"Probably a good idea," Einin said, raking her hands through her bangs again and tugging at the ends in an effort to relieve the pressure building in her temples.

"Was that it for tonight?"

Herrick leaned against a crate, crossing his arms as he looked up at her.

"I, uh... had another thing in mind, but if you want to stop for tonight, we can just head home."

"Ah," Einin said, and shrugged her shoulders. "In that case, I think I'm done for the night."

Not done physically so much as just...emotionally. She felt utterly drained, and her hangover probably didn't help. Though the headache chipping away at her temples has little to do with strong liquor; that was new.

Herrick nodded, and motioned towards himself.

"Let's go, then. I gotta lock this place back up."

He didn't know if this night helped relieve some of the stress or not. Still, even if it wasn't the most pleasant conversation, the most important thing to him is that Einin knew their mistake was an accident.

The last thing he wanted was for her to hate him.

Einin didn't need to be told twice.

As soon as Herrick said the words, she hopped down from the crate she was perched upon and without a look his way, she slipped out the door and into the night.

He knew the way back.

And she just needed to get home and pass out for a while.

Herrick watched Einin go, and once she was out of sight, he turned to lock the warehouse back up. It was simple enough, really. About as simple as breaking in to begin with.

Testing the lock one more time, just to be sure, he turned to head back to Einin's estate.

Einin didn't wait for Herrick to catch up. She made a beeline home, sneaked back in the way she escaped, and climbed through her window and into bed. She only removed her boots before she flopped atop her covers, but otherwise remained in her training clothes.

Herrick couldn't be too far behind, and she didn't want to change while he had a chance of walking in on her. The thought had been mortifying before, but carried with it a new sort of stomach-clenching anxiety she didn't know how to place.

Herrick was in a couple minutes after her. He didn't long in the room, just long enough to close the window. After that, he was climbing the ladder up into the attic, pulling his hood back so it wasn't in his eyes.

He opened the trap door, and pulled himself up.

"Good night."

He closed the trap door behind him.

Einin said nothing to Herrick, and waited for a few minutes after he'd ascended into the basement before she changed into her nightclothes and stashed her training clothes. When all that was taken care of, she curled back under the covers, but it was still a while before she fell into a restless sleep.

Once more, Herrick walked over to the attic window, staring out to the rear gardens of Einin's estate. If the window had a hatch, he'd open it. Perhaps lie in the wide sill, feel the night air.

He didn't know how long he looked out over the gardens, but when he was done, he didn't even bother going to bed.

He sat against the wall, beneath the window, and quietly sobbed himself to sleep.
