good thread for any partners. I'll maybe try practising, and hopefully I'll become more confident with fighty threads.

What are your favorite character types to play?
Honestly, I have a varied bunch. I love playing grumpy, serious characters with a bone to pick with existence. I love the light-hearted, joking type, or the ones who wanna save the world all on their lonesome. I will say I have trouble writing genuinely bad people, just because I want to poke them in the chest and tell them to behave. I enjoy writing with baddies - I'm just not very good at it myself.

Are you a planner or a pantser? Do you prefer to pre-plan and stick to a script when posting, or do you prefer to surprise and be surprised?
I generally have a vague outline for a plot - say, Saedrin goes to the market, and has her purse snatched. Past that, I'm happy to see where the characters want to go. I've tried planning stuff for them, and they never follow the script, anyway.

How do you feel about group threads?
I get lost easily when there are too many people in a thread - the maximum I can keep up with is three, any more, and I get kind if anxious. Am I replying too much to player A, and ignoring everyone else? Or did I miss somethign important further up the thread? Brains are silly like that, so I'd prefer to stick to smaller groups

How often can you reply to any given thread? How long should a partner wait before nudging you for a post?
Up to two weeks, after that, please feel free to prod me in discord DMs. I do tend to hermit when my mood is low, so sometimes I may need poking to get out of my hole, and get back to fun stuff.

What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?
I'm patient, and there is never any rush in replying to me. Life happens, despite our best efforts.

How do you feel about instant messenger RP?
I'm old fashioned; I don't like it.

Ho do you feel about post volleying/rapidfire RP?
I ramble in posts sometimes, so my rapidfire wouldn't be that rapid, in some cases. I've never really tried it? So long as any partners don't mind shorter posts, I could give it a shot.

What's your preferred posting style? Long posts? Short posts? Anything and everything?
I tend toward three or more paragraphs in replies - openers can be longer. I don't expect anyone to match post length, I just ramble. Sometimes, though, my posts are shorter. It can vary by what character is in the muse-seat at the time.

Any RP styles/habits that you love?
Honestly? If the player is having fun, and the characters mesh, it's all good!

Any RP styles/habits that you avoid?
I tend to avoid characters with main character syndrome, if that makes sense? Like we're all here to have fun, let's not play top trumps with our characters - let's just go have an adventure.

PLAYER LIMITS

What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
Grabbing is fine, even hitting if it would result in only a bruise or minor injury. Broken limbs, loss of limbs, or wounds that would scar I would prefer we discuss beforehand.

What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
No age differences, please. I also prefer to have characters fall for each other IC, though I am also open to setting them up OOC - we'll just see if they fall in love once they are in the thread. I've never written a love traingle before, so that could be amusing.

What are your limits with regards to graphic content such as sex, violence, drug use, sexual assault, etc? What is your comfort level?
Sex I would prefer to fade to black. Violence I am fine with, though sexual assault is a no-go. Drugs I am okay with the more 'minor' ones, though anything too hard, and that's a no from me. Fantasy-weed? Sure. Fantasy-cocaine? No thanks.

What are your limits in regards to pregnancy within plots?
No pregnancy at all, please, at least for humanoid babies. Eggs, cubs, kittens, etc are more than fine.

What about healing?
Discuss beforehand, it could be a fun plot point, but for some of my characters their scars are very major life events.

What about characters being transformed against their will?
Again, discuss beforehand. It could be fun to have it happen, but I'd like to have some input before anything happens.

Anything else?
(Anything else you want to add that other players should know!)

Welcome Wagon / Hello hello!
September 07, 2023, 09:18:31 AM
Hello! I'm brand new here, found you through an ad and liked the vibes so hope you don't mind me sticking around. I'm Shiny, I like birds, drawing, and video games. I live in England, which is currently undergoing a heatwave that's trying to destroy me.

I have a hoard of characters to throw your way, mostly weird beasties that just wanna be friends - or not, in one or two cases.

Anyways, I'll stop rambling. It's nice to meet you all, and hope to write with you in the future!
