Mountains, deserts, forests... these landscapes in particular tended to draw Orphis in. On this day, however, he just so happened to find himself flying over the latter. The massive dragon flapped his wings and roared at a flock of birds passing below him. Terrified, the birds scattered immediately, a couple of them soaring upwards and passing close to Orphis' jaws in their confusion. Jerking his head forward, the winged beast caught the creatures and gulped, swallowing them whole.
The small snack making him even hungrier, Orphis soared downwards towards a gap in the blanket of trees below. As he approached, the previously hidden animals reacted, hissing and screaming in fear of the gigantic predator. Instead of attacking them, the beast smiled, forming his scaled lips into a toothy dragon-grin. He thoroughly enjoyed the attention; it was fit, he thought, for them to be afraid. After all, he was one of the most dangerous, magnificent creatures in all the land.
Orphis landed, his clawed feet ripping into the soft soil and creating permanent indentations in the earth. He folded his wings and took a mighty step forward, planting his legs and puffing out his chest majestically while he searched the surrounding trees for prey suitable for a creature of his size.
Then, to his right, the dragon spotted a... something... that intrigued him. He had no name for this particular thing, and so in his curiosity he stepped towards it, not bothering to be subtle. As he approached the thing, he noticed two bizarre characteristics: it seemed to ooze, and also to have entrapped a smaller creature within it. Cautiously, Orphis bent his head towards it, until his nose was almost touching the goo.
