For most, an uneventful and quiet meal wouldn't be hard to get. But Kallisa Noctia "Flicker" Davennus was out recruiting, and anybody familiar with her knew to keep their purses close and their sensibilities closer.
Just her luck-- Flicker slid into the other side of the table, a wide, sly grin on her face. She knit her fingers together and tossed a copper-colored curls out of her face.
"Hey there, friend," she said, all smiles but teeth pointy as her long ears. Her eyes reflected the torchlight like a cat's. Ser Davennus here looked like the fantasy equivalent of a car salesman-- smooth-looking, fast-talking, and hungry for something like money-- or possibly for the power that money ensures.
"Lovely establishment here," she said. "Such friendly rats, and just the other day, I accidentally tore a door right off its rotted hinges! Paid for it, of course. Hopefully it'll hold 'til the rest of the place rots, and that door will still be standing. Nothing but the best for me, you understand, miss."
"Which brings me to my offer," Davennus continues. "I'm a representative of the Stone Star mercenary company and I'm looking for accompaniment on a type of adventure. A treasure hunt, in fact! The type of venture that could set a man for life."
Through all this, she gestured with her hands in various ways. When it was done she knit them again and grinned. "So what say you, miss..."
